Simple...we are the biggest consumers in the world. Our consumerism will make or break a company.We make them an offer that they can't refuse...come back home or lose us as a customer.

Exactly. Everyone always remembers the best parts of the past. When we think back, we always remember the good times easier than the bad times.

Hell, I was a child of the 1980's. I love 80's stuff...was the 1980's the best time to be alive? It sure feels like it to me, but that's my OPINION, coming from memory of being a CHILD in the 1980's.

If you were a straight white male in the 1950's, you would remember it very favorably, just as I remember the 80's favorably from my childhood memories.

I happen to disagree that the 40's and 50's were such a great time to be alive and in the U.S.. For some, certainly it was...but for a significant portion of the population, not so much.

Locked into internment camps during the war.

Denied equal access to facilities of all sorts.

You're smart enough to come up with additions to this list.

Yeah, you're right. I ain't looking for a racial struggle or class warfare behind every shrub. I'm looking for solutions so that my daughter will have a good future.

Trump wants to charge higher tariffs on goods made outside the US.

It would be in a companies best interest to start manufacturing inside the US again.

And that will do nothing but hurt the middle class and poor who will have to pay higher prices for things at places like Walmart and similar stores

Tariffs would just make it worse, you trump supporters really need to research the effect of the crap he's proposing instead of just parroting it back like a drone.

The wonderful thing about the internet is that it hides our identities. No one really knows who is who or what race, sex, nationality, or religion or creed anyone is.

I just muse over who these people really are calling me "racist" and "sexist" and of using race to be "decisive".

As if sweeping racial issues under a rug has ever made them magically go away. As if the color of your skin, your gender, or who you love never mattered or impacted one's quality of life in this country.

Uh...what about the trade deals that our 'government ' made that basically screwed us all? It's really simple...terminate those deals, tarriff imports, heavily tax overseas labor, and watch those industries return

This thread isn't a mess. I'm sorry you feel that way, and I'm sorry it isn't going the direction you feel it should be going. I'm sorry that people like myself don't "fall in line" behind people like you, and agree that the 50's and 60's weren't as great as Mr. Trump claims they were.

If you all honestly think that Trump wants to bring back slavery and kill kittens and inter Japanese citizens, then there is absolutely nothing I can say that would change your mind.
