It's also expecting quite a lot that she puts up with being bossed around. Be happy and grateful if someone loves you so much that she's willing to live with the immaturity/misogyny, it's not something to demand. The men who say women have unrealistic expectations often expect way too much themselves in terms of what the woman would have to put up with etc.

Some men think of themselves so high that they see it as a natural order that they get to be all kinds of things and that the woman should accept that- because he's just so awesome?

I hear your pain and sorrow. And if you really do live in St. Louis, Missouri, you are also living in a cauldron of dangerously manipulated events for someone else's benefit. This seems to happen a lot anymore. Radical psychology has introduced dubious manipulation techniques, from Aversion Therapy, to Anti-Self Esteem For The (Supposed) Betterment of All, and Bisexuality Is Ideal.

Since TV shows like "Friends" and the push for after school Team Sports in the last century, young people have been subtly taught that individualism is bad, and "cooperative, team effort" is best. But a society and culture lose too much over the course of time when individualism is viewed as a negative. When you think of the shining geniuses of the past - from science to politics to sports - it was the individuals battling against the skewed "status quo" who made the most (and best) difference-for-the-better.

You mentioned videogames, and how you always choose the female characters who can do everything and look better while doing it. This creates false expectations for both sexes. And when women inevitably falter in living up to this Perfect Female paradigm, they have a "circle of female friends" (which usually includes at least one closet lesbian or radical man-hating feminist) who convince her it's not her - it's him, the men in her life and the "male dominated society."

On the other hand, society (like all living, thinking creatures) strives to achieve balance, in ways both subtle and mis-understood. Why do you think Superhero movies are so popular today? It's a form of entertainment that speaks directly to confused young people - or to the confused and isolated people like yourself. These Superhero movies assure all of us - battered and hammered and criticized and blamed - that there is an innate goodness and worthiness in all of us. And that, even if never expressed, we could all "rise to the occasion" in a crises and do what is Right.

I feel bad for guys like you, who have so much to give and share, and are only surrounded by man-hating "circles of female friends." Get some hobbies you feel passionate about, and you may finally meet some ladies who aren't "haters". Bless you.

We're all human and shouldn't be judged for instinctual differences.

Men shouldn't be judged for finding young girls sexy or wanting to be providers/protectors. That's in their nature. They are designed to be aggressive and propagate at prime times. This is applicable to nearly all species.

Women shouldn't be judged for wanting a successful man with a plan. They're subconsciously thinking of their (potential) children. It's a form of natural selection. Hell, if they didn't behave this way then our civilization would be even dumber and lazier today.

The problem isn't women. It's our economy and society. It's becoming increasingly harder to become a successful man or have a good job and provide. Meanwhile, feminists are trying to make women believe they should be innately no different than a man, which is going against their nature, and turning them into vile bitc**s.

Women, don't listen to feminists. Be proud to be feminine but don't try to be masculine. That's going to cause you pain and it's retarded (just imagine if millions of men tried to be more feminine than women, like wearing heels, being afraid to get dirty, etc. - that's how ridiculous and unappealing you look to men).

And men, good luck trying to appeal to the female's natural instinct of wanting a provider and protector. That's FK hard to do in today's society, but don't get mad at women for that.

Lastly, men and women are not equal. If God, or evolution, wanted us equal then we'd be asexual like worms. We have differences that should be valued and cherished, not compared.

I'm very lucky to be happily married. However I do fall into this age group, and I've often said, if me and the wife were ever to be divorced, I wouldn't bother about pursuing another relationship. Not because of depression or anything but simply what's the point? I make a pretty good living, and without a wife to bother about, I could make and even better living. Do what you want, when you want, and as the article stated, their's always porn to satisfy those base desires.

This thread is still active? Wow. Browsing over the comments I missed from this morning and it seems there's quite a bit of contention around this whole debate.

Allow me to expand on my original thoughts, perhaps this will help ease some of the tensions here.

Men and Women are fundamentally different creatures. From biology to psychology, they (usually) act quite different from one another. This is not a result of society, but rather merely nature.

Knowing this, in today's age, we should still strive for equality across gender lines. Not special privileges for one gender over another but true, unfiltered equality. Women should be able to serve on the front lines of wars if they can qualify to serve there. Men should be able to be househusbands and take care of the children if he so chooses without stigma, granted that the woman is happy playing the breadwinner role.

Conversely, women should be responsible for child support if a husband wins custody of a child following a divorce. Family courts should most certainly shift more toward the center.

The (increasingly shrinking) pay gap should be closed, women should be encouraged to take more STEM roles as well. However, men in these roles should not be made to feel threatened if they wear a tacky shirt one day.

Feminism has done uncountable positive things for equality regarding women. However, like many groups a small radical element has become the loudest and most active. This paints the entire movement in a bad light. This is most evident here on the internet, where people tend to speak their minds with impunity, not regarding the possible consequences for their statements.

It's these radical elements and their loud voice that has caused some men (again, mostly men who spend a good deal of time on the internet) to shirk women, preferring solitude to dealing with women because of the misguided stigma caused by this small, very vocal arm of feminism when the truth is very few women vilify men as heavily as these men often believe.

