Saudi state sponsored change of what it means to be a Sunni Muslim used by Saudi Arabia for control in the region.

en.wikipedia.org...

en.wikipedia.org...

Think of it like United States changed the christian faith to follow Westboro Baptist Church alone and all other views where forbidden to be practised. In a way there is similarities between Nazi Germany racism and Saudi Arabian Arabic attacks on the Persian Shias and Christians.

Could we stay on topic? It'd be downright embarrassing to see another Mod have to come in and do a clean up.

Thanks!

Frankly Wrab, they have not? I for one wish they would, I was disappointed in the rationale of your OP, it is never something to smile about. You can't even rationale the making of video except for the propaganda, that's been done before with people setting themselves alight in protest. What intellectual forces there are at work I have no idea, as I have no rush to 'heaven' or the 'other' place as I love this beautiful Earth. That fellow creatures destroy themselves as a matter of faith is also beyond me, and again nothing to smile about, so to me it's no different than fighting over a piece of dirt.

Well, I'll tell you Smurfy, your opinion matters to me and I'm sorry we disagree on this one as strongly as we do for the reactions, if not the outcome.

My reaction of black humor here (I don't actually get a true humor induced laugh from death of any form) is strictly because we are dealing with militants. Combatants. Terrorists by definition of their tactics. They paid their money, so to speak, and they took their chances. It came up short for them and they lost.

Among some combatants (of both sides) I would call that a shame or a loss, depending on circumstances. For terrorist scum that were building a car bomb for use in a populated area, as they all seem to get used in Iraq? I'm only sorry some survived it at all, and hope that situation gets it's own karma sorted out eventually.

I rarely allow the full depth and darkness of the hate I have toward the terrorists show..and there are many reasons I feel that way. Most of which, are reasons I carry with me and are mine to live with. The feeling is genuine though, and that's why I took a moment to elaborate a bit here. I wouldn't want anyone getting the impression I see actual comedy in death....but it IS fair to say, some earn their fate.

We had a Palestinian representative come speak in my Classical Islamic history class. From what I gathered, these suicide bombers would rather not blow themselves up. These are desperate people, and the fact they are willing to blow themselves up for their cause should speak volumes to how desperate they feel they are.

When all you have are rocks, you throw as many rocks as you can. When all you have is some crude explosive, you find the most horrific/effective way to use it.

Blowing innocent people up would have to be a last resort in my mind, by a person who's back is perceived to be against a wall. A lot of my friends never stop to ponder why these terrorists are terrorists. I usually get the, "they hate our freedom" reply. Who hates being free?

I think a lot of it has to do with the stranglehold the religious leaders have over their own people. Being a religious dictator may enable to you keep your iron grip, but it requires radical brainwashing to accomplish. Many of these people have never known a world without automatic gunfire or someone they know and love killed before age 20. To me, that is just sad.

I'll say something here that might just shock a few... Palestinians, and particularly West Bank PLA, I feel differently about from the terrorists in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and elsewhere. In those other nations, they are on the offense, not defense and it's THEY who choose to continue a fight they have the full power to stop, any time they choose. Palestinians do not have that option. (some would argue that..but life as it stands for status quo in the West Bank isn't tolerable for long term anything, to my thinking). My biggest beef with the Palestinians has always been the targeting of civilians to the literal exclusion of military. That isn't understandable or forgivable ..but I can at least understand why they fight. When you think you have nothing left to lose, choices become much easier, I'm sure.

The terrorist army in Iraq and Syria is no Palestinian struggle with poor tactics. It's a full offensive war (and those are just two campaigns of it), waged against the populations and governments equally with little distinction shown between them. They could and should show 100% distinction ..but don't and never really have, to be straight. Terrorist tactics are valid enough for effectiveness...they're just evil in my view. They have accomplished enough over the last few decades though and it's what those ones choose over other options.

There is no such award, well there is, but the only one I know of that could actually receive it on behalf of the rest is a chicken.

Darwin Awards

Actually, it is a real thing that's been around a lot of years. It requires self induced death from something particularly stupid which didn't kill or injure innocent bystanders as I recall the general terms to submit.

(I listened to a couple of their audio books when I was trucking.....)

ugh...those poor kids' families. Just imagine the heartache they must be feeling, despite any political justifications.
It is just twisted and sad.

UnBreakable
This will require a lot of virgins. Supposedly each jihadist gets 72 virgins when they die. They might have to start recruiting from Catholic girl's high schools.

LOL. Actually i remember a family guy episode that mentions this a few times. The Funniest was 72 angry VIRGINIANS. the bomber gets to heaven and he ask where are my 72 virgins? and Washington said its 72 ANGRY VIRGINIANS and proceeds to beat the death out of him.

