People are trying but fighting the entrenched control of media, government, military, police, and government is not easy. The voices of reason are regularly silenced and marginalized. Naomi Wolf is a great example of this.

we need an education system.
college is too expensive. there has to be a way to offset the cost. every culture needs an educated population. we just need to figure out how to get that done without signing off our lives to debt.

Kids nowadays better wake up and realize the economy most us enjoyed is over unfortunately.

This sentence, I knew I'd be seeing this sentence in the OP before I even clicked the link to open the page.

Young people nowadays realise there is LITTLE hope for them economically, and they won't enjoy a fruitful economy LIKE YOU DID.
Because post-war everyone drove the economy into the ground! No-one set up steps to make sure the economic fruit will last. They settled into post-war peace, and the offspring of the baby boomers soaked up the spoils, like little brats and have the AUDACITY to blame the youth of today for being less than hopeful of having a good life like their parents did..

We, as young people, are looking at working well past our 60's. House prices are sickeningly high, how LUCKY for you that you were able to buy a house for 30% of the price houses are now. We pay through the utter eye for a decent education, hoping that we might be able to get some kind of job which will afford us a comfortable life.

"Kids" as you put it, are damned if they do, and damned if they don't, seems to me.

If we want a chance of having a good job, we try to make it happen.
But no, it's a waste of money, because school is expensive, because the job market is so unstable, because because because.
If we don't go to school, we're lazy, useless, spongers, living off parents, not using our full potential to get a decent job etc.

Yeah, kids these days are a real problem...

But now they are changing the rhetoric to stop going to school! Hahaha

First were stupid for not going to school now we're stupid for going to school.

Bunch of idiots we have in this world today. Why can't any of you just admit that non of us have the answers and maybe we should work together to figure some out I stead of a bunch of bull# bickering.

Education should made free, after all you are born into the world and then you are taught even if you are poor they should really make the education system freer.

Education can't be free, nothing is free. Who do you propose pays for it and where does that money come from? As much as it pains me to say so, there needs to be regulation in education to control the costs. I went to a community college for my degree and it cost me about $5k and now I work as a robotics tech for a fortune 500 company. If I had went to some major university I would still be in debt and paying for it.

Why don't you tell that to Brazil, Sri Lanka, Lybia, Argentina, Barbados, Denmark, Egypt, Germany, Finland, Greece, India, Italy, Ireland, Nepal, Norway, Moroco, Turkey, UAE, Spain, or Venezuala....

All provide free education, most through the university level.

I'm 35 years old kid!!!!! I haven't enjoyed anything!!! In fact my generation in knee deep in this crap! I'm reaching the peak of my adult working life in this disaster of an economy. Hell I WISH I was a 20 something year old. The 35-50 year olds right now are screwed worse than anyone. We will be right in the middle of this crash where as someone younger will have time and youth to pick themselves up and dust themselves off !!!!

Your logic is terrible..... Food is more important than education.... Should we make that free as well? Hell why don't we just make everything "free". There is no such thing as free. There are things such as a manufacturing based economy with good paying jobs, no interest loans, govt subsidies and grants, scholarships, working internships, on the job training, etc. but free?

No doubt. I suspect a large part of our "reality" is a scam, not only college. But I'm with you on the arrogant and pompous part. I work in IT as a network administrator and never went to college. The sheer entitlement and arrogance of people coming out of college blows me away. And they know, little to nothing. Worse yet they are hard to teach because they think they know something. Then, there is the attitude because they don't want to let go of the fact that they are usually very lacking because they went to college.

I started back in the early 80's learning computers. Learned to do 3D rendering (albeit slowly) on my own and wrote some assembly. Most of my time is spent on the server and network side these days though. The thing that gets me about the college crowd is they did it as a job with cash payout in mind and not as a passion. They ground the hours and said "gimme, I want. I'm entitled".

Know what my favorite thing about college students is?

They all hold themselves to such a high level, so intelligent, learned, approved knowledge to make themselves feel proud.

And they were too dumb to realize college is a scam. Enslaved by debt just to learn the few courses you needed while having to crawl through 50 courses you don't need.

It's a total scam. They become pompous, arrogant, thinking since they know each number and each state-approved fact that they're intellectual Olympians.

Notice how many are graduating into a country with no jobs? Or if they land a job it's at McDonalds, Staples or Family Dollar? Moving back in with their parents?

Don't let the few who landed jobs straight after graduation fool you, it's a total scam. Expensive babysitting with a social political flair. Be careful sending your children to college. It's indoctrination.

I have never liked the idea of College.
I would have to pay, to listen to some professor go off on tirades on this or that, only to be 4 years older, with a piece of paper that really doesn't guarantee a job.

No thanks.

Certifications, self study, online courses and tech school is a better choice for most.

Plus the thought now of being around college kids whining about social justice and how life isn't fair, tweeted across the internet via social media???? I would rather donate my left nut to an orphanage.

Really?

In Sri Lanka, Lybia, Argentina, Barbados, Denmark, Egypt, Germany, Finland, Greece, India, Italy, Ireland, Nepal, Norway, Moroco, Turkey, UAE, Spain, and Venezuala all of these countries have Free Education and the children seem to be doing just fine at least some of these countries.

But according to your logic capitalist logic it seems that our children should pay for there education in other western countries even if that means and is meant by selling there own bodies or there children for money just to pay for the educational expanses.

here are things such as a manufacturing based economy with good paying jobs, no interest loans, govt subsidies and grants, scholarships, working internships, on the job training, etc.

