The Lion of Ukraine seems to be not much more than another snake in the grass seeking power. Volodomyr Zelenskyy is a dictator and intends to rule Ukraine as an unopposed war lord.

War? Lord? He didn't start the war. He's doing what it takes to preserve his country. When you are in a War, anyone opposed to you is against you - an enemy of the State. They're called Traitors at that point.

I don't blame him one bit.

Shutting them down should have happened at the beginning of the invasion. That he didn't tells me it's not a Power Grab. Or one that's about 5 months late.

The political group in questioned was formed back in the late 90's and were very much pro-Russian. The group also blamed Zelinskyy for all the issues they currently have.

I understand there is a difference between parties in my country and they are referred to as the loyal opposition (US). I would think it is not just an American thing but this party's is opposition, and they are not loyal.

They were suspended, along with a number of other parties, on March 20th. They were then officially dissolved in Parliament on April 14th. Many of the more level-headed deputies have since gone on to form new parties and have made it clear that people like Medvedchuk and Kyva will not be involved.

If you don't see why they've done this your eyes are closed

The second largest faction in the Rada and the largest opposition faction, Opposition Platform–For Life (OPFL), a surviving splinter of the Party of Regions, has forty-four seats. Yuriy Boiko, a close associate of ex-president Viktor Yanukovych, is the party's nominal chairman. However, the real leadership of the faction is shared with Viktor Medvedchuk. Medvedchuk, who was the head of the presidential administration under Leonid Kuchma, today is the owner of growing media holdings and a public friend of Russian president Vladimir Putin. Despite the negative view of Russian aggression in Ukraine’s East and the annexation of Crimea, a considerable number of Ukrainian voters support the OPFL.

Ukrainian politician accused of helping Russian units into cities as invasion began
Ukraine's State Security Service (SBU) says it has uncovered a Russian spy network involving Ukrainian politician Andriy Derkach.

Derkach - who was previously accused by the US of being a Russian agent - allegedly set up a network of private security firms.

It is claimed they were used to ease and support the entry of Kremlin forces into cities during the invasion of 24 February, the SBU says.

The agency thinks Derkach received sums of $3-4 million every few months in order to fulfil the plan.

Derkach could not immediately be reached for comment. He has previously denied wrongdoing and said he has been targeted for exposing corruption.

This is wrong on so many levels.

Banning political parties that are pro the nation that you are at war with and has invaded your country, ok. I can see that and make sense of it. It happens all around the world during times of war and conflict.

Stealing the assets of those people/parties is nothing more than legalized thuggery. Because a court says its OK doesn't make it right. Something that is Just does not always mean that it is right. Freezing those assets is one thing, having them confiscated and rolled into state coffers is a whole other thing.

This is the kinda of actions that can turn popular opinion against Ukraine in some countries and right now they can't afford that. They continue to be able to defend their country because of the good will of other countries.

Where did this "governor" rule?

From your Wikipedia link:
"a Ukrainian pro-Russian activist who proclaimed himself the "People's Governor" of the Donetsk Region at the Regional Assembly on 3 March 2014, after separatists seized the building. Gubarev had earlier declared himself leader of the Donbas People's Militia.
.............................
In 2022, Gubarev signed a short-term contract with the Russian Armed Forces, as a private, in order to participate in the Russian invasion of Ukraine."

Heads of the Donetsk People's Republic:
1) Alexander Zakharchenko - 4 November 2014 - 31 August 2018 †
2) Dmitry Trapeznikov - 31 August 2018 - 7 September 2018
3) Denis Pushilin - 7 September 2018 - 20 November 2018, and 20 November 2018 - Incumbent

You missed out this part.

The Donbas People's Militia was formed in March 2014 by Pavel Gubarev

en.wikipedia.org...

And

insurgents in Sloviansk and Kramatorsk identified themselves as members of Pavel Gubarev's Donbas People's Militia.

en.wikipedia.org...

Nazi's led by a known Nazi, Pavel Gubarev.

Yes, I missed it. But from your own link it is clear that the group organized by him was only part of the Donbas rebels.

