Nice post. I also came to a clear conclusion on how to survive a police encounter.
Unfortunately, mines involves having my firearm in action before them, then disarming myself and surrendering. Then I can let the jury decide if I feared for my life. That excuse should suffice for citizens as well as the police, correct?
As a side note,,, isn't it sad that as a black man in America, I have more chance of being killed by the police than by ISIS? Go figure.
As a side note, I don't condone the idea of a race war.
As a veteran, I am willing to give my life to defend the rights of ALL people in the United States. I just would like to see all of us receive the same fair treatment that we deserve, no matter our color, beliefs or orientations.

Thank you for this wonderful illustration! I wish people could understand this, but it's as if there is a great conspiracy (maybe those contrails , no not really lol) where something is happening that is not allowing a very large segment of the population to think with logic.. I had an issue with an acquaintance of mine, and he wanted to short change me (long story but most 1st graders would have seen this) based on extremely flawed logic... I was completely stunned and this guy had a master's degree! I literally had to draw a diagram like yours to show that what he was asking me to do was extremely unfair. He was very insulted by my diagram but he put me in that position by trying to rip me off. After this, along with many other encounters I've had with various people, it has made me wonder if there are people out there that just aren't wired to think logically, and I'm not necasarily talking about any particular race. It truly does seem to me that there is an anti-logic movement and quite frankly this is incredibly scary, because it's the logical thinkers of humanity that have always pushed us towards progress!

Yes, I actually do find that sad. My problem is that I feel I shouldn't have to be worrying about the police killing me.

"Don't be a dumbass, use your head" is as vague... but I get the whole "only stupids get shot by cops" used to exonerate police who unjustly shoot citizens, over a thousand times a year.

The idea is, I know it's shocking, that courts are those who try cases. You do not assert innocence or argue with an arrest.

Fighting an arrest gets you shot. Fighting a charge can get you exonerated. It's hard to understand, I know, so hard. If you are combative to police you will always lose. If you battle in the courtroom you can win.

In a perfect world nobody would need to worry about people killing us. Sadly many people, especially the poor, are forced to live with scumbag neighbors who do not value human life.

For some reason the actual statistical risk of being killed by a loved one, local hood, or a cop, is being completely ignored.

Poor communities need less internal policing from violent people within the community and more external policing. Funny the parallel between high level government thugs and poor communities in this. They all seem to gravitate away from external oversight.

The one guy was mentally ill, not retarded, and he fought the police. He wasn't shot, either. The guy in the car, with the gun, there is no video of the actual shooting, just video of after, and the claims of the GF, who admits the guy reached for the gun. No proof yet of a permit, either, for the record. You only listed two incidents, by the way.

Dear ATS people, the police you are defending now, once law to ban guns will be passed, those same policemen are going to take your guns away and if you resist will shoot you.
