Look, I understand your sentiment, but can you please express yourself without the hateful and personal attacks? There is lots of room for every opinion there is no excuse for any of us to get nasty. It just tends to ruin the discussion.

The Commonwealth and America have more shared values than animosity so I am sure we can be decent to each other.

While I take nothing away from the brave men of the past who's hands might have had to be "cold" out in the field, I highly doubt in any scenario with Russia "occupation" is going to be the name of the game until at the least things like artillery are out of the way... The entire basis of military superiority against Russia is our technology, technology that most often and from the start these days falls in the hands of a guy with a joy stick i his hands hundreds of miles away. Aside from that it is the IQ that builds these toys these days. Disrespect for Russian equipment? No... but a lot of guys fighting this battle might never see it that's all it will be rubble long before.

My friend, call it what you will, it doesn't change the fact that Russian gear is war proof, while American greatest and bestest tech is nothing more then budget feed.

Its this simple, when weather gets wet and cold, troop armed with AR platform begins to have serious issues with operating weapon controls, and no amount of wonder tech which is supposed to turn enemies into rubble is going to help that troop when some fella with an AK jumps out and begins unloading into him.

Same goes for everything else. Soviet armor simply works, while American armor does not. How? Simple. Soviet armor gets where it has to get, while Chrysler Abrams requires an entire motor park just to keep it running, and an escort of fuel trucks to keep it fueled.

Syria is the latest example of how effective classic Soviet armor is even in urban warfare when deployed properly. It just works. BMPs get shot up with RPGs and keep on going. Complete reliability and weapon effectiveness.

As for guys with joysticks, as soon as operations extend beyond the village people in sandals, ECM simply jams the crap out the entire spectrum including GPS and drones, and it again comes right back to fellas with AKs.

Try OFP on good European servers btw, it'll change your FPS views for ever.

a reply to: crazyewok Russia, France, Brittan, USA were all playing on the same team for the most part in WW2. Russia even received aid from the USA in WW2. They were all fighting a common enemy. Russia wasn't fighting alone against Germany.

There is a huge difference of opinion about The British by people of Scottish descent. Depending if those of Scottish descent are from a Protestant or Catholic background. You can work it out for yourself those that hate the British ( or should i say the hatred is mainly aimed at The English).

The good news is that Russia and America aren't anywhere near a shooting war with each other and wont be anytime soon.

The Abrams is a better tank than a T72/90 on the first day of fighting. But depending what theatre you are in, the number of tanks deployed and how short their supply line is the critical point. Several weeks into a shooting war in torn up terrain and the M1A3 numbers of available tanks will be dropping everyday. The Abrams will be it's most effective on the first day and diminish from there, while the number T72+'s lost to maintenance in the long run will be much less.

The number of tanks deployed in the first days of fighting would be the deciding factor.

The good thing is that America or NATO aren't going to pick a fight in Europe any time soon. And Russia has no way to deliver any main battle tanks to North America without getting noticed.

Thankfully the discussion will remain a theoretical one. No matter WHAT happens in Ukraine.

Essentially, what I'm getting at here is, even if your single vote really did count, in the hundreds of millions of possible voters out there, any one of the members of he EC in any particular state DOES NOT have to vote for the majority vote. So if in lets say, Texas, who has 38 electoral votes, has everyone in the state vote for the Democrat (obviously very unlikely) any or all of the members of the EC in Texas can vote for the Republican.

So that's one very easy way they could rig the elections. Big corporations just pay off the members of the EC. I, however, think it goes deeper than that, beings we always seem to get the same idiots spring up every 4 years. We should have 10 or more to chose from, but instead, it's the two "THEY" selected.

Not our problem that yours for voting in the wrong people.

Canadian, BTW, tons of Canadians of Scottish ancestry here. Place names in the West are all Scottish or Native. Lots of understanding for English, Irish, Welsh, American etc. Even the French...our French. We are all ultimately family.

if you consider the United States a superpower then there is only one superpower. If you consider Russia a superpower then there is a few super powers but the United States would not be in that category. The United States is on a totally different level there is no rival for the United States they're the most powerful country in the world and nobody not one country comes even close to the power of the United States.

If we are talking a conventional warfare, yes we are superior in just about every aspect. Aircraft, carriers, ships, troop experience, and future tech

But, if we are holding territory like in Iraq and Afghanistan it becomes a much more difficult type of war.

The U.S. forces would destroy every piece of Russian infrastructure within the first couple months of a war, not easily of course and not without causalities on both sides

and if we're talking about a 100% effort from the U.S.A. believe me, no country on earth can handle that type of military, not even China. not to mention we have 10+ year battle hardened veterans.

We've got the biggest Airforce, the biggest Navy, the biggest Army and Marines. We've got a whole host of SOF, including 1st SFOD-D (Delta Force), DEVGRU (SEAL Team 6), ISA (The Activity), SAD (CIA Special Activities Division), SOG (CIA Special Operations Group), and those are just the Tier 1 units we have.

I mean, how in the hell do you expect to beat us in a conventional war? They even have the new Gerald Ford class carriers coming out now (of which we will have 11 of, and are friggin' huge).

BTW, all that stuff I just mentioned, is just all the stuff they let you know about. With a budget that big, we gotta have some other way cool stuff.
