We're animals, its our natural instinct to mate.

And, of course, mating has no part in female animal instinct.
Or are you only talking about your experience?

Men are designed to mate
Women are made to find a compatible mate to produce offspring

there's a difference, atleast in my opinion - but i know that means nothing to you!

On the contrary. I find many opinions intriguing.

I didn't read the preceding 7 pages. So shoot me.

I don't think there is any mystery to this behavior. Just watch nature, see how it works in the animal world, then remind yourself that we are animals.

The female being discriminatory encourages males to compete with each other for mating privileges. It supports the increased survival of the strongest, fastest most intelligent males , which is beneficial for the evolution of the species.

It also encourages a male to protect the female during gestation and when she is handicapped by having a baby to care for, motivated by drives to further his own DNA.
If the child is not of his own DNA, then he wastes his energy and time (that could have been spent reproducing and protecting his own elsewhere). So it is a natural drive also, for females who are less promiscuous to be of higher value to a community and more attractive to men.

The point could be raised, that the current state of our society and technology makes these concerns obsolete. We have birth control, we use sex as entertainment and purely for pleasure, and women can care for their children without aid of another, do not need aid or protection while pregnant, and we don not necessarily need strong or intelligent males for reproduction- being physically or mentally weak is acceptable in our society.

I am not sure I would agree with those assertions though, and personally feel that evolution of our species is still happening right now and that these natural drives have reason for being. I respect everyones right to live as they wish though. I personally taught my daughter to be discerning, for the above reasons. Others can do as they wish, but no, don't bother telling me I have to applaud it all.

What did you teach your sons?

The same thing- be discerning.

But I did not refer to that because one of my sons screwed up. He relied on internet communication for his discernment process, and it failed badly. He was taken in by a much older lesbian who wanted a sperm donor.

The other son and daughter did well in their choices... but because that one made such a big mistake in judgement (and suffers so badly from it) I consider that my method with sons was somehow faulty, and until I figure out where I went wrong, I am not going to stand behind it.

Perhaps it needs to be pointed out to boys that they should look around and be aware of other potential male suitors to compete with- if there aren't any, be wary.

See. That's a funny thing. As a male adolescent, I never, ever, thought of women (girls, then) as "prey." The thing is, I don't recall my father ever giving me any fatherly advice about women nor do I recall my mother ever saying much about it. I did have two sisters (and two brothers) so maybe that had something to do with it.

So based admittedly on my own experience, I find the "boys just will be boys" argument specious.

And to keep the record straight, I fell in love at 15 and was with her for 7 years.

Can you explain how your bolded text indicates that sexism exists everywhere?

I think when two people are comfortable in their own skin power struggles don't happen, it seems so in my first hand experience anyway.

If you read over their "theory" based definitions, the perception of a power imbalance by any party involved in the interaction makes the interaction sexist against women . . .

I provided evidence as to why there are people who would not want to be called feminists, however your replies seem focused merely on defending your personal version of feminism.

I don't see any point in further discussion if you haven't encountered the brand of feminism I encounter most and respond in a fashion which merely defends your version while denying my personal experience.

I think its an attitude that has only come about in the last 10-15yrs with the mass spreading of internet and social media.

Back then, women as prey only existed for predatory males. Now everyone wants to post their deeds online and appear to be more than they are for their ''social network''

look how many college kids are getting done for rape, photos of drunk girls passed out, sexual assault etc etc...

"Barack Obama says women should not be shamed for having sex while men get a pat on the back."

I dunno, some men and women like their privacy. I for one never liked having sex with the Misses while being pat on the back by Barack Obama and him telling the Misses she shouldn't be ashamed for that. That is just weird.

But whatever floats your boat I guess.

No. The "attitude" has been around for a very, very long time.
And for a very, very long time the excuse has been, "Boys will be boys. They just can't control themselves. But girls are different."

Did you watch that documentary "The Hunting Ground"?

No offense but their 1/5 stat is based off a self reporting survey of a single campus, hardly a representative sample. Also the data collected on these so called "predator" men (not to be confused with super predators) shows that the vast majority of assaults are perpetrated by a small subset of repeat offenders (men).

Yes we are! We love being social and social cohesion is crucial. But once again, I think we're saying exactly the same thing because media/the rest of the world are the ones telling us pc is the way forward and everyone should do what they like. Or am I wrong here?

I'm fine with people doing whatever they want IF THATS WHAT BRINGS THEM HAPPINESS.

If humans are doing something that doesn't make them happy, but they do it anyway because 'hey! Everybody's doing it' then they need to take a step back and re-asses their happiness.
