Native Indian tribes regard the owl as a symbol of death, hence it's the animal form chosen by main villain Bob who is the embodiment of a Native American demonic spirit. I doubt Lynch has been to Bohemian Grove, but I wouldn't put it past co-creator Mark Frost who I suspect was the main instigator of the UFO/HS angle, and must be reveling in the wide-ranging Conspiracy Theory theme of the latest series (which I have yet to see).
The belief that owls are messengers and harbingers of the dark powers is also found among the Hočągara (Winnebago) of Wisconsin.[49] When in earlier days the Hočągara committed the sin of killing enemies while they were within the sanctuary of the chief's lodge, an owl appeared and spoke to them in the voice of a human, saying, "From now on the Hočągara will have no luck." This marked the beginning of the decline of their tribe.[50] An owl appeared to Glory of the Morning, the only female chief of the Hočąk nation, and uttered her name. Soon afterwards she died.[51][52]
I remember this from late 70s/early 80s? I thought it was shown in the mornings during school summer holidays but I can't really remember. Nor much much about the plot. It was about a bunch of people lost on a mystical island (sound familiar?) in the Bermuda Triangle. Some were aliens, some from different Earth time zones. There's a few old epsiodes around on YT. Apparently DC Fontana (of Star Trek TOS fame) worked on it. I seem to remember this was around the time that "Battlestar Galactica", "Man from Atlantis" and "Buck Rogers" were all produced in the wake of Close Encounters and Star Wars. I sometimes wonder if these shows were made to project certain 'supernatural beliefs' in a fictional setting. Mainly to tune young impressionable minds in a certain way. Then began a project to diffuse these ideas into UFO lore and make people believe in some of these links with Ancient Aliens, galactic federations, Atlantis, lost human civilizations, crop circles and everything else in that pot that has been thrown in since. Something definitely changed in the 1980s as ufology took a more sinister turn and I don't think aliens were behind it!

You mean?
Part 1
Look at the first comment by someone called Steve L!
Part II
There's another comment there too!
Seems like these "Merc Schools" were started in 1981. That's right after Rendlesham had happened. There's also a very interesting part about Frank's military records and his responses too. As we know someone involved in the RFI discovered their records had been messed with too.
I wonder how long those videos will survive on YT?

There is a bit where La Plume mentions the high turnover at the twin bases and that there was an individual there that was making it "easy" for people to get out of the service to the extent that he was found out and let go...that raised an eyebrow for me...I thought that La Plume said he would say more about him later but I don't think that he got back around to it, unless I am missing it.
Another thing I am intrigued by, La Plume keeps referring to tunnel-vision and brain fog when he saw the craft, does he mean this literally or figuratively...did his perception change, or did he just get hyper-focused (ie on defensive alert)?
He mentions that Palmer (?) the senior officer at the gate asked him if he was going to report the sighting and he said he wasn't...he was subsequently followed and felt intimidated...doesn't that sound like some kind of a test?
From La Plume, the places he mentions I was thinking that the work he was doing was protecting private, corporate interests, maybe arms and supply route protection...I'm intrigue by his repeated Freudian slip of saying Nicaragua and correcting it with Honduras...I counted three times he does that, he doesn't seem to have the same issue with other places he mentions...so, tell me more about these FBI cointelpro operations please.
I think that you may have hit a nail though in terms of selection processes. It has a certain ting-a-ling-ling to it.

I posted the link a few posts back the Gut. You may have missed it.
Quote. Mr. LaPLUM was an attendant at Dolomite Merc as I was, GUTter, not at the same time or in the same capacity. He wasn't a graduate and he wasn't trained in LRRPs ops either. Let's say he was a magnanimous stretcher of his imagination and leave it at that.