"According to a spokesman for the Donetsk People's Republic, the militants that occupied Sloviansk were "an independent group...supporting the Donetsk protest",[5] while insurgents in Sloviansk and Kramatorsk identified themselves as members of Pavel Gubarev's Donbas People's Militia."

The photo you gave comes from the 1990s, when Russian neo-Nazis really felt relatively at ease in Russia.

So the point i was actually making, is that it blows Putin's claim out the water that his " special operation " was to free Ukraine from Nazi's.

Complete bollocks, as his bedfellows are Nazi's themselves. Can you now finally agree with that ?

I agree 😁. Just a power and resources grab by Herr Führer the 2nd. At least the original had the balls to admit it 👍

No, I cannot agree with you.

Firstly, this is only one person and this is not a sufficient basis for conclusions.

Secondly, even this person was in a neo-Nazi organization only in his youth, when many people make mistakes - they use drugs, they get into bad companies.

Now Gubarev is not a member of any neo-Nazi party.

Now there is not a single neo-Nazi party in the Russian parliament.

Now there is no neo-Nazi party in Russia that dared to hold any public actions.

At the same time, people crawled out of the basements of Azovstal, all covered with tattoos with Hitler, with quotes from Hitler and with various Nazi signs.

Gubarev is the founder and Leader of " New Russia Party " formed in 2014.
At it's first congress some well know facists where in atendance and gave it their support. So please don't try and convince me that Gubarev is no longer a Nazi.

Funny how the New Russia Party Flag is very similar to The Confederate War Flag.

The first congress was attended by pro-Russian separatist officials of the Donetsk People's Republic, Donbas Militia. Notable figures were involved, including: Donetsk People's Republic leader Pavel Gubarev (former member of the Neo-Nazi Russian National Unity and Progressive Socialist Party of Ukraine), writer Alexander Prokhanov, fascist political scientist and Eurasia Party leader Aleksandr Dugin, and Valery Korovin.

Now there is not a single neo-Nazi party in the Russian parliament.

New Russia Party are not members of The Russian Parliament.

What points in the program of the New Russia Party do you consider fascist?

Factions:
1) Faction of the All-Russian Political Party ”UNITED RUSSIA“
2) Faction of the Political Party ”Communist Party of the Russian Federation“
3) Faction of the Political Party "A Just Russia — Patriots — For Truth"
4) Faction of the Political Party ”Liberal-Democratic Party of Russia“
5) Faction of the Political Party ”NEW PEOPLE“
duma.gov.ru...

Of course, there are no representatives of this party in the Russian parliament.

Did you actually look at the ideology of New Russia Party ?

Let me help you.

Eurasianism.

This ideology was influenced by political theorist Aleksandr Dugin to publish in 1997 a magnum opus by the name of Foundations of Geopolitics. He later founded the Eurasia Party on the Russian political scene.[12]

en.wikipedia.org...

Dugin is both a dangerous man and a facist.

Aleksandr Gelyevich Dugin (Russian: Александр Гельевич Дугин; born 7 January 1962) is a Russian political philosopher,[5] analyst, and strategist known for views widely characterized as fascist.

en.wikipedia.org...

So we have New Russia Party founder and leader Pavel Gubarev who's aligned with this shower.

Free Donbas.

en.wikipedia.org...

Who have 26 seats in this phony set up.

People's Council of the Donetsk People's Republic.

en.wikipedia.org...

There is no hiding the Nazi connections in The Donbas.

You have a bit of a cart before the horse thing happening.

Back in Feb of 2021 Ukraine blocked the tv stations of the opposition party. shortly thereafter they seized the assets of viktor medvedchuk, the opposition party leader, including a pipeline that transported oil from Russia to Europe. Within 24 hours of that event Russia started massing troops on the Ukraine border. Russia waited a full year before actually invading.

The bigger problem is that the US embassy was urging Ukraine on in its actions against the opposition party. Ukraine acted with the belief that if Russia retaliated the US would have their back. When Russia retaliated biden stood aside and let Ukraine take it full in the face. He waited another three months before doing anything and somehow managed to pat himself on the back for acting so quickly...15 months...yeah, thats fast...