Is feminism still necessary? Perhaps. There are still things that can be done to help close the equality gap, but I think "feminism" is a bad name to call what should be a movement toward gender equality.

Of course, your own personal thoughts may differ, but this is just my own little take on the phenomenon.

When you consider that divorce is initiated by women Something like 70 percent of the time, many times Becuase they are bored or cheat, and the courts are geared against men and especially fathers, and the result of divorce can be financial ruin and financial servitude in the form of child support and alimony not to mention losing ones home, who can blame guys for wising up? I advise all younger guys to wait until you are at least forty before considering marriage and then sign a prenup. A good analogy is skydiving; would you jump if there was a 70 percent chance your chute wouldn't open?

in the old days teaching was one of the few occupations that women were allowed to go into and I highly doubt if the kids back then boys or girls really got the chance to learn by doing!

really if the kids back then could sit in the classroom day after day practicing their penmenship and repeating the times tables over and over again I see no reason why they can't today within a very less strict environment!

the way i see it were in the middle of growing pains
women won equality but dont quite know what to do with it yet and find themselves wanting and demanding the best of both worlds
there are a significant portion of women out there who want to be respected and have authority but dont want to put in the legwork necessary to actually earn respect or authority they want to make decisions but be protected from the consequences of those decisions
they want to be provided for but not have to provide anything in turn

It's so hard to attain the right balance between men and women, I know some married people that have figured it out and have been married for decades. Many are failing however, I am going to quote a female ATS poster on what I think happened...

My observation is the most intelligent women in excellent relationships, have figured it out, let there men be men without emasculating them, oh they still have a strong influence on them, but they also know how far they can push and when they need to back off, even if they are right. In short they pick there battles. Conversely this only works when the guy isn't an idiot.

And yes women in some parts of North America are very picky, especially if they have great economic security.
They hold out for rich and handsome, because they can. The economic climate has not been good for men since the downturn. Many working men can barely afford to keep themselves never mind a women who may expect lots of material fringe benefits from any relationship.

One of the saddest joking around comments I heard from a guy in the last year who had been single for over 8 years since his wife left him, was, "I tried to get into relationships with numerous women but failed, maybe I will have to go gay to get any now." He was just joking, but his comments reflect what is developing in society.

This is the entire argument that is always in the forefront on so many threads. To some, Equality means SAMENESS. And a woman is only equal if her brain is wired for the neurology to fold back into itself and enrich the neocortex, like a man, instead of the whole brain wiring they have. Or only equal if they were allowed to participate in larger number in public works or construction jobs (and some do), irregardless that their bodies are designed to be less physically strong as a mans.

Equality has nothing to do with equality of form. In order to seek an equal mate physically, men would have to be gay.

The sex's are made different, physically and have a different brain wiring. And yet, men make good cooks and some women are fine working as a plumber or in construction, but most people (if able to have choices) graviate more towards what they're good at.

The highway man needs to eat, and his wife needs the hospitals for childbirth. They're work of equal value.

The scientist returns to a home built by construction workers, and food prepared by the food industry, driving on roads constructed by other teams. And his children were either cared for by his wife, or a combination of his wife and child care workers, again, mostly women.

Work of Equal Value does not mean SAMENESS!

Furthermore that brain wiring and child rearing capacity (whether or not the woman has a child or not) also makes a difference in army personal. I would never even wish to become a warrior, because to me that is so absolutely vile and primitive. And I won't because my brain wiring gives me the verbal push and ability to fine tune what I would say and to speak up and say NO very well and mean it, because I deeply connect to my children and everyone else's children, including Russia's children, China's children, the Middle East's children and won't stand for anyone harming them. Men who think women are just like them, lack the empathy for others many men have in order to actually beat the crap out of or harm in wars, and compartmentalize emotions (whole brain wiring is not about that), and just made a little weaker with boobs, are sadly mistaken.

Women are the wayshowers. They are here to cool your jets spirituality, ie introduce calm and love and out of red outs and anger, for earth is all a test. Men are also hero's and often good at design and problem solving. Both halves in ideal form are needed. But both are more than halves when they start to wake up, yet each struggle towards wholeness doesn't turn out the same mix in each individual.

As for extremist, Elite Driven Slant of Feminism, and the way the system creates petty laws to drive a stake between the sexes, yup. But thats not women's deal.

Speaking of equality and equal rights I wonder in the future if clones will allow for a loophole when it comes to that. Both for female companionship and workers and perhaps even engineered to be well suited to the desired tasks. Robots are another possibility sci-fi has explored but they can't give you a child.

I hear the Japanese are seriously looking into this regardless. Necessity breeds innovation after all. People will call me a monster for even bringing it up and I agree it would be monstrous but just wait until those Kate Upton clones or drones start hitting the market, it will be interesting to see how our moral fortitude holds up then.

Sorry for going a bit off topic but I don't think this is beyond the realm of possibility especially robots considering developments already taking place. The availability of internet porn distracting men from real women might just be the beginning of our problems due to technology.

I'm not sure I even want to think where the implications of clone or AI tech could leed if violence as well as sex is one of mans base desires to be satisfied. The men in the article are satisfying these desires with videogames and porn currently. It may not be a good idea to even consider were this could leed with more advanced technology if proper laws aren't formed to govern the use of that technology.