...It is true there were a group of us that were new. I have no clue as to how many new vs older SP's were in the forest that night but please note while the forest was UK we did have war games with British troops in there on a few occasions so some of the older SP's would have known at least a bit about the forest...
...My personal thoughts are thus; We were Efed with in some manner to believe we saw a UFO. I can not explain how Penniston came up with a bunch of 001101010101010 stuff to actually get Coordinates to hot spots around the world one of which was in China at a place that is one of the most sacred Mountains in Chinese culture and historically was very important to the Chinese. Again a whole slew of unanswered questions makes this case very interesting.
I talked to John Burroughs about this like maybe 4 years ago and he at the time seemed to think Electro Magnetic Radiation would have been used to somehow make us open our minds while perhaps holograms were shown. again I have no clue. But I do know that there are a few side effects to this upon studying it and radiation burns to the eyes as some had. Uncontrolled feeling of grief or doom (Some airmen were supposedly seen leaning against trees and crying) and also a very aggressive attitude where there was none before. I would have to say I fell in to that category...
...After this incident I changed inside I changed I knew it I felt it I grew up and grew a set of brass balls seemingly overnight. I wanted to go fight I wanted to go to Rhodesia and fight I wanted blood (Rhodesia had ended though but there were still ranchers needing security) Larry can testify one of the last things I said to him (Excuse the vulgarity) was when he asked me what I planned to do when I got out my reply was "I want to go to Africa and kill 'n-word's" I had never said that word a day in my life before that. I heard it come out of my mouth and wondered who it was that had said it...
... I ended up in Nicaragua fighting with the Contras. Ok fair enough war is war. Jungle fighting suited me well I liked it and I was pretty good at it. I am still here despite a few extra holes in me. I am not bragging truly I am not I am trying to show the polite mammas boy who left for basic training in July of 1980 was not the same man that returned in April of 1981. Something happened I just have no clue as to what...
...Today after man years of trying to get my Chit together I have rejoined the human race and I no longer have such a blood lust. But I sure as heck did then. I was in love with death it was damn near sexual is the best way I can describe it..I simply did not care about anything life friends nothing I was simply out for blood.
So tell me why did I change so radically so quickly? No really anyone have an answer to offer? Part of the reason I wish to talk about this is to find out the answer to that question. Its been what 33 years now? That's a long time to wonder about such a thing with no more clue now than I did the day after the event.
Cheers
Steve

One of the reasons I don't like art critique is because I enjoy suspending my disbelief and being immersed in other realities...when we started extrapolating what the artist intended or meant we start to lose sight of the whole that the artist wanted to present...if that makes sense. Science is like that, or has been like that for too long, it looks at the pieces, extracts the elements puts them into neat, delineated piles instead of seeking to understand what role they play in situ...
... all art becomes art through interaction with the audience, it is the audience that finds the truths hidden within.
[Re Twin Peaks] Those of my own age group perhaps did but more for the beautiful young cast members...it was very niche back then, and I think to those of us who really dug it, it was because it showed a reality we could far better relate to than the soap operas that were grey and lifeless thriving on the delusion that everyone says what they think and means what they say. Twin Peaks instead was telling us how it really was.
Not sure if that makes any sense, so I shall end it there...my point being I didn't really have that WTF moment so I find it hard to relate to, or recollect it having that effect.

But for the record let me state this. We were trained specialists. We were not a bunch of keystone cops. We all took our job very seriously. We had the right to shoot people on sight if they breached our security so it was not a game for us it was real life and we were not a bunch of fools or incompetent security personnel. We were not mall cop security and I have seen some comments by people suggesting this or that we were drunk or stoned or whatever. That did not happen that I ever saw. Once I do know of a guy that was either hung over or a bit drunk from the night before on post and he was removed from post so fast his head spun. We had exercises every night to keep us on our toes and we never knew when an exercise would take place so, well, you get the picture. I just get offended when people suggest we were less than professional and not trained well. We were trained very well.