Virgins? Goats?
That's too Anti-Semitic to be honest. Also grave idiocy!
No authenticated Hadith nor any verse of the Quran says anything about virgins from suicide.
Paradise is lost/forbidden to those who commit suicide in Islamic tradition... and nothing more.

Stop watching Fox News you gargantuan, brain cell deficient, imbecilic parrots!!!

Also there is no such thing as karma.

Peace.

Any one else just a bit curious how this intel got out to the msm-bag? Layman's terms: unkown entities paying for these endevours, let the cat out of the bag per se, as this was some funny #, and to ridiculous that some one had to know? Again Laymans: we the U.S citizen doesn't hear about "fast and furious" till months later, but soak in this information in the middle of "F: nowhere just hours later

Just saying

The only thing that's laughable about this is The BBC source links the Sunni-Arabs with Al-Qaeda!

Completely ignoring the fact that Anti-Qaeda militia were among the dead!!!
The same Anti-Qaeda Sunni-Arabs who helped US Forces fight off Al-Qaeda throughout the invasion of Iraq!!!

But then ignorance is bliss... and The BBC & NewsCorp are ignorant...
...that must equal bliss???

Peace.

I hear what you're saying and I used to wonder and try to really understand that. I really try and look at things from the perspective of others, even when those positions can be extreme. That one? I can't fathom.

As you note, if it's for a specific cause and purpose at that moment? Yeah...maybe. One thing I recall hearing a Navy SEAL say after 9/11 was that their side weren't alone in having people willing to die for their beliefs, and that's true enough I'd say. Dying well and throwing one's life away are two radically different things tho..and that is where I lose any ability to see their side.

Committing suicide to murder others, when that will change nothing but adding a story to a newspaper back page and perhaps, a note in history books for events on a given day ...just seems like the ultimate waste. Yet, they're doing it on a regular basis. I guess it's one of many aspects we may never understand about those we fight and who fight us. Perhaps another reason to break off when possible and not return to this fight. We can't win what we can't even understand the other sides motivations to.

well i guess im a bit different i figure the fight needs to be won. You cant allow people who are willing to kill women and children to continue without a fight. Its a fight for i guess humanity when you think about it. See to often we turn our backs and allow evil people to control the way we think or live i personally think it needs to end. Think how much weve changed from 12 guys and a plane were willing to except things now that would never have been tolerated in the name of safety. The key is take off the gloves i spent two years in Afghanistan and ill say if they let us we could have had it over in a couple of months. But you cant do that with rules of engagement telling us we have to call in before even returning fire. Ive seen entire towns wiped out by the Taliban because they found the kids had candy we gave them from our MREs. To us no big deal to them you would have thought it was Christmas. The bad part instead of eating them all at ounce they would save them for weeks eating small bites. This meant they were obviously working with the Americans right?

Who do you plan to fight? How do you plan to win? You can't fight what you can't see or find until it wants to engage you. You can't fight what isn't even physical in the ultimate bottom line. We're fighting an idea at this stage as much as anything. It didn't start that way and it shouldn't have gone that way ..but it has. It's Vietnam ALL over again and now, it's really matched that in more ways than is funny to talk about.

How do you defeat the Taliban? They're based in a nation we can't fight and can't interdict. Like Vietnam. They hide among and within civilians too scared to give them up ..and why should they? They're dead if they do and US troops damn sure won't defend them. We're leaving and they know it. No one in their right mind will risk a thing for us now...when they'll be there to face the music when we're back home trying to forget it.

I think we had our chance to win this thing in November of 2001. CIA and Green Berets lead a force of Northern Alliance fighters right up Bin Ladens tail pipe and they HAD his sorry butt cold. All they asked Washington for was a blocking force to be dropped on the Paki- border so the pursuit wouldn't see the bastard just cross lines and vanish (which is what happened). CIA got told 'thanks...no thanks...stand down and let the Marines take over'. Well.. they did. Bin laden laughed his way into safety and the first waves of US Marines came into the Kandahar region. A real war was set and it NEVER HAD TO HAPPEN.

We can't win...what our leaders never intended to BE won. It's far past time, I believe, that ALL our people get out of there. That includes the US people at the Baghdad Embassy (If they want to call that City within a City an Embassy.)

Hopefully the final evacuations, when they come from Baghdad and Kabul...aren't choppering people off rooftops again. That made for horrible P.R. the first time and I was just a toddler then. I'd hate to have to live the sequel of shame.

I think it's wrong to gloat in the deaths of others, or to take joy in misery.

In this case, I make a massive exception.
