But I guess a traitor's flag, designed by a racist, for an enemy's lost cause is worth shooting someone over...

The sad part is that is what it often takes for criminals to understand that they need to change their ways.

Police kill people quite often for no crime and it is deemed acceptable.

Just a drop in the bucket of the violence which is sure to follow the increasing public brandishing of the racist, pro slavery, pro segregation, confederate flag.

Sure people will die, people will kill, people will be killed. Eventually the flag is going to have to go. . . . Why you may ask because it incites violence against African Americans as well as every other non caucasian person on earth.

Actually, people committing illegal acts incites violence

But that's ok right ? It's still the flag people's fault even though they are the ones having the crime committed against them?

I can't fathom some peoples logic and the mental gymnastics they have to perform to justify this or any act that might be committed against a person clearly stealing and trespassing

It can't be said with certainty that you wouldn't be hanged for stealing a horse around these parts.

But take solace in knowing: if no one steals anyone else's property, there likely isn't much opportunity for anyone to get shot. Regardless, if you aren't from the country (where 911 rings to a phone 30 minutes away), it might be hard to fathom the "shoot first" mentality. But surely you have read about some of the stuff that happens near the border with Mexico here, right?

I'm in a little bitty town here in Texas just outside of Graham

There has been a rash of attempted thefts. One in broad daylight

Sheriff out here already made the statement about people being justified to take care of the problem if it happens around their property

Here police are first responders. We are in charge of takin care of ourselves

These people doing stuff like this take their lives into their own hands doing stupid crap

But calling for bullets to fire...
Tsk tsk tsk.

That's shameful.

Who is calling for bullets to fire? I see some people recognizing the possibility, even the eventuality of someone getting shot. But I haven't seen anyone call for shots to be fired.

That's one way of looking at it.

Another would be to ask the thieves if the flag is worth getting shot over.

The fact that you actually believe that, is mind-numbing.

I'd buy the trespassing schtick if it was in people's houses...
Or a crime that could lead to that...

This is more equivalent to someone doing a baseball bat drive by on people's mailboxes.

Sure it's idiotic and criminal, but the family and property are hardly in trouble...

A 3 dollar flag isn't worth shooting someone.

I must choose. My goats or my flag? I only have one hot fence box...

Could you just imagine the you tube hits?

Charlie replace th e confederate flag with a quran. now imagine people stealing them from you and burning them. Do you see where im going with this? Woudnt you shoot a thief stealing from you? Stealing is stealing no matter the object.

Stealing from my house, yeah...

Anything I leave outside that's worth a buck fifty isn't worth killing, or even wounding someone imo.

I'd just put another flag up...
Next to a beware of dog sign

So I guess you don't own a car.

True,EXCEPT for them stealing my flag off my car which is considered personal property just as a house is. Someone tries to yank it off my car gets a bullet to the face

No but that's a nice example of when I'd support shooting.

Unless it's already in motion.

Are we gonna do the circle jerk tango, or agree that this is an apples and oranges scenario?

lol I'm sure the butt of the gun would be an equal deterrent.

Let's ask the exact opposite of this, then: Is stealing a $3 flag worth risking getting shot over?

Short of this devolving into a firearms, off-topic debate, pistol whipping people is typically not a legally supported tactic in most cases.

It is stealing and or destruction of private property.

I fly the US flag out front and if I caught someone trying to steal or destroy it they would be facing the end of a barrel. I am not dumb so I wouldn't shoot for just that, but I would be secretly hoping they would give me an excuse to do so with their further actions.

Property is property and no one has to agree with the symbolism, but they better damn well realise it isn't theirs.

Wow, you really are that clueless. You have no idea how beautiful that was or why. I won't elaborate for you, you don't deserve to know.

I just saw it as anti-American, and ignorant. Stifling free speech is as unamerican as it gets.

Symbols like flags mean MANY different things to different people, if you can't understand that then maybe people don't have the empathy the other poster claimed to have earlier in this thread.
