Supersonic flight is a requirement for us to fulfill our contract with the United States government to provide important products for the defense of our country. The location and time of those infrequent supersonic flights are directed and approved by government authorities, and Boeing is compliant with this direction. If there is damage to property as a result of these flights, we ask that residents contact Boeing representative Pat Frost at 314-234-6996.

You have a good attitude Antar. Some people here have taken into looking into properly investigating the incident, while others have already begun to offer ways to explain it away. Perhaps something conclusive will shed light on the situation in the coming days. I suspect it will be difficult to find witnessed given that you live in a rural area, and the chances of corroboration are slim. If you spend time around towns who are accustomed to air force activity, you will notice how few are the people who look up. Terre Haute comes to mind. It can be quite maddening to try and convince others that what you have experienced is real. Even if you had the pictures to back it up, you would still have the nay sayers. I was foolish enough to post classified documents to back up my credentials when posting on more conventional scientific concerns and people still blew me off, made jokes, and questioned my sanity. It takes courage to come out and say you saw what looked like a flying saucer being hunted down by jets. Opinion really is not relevant. In truth, mankind will always be dragged into the future kicking and screaming, but it is those who look up who make life interesting.

Missouri is home to a number of different interesting places. You have Whiteman which is home to, among other aircraft, the B-2 fleet. You also have Boeing Fighter which makes the F-18 and F-15, and most interesting of all, Boeing Phantom Works.
It almost certainly not from Whiteman. They have the B-2, T-38, and A-10. There are other units around though, that fly F-15s.
As for practice, training goes on all the time as long as they have money in the budget.

Ya. I heard about those billion dollar runways. Seems that the airlines that did fly out of MidAmerica were short lived in the commercial business. Perhaps someone wants to keep those runways for themselves.

Didn't Mid America apply for a spaceport license when they were building it? That's what I seem to recall. It stood out in my mind because I didn't know we had a need for spaceports at that time.

we've been over this 1000 times. the location the OP claims to live at is not a populated area and is surrounded by 4 state parks. It is pretty much wilderness. The military is free to break the sound barrier in such areas (regardless of altitude) at their leisure.edit on 4-2-2014 by DeadSeraph because: (no reason given)

I, for one, would like to discount the "just a training exercise" excuse.
Sonic booms were outlawed in the U.S. over populated areas for "training exercises" a LONG time ago.

Ok well, if you took the time to notice, the post I replied to was on page 17, and I had read every single post up to that point, and it hadn't been mentioned once.
But, thanks for biting my head off and crapping down my neck.

Worthy to mention that she did not reply/confirm to several halo pics already posted in the thread.
She could have long ago said "Oh no, this doesn't look in the slightest like it"...or "Oh yes, that's what I saw".
Why not? The sun halo thing could've debunked or have been confirmed as being something else LOOONG ago already.
So..makes me wonder why she didn't reply to those inputs...MAYBE she realized that's what she saw and wants to avoid ridicule?
(Just saying...)
