If you would get over yourself you might realize you don't know everything about everyone, including yourself.

You claim I dislike or hate or just want to deport "brown" people.
I have 3 beautiful "brown" grandchildren, and a wonderful "brown" son in law.
Your an idiot.
Have a nice day.

In 2017 President Trump has spent $91,655,424 of taxpayer money on golf trips according to OMB

That is enough money to feed 50,222 homeless veterans for an entire year.

Let that sink in - 50,222 veterans.

During this shut-down will we still be paying for bone spur trump's golf trips?

That is not what is being commumnicated to the soldiers in uniform on base. They are being told by multiple commanding officers that they will not be paid if this extends beyond the end of the month.

This was also confirmed by an active duty soldier on page 1 of this post.

It's not missing. It wasn't accounted for in the main budget, it was accounted for in the program budgets. It's the same thing that was found back in 2000, that everyone claims was the reason for 9/11. That's why they're doing an audit. They're having to go back to every single program for the last 20 years or so, and manually account for the money and the budget for each year.

It was also said by both the Secretary of Defense, and the Deputy Defense Secretary.

Bluechevytree, you are 100% spot on. I am sick of hearing "it's not their fault they were brought here". If we'd gotten the wall in the 80's when the last amnesty was approved (along with the wall), they wouldn't be here and we wouldn't be in this situation. Deport anyone who didn't come here legally. They can apply for re-admission the legal way.

Before we condemn the Democrats for this action also condemn the Republicans as well:

Why was this not important to get this on the table and passed, when it was due? The bill that provided the military with money came due in 2017 when the prior one expired. Why was it not brought to the forefront and table at that time frame, about 3 months ago?

Far too many bills that pay for things like the military are often set in one year blocs that when they expire, they are often used as a political wedge by the party in control, which happens to be the Republicans. They waited until now, and thus they are equally at fault for this, instead of bringing it to the forefront. Don't you think that when these programs and expenditures should be attended to immediately, instead of waiting until the last minutes or put it off with a CR?

Let this sink in the congress, the people who are suppose to be governing and handling this, chose to make payment of various items, such as the military a political wedge and stunt. The Republicans are guilty, cause they set the agenda, controlling the house and senate, setting the agenda, and using this against the Democrats, and the Democrats are guilty cause they took the bait.

Many others don't get paid during shut down(me included) Here's how it works for federal employees, I've been through two of these so far now.

As a Federal Employee
1) I am notified that there is an imminent shut down- we all know at least a week before hand, sometimes more. (Our agency heads have been notifying us of each likely shutdown, and consequent temporary continuation since end of Nov. when all this started)
2) We are instructed that ANY none essential personnel will not be working during the shut down, and if you are working you will not be paid until the shutdown is lifted.
3) A new twist this time- even some essential personnel are being sent home.

I received an email on Friday telling me to return to my permanent duty station by Monday morning and not to report to work in the event of an instituted shutdown.
But, I will tell you this, it's unlikely this will last more than a week two at most. There are too many services that we Americans require that are provided by our government for a shut down to last long. The whole shutdown is meant to reinforce something many politicians often forget "You don't always get what you want-take the best you can for your constituents, and go on"

"Your" an idiot.

That's perfect.

I have heard here that an 18 year old who came here at 2 years old, was expected to report themselves for deportation and report their parents.

That kind of absurd sort of thinking, entirely lacking in any common sense and empathy, is precisely what results in the anger and feeling of futility that one gets in dealing with the modern day conservative.

I find it important to ask, are you people here calling for prison time for the CEOs of Hilton Hotels, Dole Fruit, Archer Daniels Midland, Tyson Chicken, well over half the diarymen in the country, the type of people that have knowingly, gleefully employed illegal aliens for decades?

Someone right above is screaming about the fact he didn't get his wall in the 80s. There was a very very effective "Wall" available to them, one cheaper and infinitely tighter than some brick thing on the Rio Grande, it is called enforcement of criminal penalties for hiring undocumented immigrants. It's called a system that prevented hiring of undocumented workers.