Ah yes grants and scholarships only half of the population are guaranteed for both grants and scholarships.

no interest loans

You actual believe that nonsense?

When i was in Italy i was very fortunate to be in a education where you didn't had pay for it since including if you were a war refugee.

Aren't the economies of those very same Nations you list having problems and are wanting to cut back on many, not just educational, programs? Umm...yes, they are. They are even having protests and riots because they are cutting back.

It's not sustainable without a decent tax-base.

I didn't even have to go to school to realize that...it's common sense.

Education Free, this is impossible some one has to pay, for the buildings, the staff, the utilities, if the government subsidies this it comes from tax payers NOT FREE, SOMEONE ALWAYS PAYS.

The German University, system is federally funded, the german tax payers pay for this ITS NOT FREE.

Its free by American standards.

Germans have a top tax rate of 45% for the top earners over $378428.37 at todays exchange rates.
I wonder who is paying for the education.

It sounds like the ones who profit the most from using the skills learned in that education.

Alright... I have always detested going to college because of what I saw in people when they did go to college.

They became robots who forever stayed the same. Never really being able to adapt to new ways of thinking and or learning. A lot of times I would see people struggling with something that I find to be basic knowledge. Yet for them it is a complex puzzle. I don't know the real issue behind some of these so called intellects but each time I would solve a problem that suddenly arose with scholars.... I questioned their schooling.

For the longest time I believed that people with that fancy piece of paper were taught wrong, and have no skills. And for most it proved to be true. They went back to school for another four years and would talk to me about it. Yet they still struggled on some of the most basic problems you run into at a workplace. And some of them want to run the company someday yet they can't solve a problem.

This has been what kept me from college. And I know several hundreds of people who graduated and still can't find work at a burger restaurant. They have mba s in at least two fields, but their job doesn't even associate itself with that field. So they end up not wanting the job in their field anymore and over time forget what they learned. Then they turn it into hatred.

But now I want to go to college. Only for one reason.... I seem to have knack for being a detective. I don't watch tv shows like criminal minds or anything like it. I find myself more attuned to shows like missing. And even reading up on cold cases. Like the torso murders, david parker ray, ted bundy, and several other cases. While doing so i come up with my own conclusions on their actions, or characteristics of the murders. To help me understand better what makes them function in such a way. I have noticed this since I was small. I have been around bad and good crowds. I can get information out of people with ease. I can make you feel comfortable no matter what your view is.

So I want to further my own personal hobby further. There is not a single negative message missing from this thread that I haven't said myself..... but my problem is? I want to prove them wrong. Not the people in this thread, but the very teachers sitting up in that pedastle. That what they are teaching is ruining society little by little.

mmm..... it's not fair!
Where to start??
I graduated in 1977. When it was time to take the college entrance exams in college I went home and told my mom I wanted to take it and asked for the money. (she wouldn't let me get a job using the excuse that learning was more important) she told me that I didn't need to go to school I would marry a rich man who would take care of her and me. I shook my head and shrugged my shoulders and didn't take the test as she began her attempts of getting me hitched to this "rich man" which didn't work out well for her. I would have had all my school paid for if I had gone straight from school but I waited a few years working as a library aide for the school system.
Ended up in texas and decided to go into data processing in 1980. Got my assoicate's degree in 82 with the help of student aide and decided that I would rather earn the money and pay for the college myself. After applying for jobs about half a year well my husband along with a few others told me why I wasn't being hired. It was the time of reagan's tent cities and it seems like the whole nation was trying to get rid of their unemployed by sending them to texas because there was lots of jobs in tx! Well texas was rather conservative back then and as long as there was a man applying for the job- any man regardless- they weren't gonna hire the women. The men had families to take care care of and the women had a man to take care of them or she should have!!
Ya that was real fair now wasn't it??
Come to think of it- there was alot of unfairness!
I bet some of yas who are griping about the boomers having everything handed to us on a silver platter were helped through your childlhood through food stamps hud payments medicaid ect.
Think it was fair for the gov't to take money from my family so you could have these things?
while kids much like you would constantly tease my kids because "they were so poor that so and so's mom had to give so and so's hand me downs for them to wear?
think it was fair for those kids to have their medicine provided for them by the taxpayers (my family) while my kids were being kept home till payday for theirs?
think it was fair those kids had brand new clothes at the start of the school y ear when one of mine finally quit school because I couldn't come up with a losey $30 to by him a few pair of pants that fit him from the good will??

Welcome to adulthood! Welcome to the real world! Where nothing is fair things are always changing and of course those who have will get more while those who don't have will lose what little they have so the haves can have more!

Quit blaming the boomers! We didn't have everything handed to us. It's just as much as an insane idea as the idea that at one time all the mommies stayed home tending to kids and home while the daddies went to work. Only in the more well to do families.

IF you see the boomers staying in the workforce and not making room for you blame it on the banks, the gov't and the danged fed with their 0 interest rates! If they aren't retiring it's because their savings were wiped out by the bankers and walll street con artists with the help of the fine gov't! And guess who the gov't is counting on providing them with their basic necessities in their old age if not social security? their kids of course- YOU!!!

I agree with much of what you said. I too, continue to go to school, but it's mainly for social and hobby reasons. I don't want to be a lawyer or doctor, but I want to weld. Community College opens plenty of doors for people and is affordable as well.

High School drop out, no degree, but a crapload of certifications and retired at 48. Also no credit cards and pay cash as I go.

If I can do it, so can every one else.
