Israel has manipulated and continues to manipulate spy on and play in US politics and policy from before I was born. Every war I have been deployed to in part was because of their government's interference.

All combat veterans of at least the last 20 years have good reason to dislike Israeli government.

I like the people and am friends with many that are from or continue living there. It is their government I can't stand.

Israelis have done nothing to me personally and I dare say that many others will admit the same.

However the same can't be said about their prez, who I believe is truly a snake in the grass.The fact the the Yahoo can talk the talk when it comes to Palestine but when it comes to the latest nuclear talks he says this:

First, yes real anti-semites exist.

HOWEVER, those who legitimately question Israel's actions towards the Palestinians IS NOT "anti-jewish" or "antisemitic." The moment someone says that, it shows that they are either brainwashed, low intelligence, or manipulating.

Second, I have many friends who are Palestinian and Lebanese, that live now here in NY. They have experienced some of the issues.

Third, some of us work in international affairs, and it is our job in part to judge these situations.

Fourth, I have many friends who are either Israeli or Jewish but not from Israel. My questioning of Israel has nothing to do with Jews in general, just as my calling out George Bush on the Iraq War has nothing to do with "hating all Americans."

I care not that they are jew whether racially or religiously, their actions throughout time speak for them. They do things that piss everyone in the world off, then have the nerve to cry victim when called on it. Israel only brings the underlying problem to the world stage which is good, but the Palestinian people are sacrificed for this to happen. We as species spent soo much time mastering our surroundings while the jews were mastering us. All in all an un-winnable situation for us all, including themselves. I am just being honest folks, if we all got together once and told them to knock it off, we maybe can move forward in a meaningful way.

I've always found it a bit hypocritical how the same people who enjoy bashing Israel about their "human rights record" tend to be the same people that defend Russia (terrible human rights record), Iran, etc. Gay people are persecuted severely in these nations, as are political dissidents, yet they get a free pass simply because they aren't "western" while Israel has a thriving LGBT community and political parties that aren't mainstream enjoy the freedom to voice their opinions without being locked up. Where Israel draws the line is on those who refuse to acknowledge their right to exist and those who would use terrorism to further their "cause". Yet that is somehow viewed as "human rights abuses".

The double standard is absurd.

In general, I've found it is pointless to have a discussion with people who are incapable of viewing 2 sides to a story. They have chosen the narrative that suits their preconceived notions, and there is nothing that will sway them.

Generally, there are 4 things that people love to hate on ATS (in no particular order):

1) Israel
2) Christians
3) "Western" geopolitics and governments
4) Police

There's a difference between a hatred of Zionism, Israel and Jews in general.

I criticise Israel for its human rights violations and its illegal occupation of a people and their lands. I criticise Israel for its elitist mentality and its attempts at influencing the affairs of other countries. I criticise Israel for its attitude and continuing expansion into lands which do not belong to it.

In the end, it doesn't matter what Israel has done to me, personally. Their crimes against humanity affect us all, and the Palestinian people who are living under a military occupation need help in speaking up against Israeli crimes.

You seem to assume you know a lot about me , you know nothing about me . If you were a psychic you would soon be on the streets with a tin in your hand . And i doubt you would see that coming . I am not pro Israel . This post was about trying to get an idea of how many people have had something personally done to them by Israel . If that was the start of the hatred or dislike if you will . I doubt very much if i could change anyone's views , nor should i try to . However i find it ironic that not one person has said anything about Hamas lobbing rockets over the border into Israel , who started that is a chicken and egg thing depending on what source you want to believe . They are not firing those rockets for self defence , they cant hit crap . Maybe if they stopped who knows Israel might as well .
