It's funny, I don't really know anyone that has ever patted men on the back for being promiscuous, but then again, I don't know many women that have been really ostracized for theirs... This seems like an urban legend, something that happened to 'a friend-of-a-friend,' or something fairly media driven. I never really wanted to be the multiple sex partner guy, when I saw a PSA that said that you sleep with every person the other person has ever slept with... That went for cigs too once the lady with the tracheotomy came to school and gave an assembly. God bless ya.

Obama, the federal government, and the state government are hypocrites.

Yea sure they aren't sluts, but if a women choose to sell their bodies, then they are a whore, slut, escort, street-walker, etc...., and their are laws against that.

That is where the term whore originated.

If this is Obama's strong belief, then instead of him giving lip service, make prostitution legal across the USA, and then women will be less likely exploited by pimps, the legal system, and men looking for sex.

If they want to take the shame out of sex start at the highest levels, and propose a bill for legalizing the sex industry. We can't have one set of rules for women that don't sell their bodies, while still holding and maintaining legally that women are whores, if they sell their bodies.

People (even Presidents) can't comment on multiple issues? WTF are you doing commenting here then, when there are a multitude of Islamist Terrorism threads that need your full and immediate attention.

What Obama is saying is so fugging positive it's amazing anyone is complaining about it.

I shouldn't be surprised though. Haters are gonna be haters.

I think the problem lies in the message that the President is sending. It is a bit backwards.

A president should be motivating the people to a strive for a higher, more responsible level of behavior. One that includes a safer and more responsible lifestyle.

I think his message would have been better accepted if he had encouraged men to modify their behavior, and to develop a less promiscuous lifestyle, instead of asking then to accept women who participate in an equally promiscuous, sex life.

I like how with these issues between the sexes, everyone just assumes it's a social issue and has no root in biology and evolution. But apparently, the whole transgender thing is entirely rooted in biology. Odd, that.

The reason promiscuous women are shamed and trashed is because promiscuously lowers their value as a mate. Think about it--- the imperative for men is to "spread their seed", try to spawn the most offspring so that his genetic line isn't extinguished. A woman who is promiscuous and sleeps around is a liability for a man in a monogamous relationship; she might be cheating, and there's that possibility that the offspring aren't his own. Therefore, there's the risk that his genetic line might fail. Of course we have tests now that can determine the father of kids, but that's a new thing. This is all rooted in biology and instinct.

I think that women should start being more rational about this stuff and less reactionary and emotional. There is a rational, evolutionary reason why you are shamed for being a whore.

President Obama just condemned an ancient double-standard.

the key word is ancient... ya know, it's an idea that has been around throughout the ages..
it's okay for men to have, but women should keep themselves pure and chaste...
it all boils down to the fact that women have children,
and men really do want to know which children are his.
I don't know what it's like now, but when I was in high school, ya, the girls that liked to have that kind of fun weren't thought of that highly really. whereas, the guys well, really had no problems going out with them and having fun. but, when it came to marriage, they really didn't want to marry a girl that was so loose, and I really don't think many of you men would either. I mean, do you really want to marry someone who then has a baby 8 and a half months later and leaves you wondering weather or not the child is really yours? luckily today, we have genetic testing to clear things up, but it's a rather new thing and it seems that cultural taboos last a rather long time.

most of the oppression of women in history probably can be traced back to that one desire of men, to be secure in their fatherhood.

Right to the point.

I will also add that douching is said to be unhealthy. Now think about what would happen prior to the invention of barrier contraceptives? A dozen+ partners that day, and it wouldn't be pretty.

BTW, I also agree with the legalization of prostitution.

So Obama is apparently trying to 'shame' men.

Being born either as a man or woman doesn't mean too much these days

Since we can turn ourselves in to the other.

Seriously ?

WHAT THE HELL is up with Obama's party obsession with sex?

No. He is pointing out a quite blatant double standard.

It's not them who are passing laws about it.

So, I guess all politicians should all just shut up.

I feel like Americans are hypocrites insofar as they seek out carnal, emotionless sex when they're young and maybe seek more meaningful relationships when they get a bit older, if for no other reason than they think they will be found less attractive to the opposite sex. Sex alone does not have any determining effect on compatibility or chemistry in a relationship. Sex is sex.

I find men who want wild girls early in life, and then want to settle down with a "nicer girl" after 35-ish, to be hypocrites.
Intelligent men don't often put high expectations in women they perceive as "whores". They want one thing from them. Its physical and shallow.

How do you feel about older men with their concubine?
How do you feel about cougars?

Its fine with me I guess. Its not my place to judge them and I don't find it morally reprehensible.

But again, I feel like those relationships may be more "carnal" than "emotional".

I'm gonna try to break my opinion down to be as simple as possible.

I'm guessing what we're all searching or in life is true happiness, being content.
If we allow the world/media to dictate what is acceptable we compromise our chances of happiness.

We need to ask ourselfs what kind of human we want to be.
If whoring around is part of who you want to be, male or female, then that is your choice, but I doubt that it'll make you happy. If it does good for you.

On the other hand; humans are social animals. Or animals whose existence seems to thrive on social interaction and cooperation. "Do what you like" Is not really conducive to social interaction and cooperation.

"Hey man, it's cool. We can share our ol' ladies, man." Never seems to work out.

I think the point is that if a woman gives one man a blowjob and talks about it, then she's a ho.

Hell, she doesn't even have to give anyone a blowjob, she just has to talk about how sometimes she gets horny... then she's a massive slut basically asking to get her throat fugged. Right?

But a man can stick it in twenty girls and it's just biology. It's a-ok. Talk about it all you like... men are "horn-dogs." We all accept it.

So it seems... men are allowed to be horny. Women are not.

And isn't that unfair?

Women bring most of the shaming on themselves... or each other I should say.

Its a rare thing for a man to call a women a slut, or a whore unless its a fight (at which point the female usually calls the man many names under the sun as well) alls fair in love and war.

I find women shaming more often than not comes from women. Men don't really give a dam, hell we'd like it if women were more adventurous and outgoing with their sex lives.. mostly.

You wont be able to shame men when it comes to sex. We're animals, its our natural instinct to mate. humanity and our brain has just made us understand its not our right to take it and we need to reason with others.
