Thanks!

I see many trying to justify the cowardice and to downplay any attempt at being self-reliant.

Anything to enable government and to downplay any attempt at self-determination.

Black and white thinking, nothing more. You are no more self reliant than I am, I work every day, pay my bills, take care of my family, get no government help (Other than VA). I rely on my employer, the grocery store, the gas station etc. NONE OF US ARE SELF RELIANT, we even rely on someone else to communicate with each other. Unless you are totally off of the grid and provide all of your own needs, you are not self reliant, your mere presence in this forum would indicate that.

One last thing and as a addendum to my previous post...

There's one way to grade our actions as a society. Basically, if people are happy in a hyper-secure environment AND producing and we're surviving then does it matter? NO. However, if we consistently fail then perhaps a hyper-secure environment is the wrong way to go to achieve a peaceful and productive end.

I do believe it's a leveraging between freedom and security to establish a balance in society. Problem is we need time to know what works and what doesn't. I think it's difficult to judge exactly what caused what in history and perhaps we'll always fumble with it in an attempt to get it right. That's a sad thought.

One thing is sure: I admire independent people. I don't admire dependent people. I can care about them and love them and respect them, but not admire.

I didn't do that. I have witnesses.

Ok. That was my bad, but I had anger management issues back then.

Then, 1963 and JFK... what HAPPENED?? A NATION of PUNKS!!!

That was Lee Harvey.

We'll never know our limits until we start pushing at them.

Until we start working beyond our expectations, we'll live in quiet complacency.

Obamacare will save me about $400 bucks a month and possibly take me off of the VA rolls. Entitlements need to be looked at, and fraud needs to be eliminated, fraud needs to be eliminated everywhere. I don't think we need larger government, what we have needs to work more efficiently, and needs to be reformed, at every level. But, hey, I am a centerist, and no one wants to listen to me, I don't scream loud enough, and I can't attract any nut jobs.

What's funny Beezer is that you are whining about people blaming everyone but themselves while simultaneously blaming hundreds of millions of people. Now you can sit there on your high horse and cry about how cowardly Americans are but you are absolutely dead wrong. Plenty of people are fighting back just not in a way that you like. You and the TP want everyone to roll over and let Corporations go unfettered get rid of all regulations, let the market decide wah wah wah... the rest of America has said NO! ENOUGH! We are done begging for handouts, done letting our jobs be shipped off and allowed to be used abusively toward other humans, done doing all the fking work and getting bread crumbs. Here's my counter-rant and counter-rage to you and the TP....

Take your Corporations, take your whining, take your goddamned hero worship of greed and GTFO out of America... Secede already, have your white, rich, mysogynistic utopia and let the rest of us get on with our lives.

Obamacare is a scam.. people want a 21st century style of health care.. GET PROFIT out of it.. THAT is COWARDLY BEYOND MOST... profiting off of people being sick, disabled, dying, etc..

I can't think about it, or I go mental...

Entitlements?... people are entitled to be provided for ---->IF

All I want is a small, efficient government. I'm a strong believer in reforms. I think fraud, waste, abuse needs to be punished.

But I'm "fringe" and a "hater".

Um, no. Just pointing out. Just making an observation. I guess freedom of speech is "just a figure of speech"?

Lee Harvey? really? Lee Harvey.. all alone did it... Ok whatever..lol
and

the PUNKS are the nation that did NOTHING about it., when a leader is killed people take to the streets and apply PRESSURE until the truth pours out through BLOODSHED of needed.

Look at Franz Ferdinand.. supposedly that led to a world war.. ffs..
'
but the biggest Man on the biggest stage gets clipped and then the whole country GOES BANANAS!!

hippies, thumpers, and the greedy "keep out heads down, don't make waves, worry about yourself, etc" masses.

the country was OVERTHROWN in 1963.. secretly "they" needed decades to complete.

Welcome to the Machine..

I honestly don't think you are a hater, but I think you see a very Black/white world. In your vision there are not a lot of shades of gray. In my world there are some things that are black and white, but a lot more that are shades of gray. Sometimes it seems that the world you live in sees compromise as a bad thing. While we sit here and debate red state/blue state, our politicians are doing nothing to solve the real issues that face this country. This is a very partisan example, but Boehner has entertained bills that would repeal Obamacare about 40 times, but no one has offered an alternative. No one has done anything for jobs, the poor, the unemployed, or a biggie right now, Immigration.

People don't want freedom. They think they do, but they really only want to be comfortable, safe. If it means giving up a bit here and there...so be it. At least we have our cable TV and cars and our wi-fi and our prescription drugs...

Arbeit Macht Frei....America's new motto

People used to want freedom.

Then society changed the definition.

Now freedom is described as a freedom from responsibility.

A very dark motto, but too true.

The VA where I am at provides a more comprehensive care than the ACA can provide. I would stay on it if I were you. You earned it. If you are in the VA system keep what you have.

Of course, there are those in Congress who are trying to make the VA on par with the ACA and it will not bode well in the long run for Vets. Serving in the military does not do the body well at all. We've used and abused our bodies. You think that the ACA is a good thing? The rest of America is about to find out what a pain in the tookus it is that us Vets know when it comes to getting help. And to often, it is too little, too late.