We had heard a rumor of a UFO in the woods but not much came of it for a while....but little has been said about the sighting that Senior Airmen Palmer and myself had a few weeks later.
A few things to point out is that when we saw this thing it was like a plane or a satellite in the sky. Very far off and basically just moving up and down kind of zig zagging in the southern sky. It head out toward the North Sea and we lost it behind the forest.
The thing I remember most was that once Palmer confirmed with the tower that the only thing up were a few choppers and a C-130, we decided to call it in because we had been instructed to report anything like that.
Well man the sh** hit the fan... As soon as he called it in the phone rang in the shack at the East gate. Lt. Englund was there and told me to report - which I did. He then told me to stay put and keep an eye out. I relayed this to Palmer...
Col. Halt...showed up - also present was a high ranking officer, with his wife and son. No lie! I remember the Nikon camera around the kid's neck. But mostly I remember his wife being all excited and saying "Oh boy, maybe we get to see one" or something very close to that...
Lt. Englund finally showed up and told me not to be nervous but that Col. Williams would be here in a minute and would ask me to report and I was to say all safe and secure. He also informed me that the Col was just voted a General by Congress a few days earlier. I had just turned eighteen. (no pressure Steve just stay calm).
After reporting they all.. headed out toward the forest. I was baffled as to why since the thing was miles in the sky...
About an hour later they came back and went their separate ways. Of course they posted me on the gate for the rest of the night instead of riding around with Palmer (who was LE not Security)..
Later... I think about an hour, Palmer came back to check on me. All was quiet and ..we both noticed there was a craft out toward the Orford Light house... It came in very low and I estimated about 1000 ft off the deck. I only had the trees to use as a reference. The thing came right out over the forest and had a pale blue light under it, which illuminated the ground...
The craft came directly toward us and soon we were both engulfed in the light and the craft was directly overhead. I remember thinking " Wow this is like the coolest thing I have ever seen". I was not scared, just in complete awe. Then it went to the southern sky and made its way up until I /we could not tell it from a star. And it was gone. We decided not to call that one in.
...I have three thoughts in closing.
1st - If it was a UFO why did Palmer and I see it and no one else?
2nd - Palmer was very "stand offish" and was later assigned to the AFOSI. I feel he was involved somehow in this and might even believe it was some sort of hallucination experiment like he may have sprayed me with something and I was given suggestive thoughts. I don't know just a thought here.
3rd - Why would all this brass come out of the wood work at one in the morning if there was not something going on?
I offer no explanation I still have no idea what I saw other than its size shape and lack of noise. As far as the others who had the big incident I have no doubt they believe they saw what they saw.
As a side note - I "snapped" and got kicked out of the service...

I have nothing more to add to this case that I can think of and actually I thought it might be a good idea to get on here and talk about this but it actually is causing me a bit of anxiety and I think I will just crawl back in to my hole and stop talking about al this. I am not sure why but every now and then I get the urge to talk about this issue but when I do it really causes anxiety no sleep etc and then I back off. When I don't talk about it then I live life like a normal person. So After I figure out when John talked to me That will be about it for me.
Sorry but this is just a stressful issue given the whole deal with me and leaving the service the way I felt I needed to for my own safety (at the time) Just a big bad dream for me I would rather forget I guess when it comes down to it.
Just trying to be honest here. but for those who think this case is al B.S. I assure you it effected everyone involved in some manner and mostly in a negative manner. I can not comment on how people have reacted or what they are doing now or their motives. I never got into the whole lime light dog and pony show end of this I have no agenda other than to try to figure out what I saw that night. Good luck with your quest.

In the video you linked before, when he refers to his own sighting of a craft he goes into some detail about how he was very hung over from the party he had in his dorm room the night before when he went on duty...
...small detail, but...
Note that one way that is easy to debunk a story is to get those involved telling conflicting stories. Then all involved look like liars and are therefore unreliable. It would make sense that if someone did not want this to come out for the truth it was then all involved would have been messed with or at least enough people to make the others look like fools.
