With each generation it will become simply a non issue. Part of the awakening for others I think came about when they realized how many people they already knew that were gay or bi. Then it clicked, "Oh wait a minute. I've known this guy/girl forever and they're totally normal. (Whatever normal is anyway)

People fear what they don't know. Once they find out that they've known the people they fear very well actually, just never realized that part about them. The fear fades pretty fast.

Pan-fried gives the impression that you've had just about enough of everyone for a while.

In fact I would now like to coin a new term on the gender spectrum. I am no longer gender fluid but I am now Rainbow Water. That is my new gender Rainbow water.

how about bed-pan, meaning they will take male or female in to thier bed.

Also, I don't get the 'fish' conndction either.

Fish = woman for reasons that I won't mention. Not necessarily the nicest of origins but then again it was created by gay men who can be catty as hell. So fish meaning looks like a woman that was born a woman.

I think that's already covered with the "Pan" prefix. With the reference of Bed making Bed-Pan to me seems like a play on words along the lines of "Golden Shower". But that's just me. I'm not too good and language games in the first place. But that is the kind of reference I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want anyone making a mistake about either. Might cause some embarrassment at the wrong time, you know what I mean???

Really? I thought the State Department changed their policy to accept the gender on state's drivers licences? Of course in some states (Alabama i think?) they won't even change the gender marker on the driver's license. I count myself lucky to have been born in a state where the gender marker was changed on my birth certificate before I even learned to drive

Hey! You are right! Looks like it changed in 2010 when I wasn't paying attention.

You still have to provide proof of citizenship such as a birth certificate and a specifically worded letter from your physician. I used to have a letter that I can't find from 1977 but it didn't meet the current requirements and my surgeon passed away in 2006. I suppose if traveling out of the country was really on my radar, I could find a doctor to write the required letter but since I changed my driver's license in 1974, having a birth certificate with an F would sure be a lot less hassle and a lot less uncomfortable to deal with.

Today was a landmark for gay and lesbian equality but does nothing where discrimination is still legal in housing, employment and other matters nor does address anything regarding transsexual and transgender issues. A major victory, yes, but the fight is not over.

OMG, I watched the 700 Club for about 5 seconds before I wanted to throw up.

Seems, the SC stole a religious institution from Christians.

Do you mean that these slang terms are Group specific in their usage or understanding???

I'm assuming FtM is Female to Male???

Sorry, if I seem lost, these new slang terms are difficult for us old guys...

Yes FtM means male to female. As for vernacular habits all I can say is different regions use different slang. I travel a lot and my time in the military taught me all about regional differences in language. Do you say soda or pop?

Always the military. Buddy of mine was a in the Navy for 6 years and was quite entertaining as well.

Soda. Although I've known a few "Pop" people though. They are usually form the midwest or south I think.

Oh, I HEAR you DP.

Far be it from me to suggest that we "turn the other cheek."

Someone slaps me, my first tendency is to slap back harder. Or, in actuality, gut-punch; I admit I'm not much of a lady.

Some folks here always want to try to minimize this question by suggesting that we're as "bad as the bigots" if we stand up for ourselves, although, when it comes time for the Christian to tell us what amoral, against nature, freaks we are, why we should just take that, because afterall, that's their religious belief and free speech.

I'm suggesting here that the presumption behind that comment is specious BS; I don't think you or I want anyone to "like us" or "change their religious beliefs" ... we just want to go about our lives as everyone else, getting married, buying cakes, not being arrested for "looking suspicious" or being tied to a fence in the middle of nowhere and tortured to death because we "looked at someone" wrong.

It's the false equivalency that if we "fight back," then we're just as bigoted as the bigots are.

Typical political double-speak.
