And your the gift that won't get with the program huh. Please refrain from personal attacks. If you don't agree then fine that is your prerogative but let's not getting ugly about this.

I think you advocating the slavery of other humans is the epitome of UGLY.

And I think you misunderstanding what I'm saying is obtuse then to go on and regurgitate what seems to be the popular opinion in this thread is a desperate attempt for stars 👍

So being against the reintroduction of slavery is fishing for stars?

Well damn..we might have just found that bottom of the barrel afterall

I think the popular opinion in this thread has been that slavery, and indentured servitude, is bad.

Wouldn't you agree with that?

Slavery absolutely the other NO it is a choice and I'm all about freewill and freedom of choice. Sometimes we have to make tough choices.

I don't give a flyin ++++ about popular opinion or stars. What I care about is the dignity of my fellow human beings, not to become property of the state; that that jack+++ is advocating.

Why don't we just call these guys (whenever they pop up) Schrödinger's Jerks.

It's only when they are observed that their opinion seems to matter.

Yet another one that does not understand words or their meaning. Most likely a product of the bottom of the barrel of our education system

Here goes the liberal pc police again. Why do liberals get offended so easily? This is a non issue, but you liberals can't stop whining for a minute. Omg they want slavery! Lol. Maybe if we enslaved them they would stop coming here! Ever think about that?! This man is just speaking his mind and he doesn't find it offensive so neither should anyone else!

Perhaps not, but this bit was in the Opening Post:

And we start using compelled labor, the people who are here illegally would therefore be owned by the state and become an asset of the state rather than a liability and we start inventing jobs for them to do.

Owned by the state and property of the state.

That, in my mind, is slavery in (t)he purest sense of the word.

Let me put it like, I did the exact thing I'm suggesting for 4 years courtesy of the Marine Corps. I made a choice to be subjected to squalid living conditions, sub standard food and crap pay for the effort I had to exert.

I served THIS COUNTRY and reaped the benefits of my service including a sense of pride. I never fully agreed with what he said but merely suggested changing it a bit to make it more humanitarian.

So if you can't understand what I meant after this post the do not even communicate with me for I view you as a threat to this nation and you certainly would not like my opinion on those. Good day.

I hear what you're saying. But think it through. What happens when one "chooses" NOT to be indentured anymore? What if they run in the middle of the night? Didn't slaves choose to run? What happened to them? Would some people start an "Underground Railroad" to help the servants who choose to be free of the chains of the state?

Indentured servitude LED to slavery. It would happen again, not with one law or one act, but slowly, over time.

The transformation from indentured servitude to slavery has historical precedence.

Source

One of the places we have the clearest views of that "terrible transformation" is the colony of Virginia. In the early years of the colony, many Africans and poor whites -- most of the laborers came from the English working class -- stood on the same ground. Black and white women worked side-by-side in the fields. Black and white men who broke their servant contract were equally punished.

All were indentured servants. During their time as servants, they were fed and housed. Afterwards, they would be given what were known as "freedom dues," which usually included a piece of land and supplies, including a gun. Black-skinned or white-skinned, they became free.
...
This disorder that the indentured servant system had created made racial slavery to southern slaveholders much more attractive, because what were black slaves now? Well, they were a permanent dependent labor force, who could be defined as a people set apart. They were racially set apart. They were outsiders. They were strangers and in many ways throughout the world, slavery has taken root, especially where people are considered outsiders and can be put in a permanent status of slavery.

- David Blight, historian

I just think you haven't thought of the possibilities.

So I had to re-read the 13th amendment to see why he kept saying what he wanted to do was legal. I guess he's going by the part that says you can't have slavery except as punishment for a crime. So, he's saying that it's like a sort of prison for people who are committing a crime by being here.

But the way he's talking about it actually reminds me of something else:

...the Reich Citizenship Law, which declared that only those of German or related blood were eligible to be Reich citizens; the remainder were classed as state subjects

and it makes me wonder if this is the next step:

Persons convicted of violating the marriage law were imprisoned, and (subsequent to 8 March 1938) upon completing their sentences were re-arrested by the Gestapo and sent to Nazi concentration camps.
By 1938 it was almost impossible for potential Jewish emigrants to find a country willing to take them. Mass deportation schemes such as the Madagascar Plan proved to be impossible for the Nazis to carry out, and sometime around December 1941, Hitler resolved that the Jews of Europe were to be exterminated.

Ok same thing with folks that violate their contract and go AWOL, upon apprehension they serve a jail sentence and/or in this case they get shipped back home. No biggie there right?

I, as well, have served in the Canadian Army, and put up with dismal conditions within the Artillery.

Never, ever, will I dismiss those years as not worth it and salute every man and woman who serves, regardless of what country we're discussing. However, the same sentiments do not extend towards the numbskull politicians who see soldiers as 'fodder' for political gain.

What that has to do with slavery, I have no idea, other than perhaps some politicians might listen to that Iowa talk show host and think it's a good idea. It's not.

Contract, as in a voluntary state of service. As in they did not come and drag you out of your house, specifically because of some genetic trait you possessed, and then forced you to serve. Right?

Even in times of draft it is done via lottery. Now we can speculate that the lottery is crooked... or maybe that it seemed to pick on one group or another, but it was still a lottery.

Forced labor based upon a genetic trait is slavery, no matter how one dresses it up. We have existing laws to deal with undocumented immigrants. If those are not being enforced effectively, then that is the discussion we should have - not this one.
