You have brought up a very interesting point

if people who suffer gender dysphoria are allowed to take drugs to change their physical appearance and also their own baseline consciousness so they can feel more at ease with their gender dysphoria
then why are other drugs which change human consciousness banned !

If freedom of expression and identity allows those to change their identity at the physical level through hormone treatment then why cant others temporarily alter their baseline consciousness whenever they feel like it

ultimately that is what this comes down to , the individuals right to express themselves the way they see fit , gender dysphoria aside, those who simply wish to identify as something else are allowed to do so an be accepted by society so why then can others take psychoactives or other drugs.

I have a point to make in here somewhere, its about being freely able to express yourself as a human being
and I think advocates for drug use for any reason would do well to support the trans community.
So that all humans can freely express themselves and also explore their own consciousness freely without being told what they can and cannot do with their own bodies !

Depression is also a psychological disorder. Anxiety is also a disorder. What's your point? Estimates of Americans with psychological disorders go from 20% to 80%, depending where you look. I'd wager the actual fact is 100% of people suffer from some disorder at some time in their life.

Transgender people first have to be diagnosed by a psychologist and usually get second opinions too, before being recommended to medical professionals. And there is a long process before they get any medications.

I used to be on your side til I counselled actual transgender people. A delusion is a belief held by someone that is demonstrably false. They are not delusional. They don't say "I have a male body!" when they have a vagina. They have psyches of one gender that doesn't match their body and they usually term it something like "trapped in a man's body". In all i've seen their minds do seem more "the gender they claim" than what their bodies are. But that's subjective, like all things. There are no easy answers in psychology.

More or less. Similar argument was used for homosexuality that it caused suicide and so was clearly a disorder, mistaking causes of external pressure for symptoms.

Actually we stand corrected...it is a girl that wants to be a guy, but due to her plumping she needs to continue to compete with girls. The problem is she is taking Steroids to be a boy and is allowed to still compete.

I would think if/he/she was serious about her/his sports He/she would have delayed the transformation a few years.

What is "all the way"? No matter how far medical advances for transitioning get, people like the ones in this thread will never be satisfied and will just shift the goal posts to "you can't play god" or some other ignorant nonsense.

He's not a dude because of his transition. He's a dude because one hormone bath in the womb didn't match with the second one. There is more evidence pointing at gender dysphoria being a problem with the body than there is evidence suggesting it's a problem with the mind.

Why is this the one condition people refuse to accept new information on? Why is this the one condition where you insist on the person impossibly changing their mind instead of the person very possibly changing their body?

Personally, I blame the "transgender" umbrella and label. The average person out there doesn't make a distinction between a real medical case of gender dysphoria and just a bunch of gender queer highschoolers who insist on new pronouns. Please understand that the two are not related. Hopefully, liberal folks will separate the two issues when it comes to advocacy because all it does is promote transphobia towards actual gender dysphoric people like Mack.

I completely agree with you , the media should be doing more to emphasize that gender dysphoria is completely different from people within society who simply wish to identify as a different sex from their natal sex and that all the gender identity stuff is a separate issue to humans who have gender dysphoria and related issues.
However upon further reflection , this is exactly what the media dont intend on doing as they are happy to keep stirring and getting clicks/views by purposefully being misleading and divisive

I dont see an issue with it , why do we have to separate the sexes from sports, why because some are physically stronger than others, but physical strength isnt always the deciding factor in competition sheer will power and determination alone are often the deciding factor that pushes people beyond what they can achieve physically using their mind and heart as their strength.

The olympics are an example of this

We should encourage more sports to allow the sexes to compete directly not a man vs woman type points scoring , but if a woman and man want to compete against each other let them !
