She told me that nothing will stand in the way of her children and our families safety. I think it kind of pissed her off that her friends would mock her for thinking of the family.

I have no doubt that if the time ever comes, there might be a disappointed person that expects help. She has kind of a ruthless side of her.

Ugh that will be fun this weekend. My wife isn’t going back to work full time until the baby goes to kindergarten so she’s finishing her MHA and BCBA before she goes back. One income is challenging at times but we also save tens of thousands on child care. Most people definitely have to work during the week and can’t do things until the weekend or if they use PTO, it’s something I take for granted, having her able to run errands it’s a huge help.

If it helps BJs, it’s like Costco and Samsclub, is a ghost town. Grocery stores will be a nightmare next week, beginning of the month and now this.

Well, definitely add frozen veggies and canned meat, fruit, casserole, fish to your list.
Another thing is rice and pasta.... there are many more but I'll let others fill that in.

I would rather be prepared than starve.

Same here.

I am astounded at how many people do not think like this. I guess that is what the government aims for. Be dependent on the system.

I'm not an expert prepper.

For our purposes, I'm mostly going to assume that basic services will mostly stay going: water, power. I'm also going to assume that there will be access to basic necessities like food, but that you won't want to go shopping to avoid people.

I think there is a thread on ATS about pendemic stocking. Yep. Here it is. Get some ideas from here.

Eh, I'm part-time, so I may be out on Friday by myself. Husband told me to go do some today, but I want to sit down with him and go over the list and have him do some basic math so I don't buy too little.

The numbers will rise a lot in a day. Finland had first Corona virus case in early January.. chinese woman who recovered. Now there are suspected cases in Helsinki area, Jyväskylä and Mikkeli ( 1 case in each atm ).. all these today.
In Lappeenranta they will not test fever from Flights from Italia Corona area, flights come from Bergamo area twice a week. They first were going to test them but now they don´t just giving them a pamflet of disease and instruction what to do if feeling sick. Same situation in Helsinki vantaa airport but more flights from Italy.

Finland government has mostly young women ( about 30 years old ) in cabinet and just couple males, i have never seen as poor handling on decisions for common good than now in here.

I think I know how they are going to play this in the states, at least initially. With the higher frequency of social media stories, coming out of frustration because they can’t get corona test when they are sick and how the cdc is attempting to generalize it, they Re gonna play it like it’s a flu or cold. I don’t trust for one second the total cases at the moment in the states, further more they have tested only about 400 to 500 cases..

I mean I guess the tension between the health of the citizens vs the health of the economy and stock markets can be deciphered in the speculative information. Not to mention trump, announced he will be having a press conference or declaration today in regards to corona because he is saying the media is fear mongering and it’s effecting the markets. 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Well.. their first cases will be travelers from other countries. That's not surprising. What to watch is if and how it spreads within the country.

Seeing how I'm in the 60+ range I am as of right now self identifying as a 19 year old female. My stress has reduced tremendously now that my risk is considerably lessened.

I know you are just messin, but there are people who think like this.

It is imperative that if you prep, you must prepare for scenarios such as this. I believe that most people who think such as you have described, will have a short life span.