Obviously that was never done because that hurt those same CEOs, the same farmers. Today, if the blood-lust of conservatives here were realized, and the government deported every DACA child, and every undocumented worker, the economies of California, Texas and Florida would collapse withing a month. Agriculture is the second biggest industry in the country after energy.

Conservatives want it both ways, they want their strawberries to be $3 and not $5, they want their hotel rooms at $135 and not $200, the CEOs want $20 million a year in compensation, not $10 million, and yet they also want the brown people gone, without regard to criminality (DACA recipients all passed a background check, and lawfully registered) or employment.

I'm no idiot. I believe in different principles than conservatives, but I don't hate real conservatives. I can't stand the nativists and racists that use immigration and purported "saved money" as justification for their beliefs. I have #loads of conservative friends and have worked politically with conservatives all my life. It is the Alt-Right that cannot be worked with, the people so far over the event horizon that they represent fascism in place here. That, I fight to the last day.

To the extent I'm an idiot, fine, I'd rather be an idiot that the type of distilled hatred I see pocketed around here. They are the people that need get over themselves. I am the one - myself and other Democrats - that are hated more than Russians, by far. So, i shouldn't be surprised. Yet, I always am.

Thats because military pay is funded through three 19th of January. They will get paid full amount until the 19th then the pay will stop.

Yes , I do hate abuses by megacorps, and would love to see them punished and put out of buisness.
I've even done a thread on Nestlé about that, only to be attacked for it.

I called you an idiot for thinking I'm some racist who hates brown people. I apologize for that- I just don't like being called what I'm not.
But at the end of the day these political stunts about immigration is not really about the people who suffer.
Maybe for people like you and I it is- as that is the compassionate thing humans do.
But for these asshats in politics, it's just power base and cash being secured for the future.
Neither democrats or republicans in politics give a rats ass about actual people - only the control of those people.
Again - my apologies for name calling.

Senator Duckworth who lost both her legs in Iraq rips trump as a draft dodger. LOL

“I spent my entire adult life looking out for the well-being, the training, the equipping of the troops for whom I was responsible. I will not be lectured about what our military needs by a five-deferment draft dodger.”

“I have a message for Cadet Bone Spurs: If you cared about our military, you’d stop baiting Kim Jong-un into a war that could put 85,000 American troops — and millions of innocent civilians — in danger.”

Bless his heart.

I think you have it backwards, they are the ones cashing the checks politicians write. If they are not too young to die, they are not to young to marry. They are not getting handouts as you suggest, those kids deserve every penny they get.

Normally they can afford it as long as they are paid for working. You try to go a month without being payed that hurts any family.

I would never argue that big money controls the United States government, I've written 800 pages of fiction and 3 novels on the very topic.

I simply find the Republicans to be more cynical than even Dems, and that takes a great deal of work at times, and yet they do it, over and over again.

I find it ironic that the reason there are so many illegal aliens here is that for 3 generations American big business wanted them here for what essentially became slave labor, No jobs, no immigration. We used them, and that's why there's be no change, the unspoken agreement between Wall Street and the republican pols, gin up the anger of the people that don't want "immigrants" (especially non-Norweigans) bc there is always a big subset of those folks.

If one is calling for deportation of people who have been here since age 3 and have lived productive crime-free lives (as DACA has) but don't want prison time for those CEOs and managers that hired their parents, it leaves little satisfying explanation except for hard truths.

Thank you for the reply, that was nice of you, and I get too over-cooked at times.

Isn't it amazing how we can hang out our military, poor kids, and low level federal employees. Congress still gets paid. Kinda reminds me of Obama Care. It was good enough for everyone but them.
Reguardless of what you think of the DACA situation, you have to admit that they are putting illegal immigrants ahead of Americans. I can believe that there is not more outrage than what we have seen.
