Censorship....... I have been thinking that the actions by the moderators have been justified. Just what they do with what happeneds afterward is all I disagree with (so far just William on the Kowalski case).

I don't see the need or the reasoning behind this post. It is obvious that you do not know what a moderator is supposed to do. You can't tell one party that you side with that they can argue a point and limit the other party you disagree with, not to. Why do you think CA has over stepped his limits???

If you could see how Bundoo propagates then you would probably try to ban him considering your ideals on this matter. The fact is that Bundoo is a soldier and is one that is very good at propaganda. Censorship... Has always been a collaborative decision of all staff when dealing with certain topics. Ycon would have you believe she is being censored, but that is not the case. Her friend is welcome to come here and participate himself... until then, we have voted to avoid the topic.

Kowalski had admitted in an AIM session with me that it was all a joke (he didn't know who I was). Since his actions were against the TOS, I applied a posting ban and sent a U2U that he could participate again if he just admitted that he was fooling around.

She constantly insists that she is censored and that she can't speak of him in any way what so ever. NOT EVEN IN CHAT. I often get on to her and tell her that is not so. I know that posting topics about him is not accpetable here as of this moment but I couldn't see how or why she or I wouldn't be allowed to speak of him in a innocent chat room. I know why we don't talk about this guy on the boards and to me that makes sense. However that particular reason has nothing to do with chat and therefore I can only wonder why she insists that her discussion of him in there is not allowed. Somehow I just know that is not true. Probably so. Is that too hard to believe??? My friend Ben was a computer hacker who got busted by the FBI. In a matter of hours he landed a deal with them where he got a job with internet security compaines. Here is a guy who is still in high school just barely 17 who gets in trouble and then in no time is working for a company in Santa Monica making 40,000 dollars a year. He had his own place just one mile from the beach in Santa Monica that cost him 1100 dollars a month. This guy had the option to go to New York and make twice that much but he chose California because of the beaches and the free atmosphere. All this for some kid in a little unknown town called Fairhope, Alabama. So it really isn't that far fetched if that is what you are getting at.

Take Xaos and Pheonix_Cross for example. These two are only 15 years old. Yet they are probably more intelligent and mature than most people I know. They sure do out do many here. Those two are not limited by their age. They set the boundries for themselves and because of that they are setting trends. I am sure that William was no different. After all William is a really smart guy.

So just think about that.

OK, as an insider here is what I know about what is being censored.

Swear words, on an automatic list

B.rian. The guy beleives he is Jesus christ and is abusive and cowardly, He makes his posts through his gullible diciple Ycon, instead of himself. We had enough, all her posts did over YEARS of posting was to create arguments and fill the board. We didn't want the board to be accociated with the charactor or his distorted and disturbed teaching.

Then there were some other spammers, and trolls, Jessup / nuh, who was the worst, and a few others. Their names were added to the auto list.

We have also deleted some posts from CA, where the posts were not only antisemitic, but comprised revisionist anti holocuast history. Why? These regular posts were starting to dominate the threads, and as we had all vented agaisnt them repeatedly yet they still were being made. We felt enough was enough. Again, its not the sort of stuff you want the board filled with.

Then there is the usual crowd control. We have banned Freeman, repeatedly, he has a 1 week lifespan, who gets increasinly shrill and abusive in his posts.

We have controlled abusive posts, "me too" posts (just filling the threads), and 'keeping the forum tidy sort of control.

And thats it.
If I have forgoten anything then please add it to the bottom.

Thanks for the information. I had some questions about the people who were banned. I just heard people getting angry over it. It doesn't seem to be a problem to me that you removed them. Probably for the best.

Just, from now on, try to keep banning quiet. If you tell people we get into this mess. Kowalski couldn't have been an issue if his banning wasn't announced like it was.

Just some thoughts.

First, I have to agree with Abraham Virtue about Jedimaster. Whatever the criteria for moderator selection is here... there's NO way he could have passed the test. I am stunned by the ignorant rhetoric of his posts, whether I agree with his positions or not. His "moderations" are anything but...his spelling and grammer is horrendous and while that should not disqualify anybody from participating in discussion it should at least jump up as a red flag for consideration as moderator.
It seems to me, that the role of a moderator is have enough wisdom, patience, vision and DETACHMENT to be able to streamline a discussion topic into cul-de-sac of knowledge and resolution. I do not think Jedimaster has this capability....yet.
As far censoring goes...why do any of it. There is a natural selection for topics that already happens. Its a sort of group process and its dynamically alive. To claim to "speak from authority" about censoring or really anything except personal experince is a dubious position to claim in this world. What it really tends to show are your own perceived values and prejudices. But on the other hand, William this is your website and you can do what you want.

As I have had my own boards with a good number of members (though not in this field) Moderation is a MUST!
If this site were left to "natural selection" on the posts the database would be HUGE not to mention mostly meaningless. Please keep in mind that you do not pay ANYTHING to be here and William is the one to thank for that.
Obviously I know that Simon is the Father of this site yet who pays for the bandwidth and the hardware????

On to the "C" word..no not that one Censorship.

I don't see it as a problem here. True, some posts have been deleted, with good reason. People have been warned, with good reason. People have been banned, with EXTREMELY good reasons. There are rules, easiest thing to do is follow them. As for Jedi Master and the quote from above? I think he was right. He addressed the issue and was keeping peace. That's what Mods are for.
The language filter issue has been explained and I applaud the management for the insight to implement it. If you want to go off on childish rants with dewdspeak and every other word as a swear then I suggest you stick to AIM or somesuch. This site has the quality and calibre people it does because of the intelligent discussions that take place here. Oh, and the debates are fun too (Where did Lupe go anyway? He was a fun sparring partner)
In closing, I don't understand this "victim" mentality that some show here. I find this to be a very open discussion board and if I didn't why would I keep coming back? When I see someone post as fact that the earth is flat and get abusive with anyone who disagrees and the mods to nothing I will worry. Until then I say we get back to the spooks, greys, reptilians and the BIG one, Politics .

P.S. If you mods ever suppress my post on the earth ACTUALLY being flat I'll start whining!!!!!

Well, heres my take of this...........
It needs to be RESOLVED and the SOONER the BETTER!

This stuff is causing ripples in this community whether anyone see's this or feel's this. If this isn't stopped, ceased, and addressed, those "ripples" will surely grow to tsunami proportions.

Clarifications and interpretations need to be addressed and the name calling, finger pointing, he said she said bullcrap, etc., needs to seriously stop!!

Many don't comment on this but be assurd, the "public" visitor or new member is reading it!!
