Remember what Carlin said about words only have meaning, depending upon the context they were used in? Otherwise they in themselves have no meaning. I think the same metaphor can be used for flags.

I almost never respond to your posts so I don't know where this cherry picking your posts comes from. You appeared to be justifying slavery, if that's not the case which is still not very apparent... then I apologize.

Did you see all the white people protesting the flag? I think the State of South Carolina should have a referendum and let the people of the state decide. If they vote to remove it from the capitol, then put it in a museum. The flag deserves to have its place in history.

The symbol does not create the thought, the thought creates the symbol. What good is burning the symbol when the thought remains untouched? You may destroy the symbol wherever you find it but you cannot burn it from memory so attempting to remove it from sight is useless rhetoric.

People see a swastika and turn away in revulsion. Someday it will be the same with this flag. It should have already happened. (And please don't anyone remind of freedom.... I'm aware of that, already, truly I am.)

I'm just pointing out natural consequences. You advertise something like that, and you will be shunned by society.

Every great journey begins with a single step, and removing the Confederate flag from state houses etc making it like the Nazi flag would be a step in the correct direction.

If people want to burn it and protest they are free to do so till thier hearts content. The message is being herd across America, even tsunamis started off as small waves. . . .

I agree with that it does have it's place in history as does remembering the holocaust. We learn from our mistakes, and we must not forget them, and never repeat them.

Apology accepted. Still where does a Flag something in animate becoem a racist? ALso Since now we know there is really no such thing Scientifically as "races"(except for the HUMAN ONE) and just ethnicities Instead of focusing on "racism" we need to educate people on the facts. That wont happen though until we as individuals stop doing it and it trickles UP into the government. Vandalizing a statue of soldiers who kept the city from being burnt to the ground is a poor way to argue against racism.

So has the american flag. It was just as prevalent in the segregation and slave times. I see plenty of them in the Sgeregation protest pictures,so why not demand they take that one down too? Or is that one free speech and heritage?

But please do disregard the fact that the heritage that I'm referring to is a heritage that revolves around hatred of blacks, public lynchings and slaves!
