I think the difference here is that in Christianity, men are instructed to love their wives. So, if they were actually obeying what is written, women are respected and loved properly. In Islam men are instructed to beat their wives if they refuse sex or are argumentative. Also, young daughters may be sold into marriage against the daughters expressed wishes to do so. Honor killings of women are also permissible in Islam. I would think that a woman would want to be free, respected, and be able to walk about dressed as they please and not all covered up because muslim men can't trust their urges or feel threatened by beautiful women.

To me, the whole idea of oppressing women has do to with an inferiority complex that came all the way back from Muhammad himself and others like him who had trouble coping with the presence of a woman. So many teachings were added or written into the Quran and the hadiths to ensure the supreme dominance of men.

Tradition is different to Religion. Islam does not allow Husbands to beat wives nor does it allow Honour killings and many other things you mentioned. Yes some who claim to be Muslims beat their wives, sell their daughters, kill their children because they refused to marry a 50 year old, does Islam allow any of this? No!

Check out free-minds.org and the forum (just add /forum), Women have the right to dress as they want, i.e. respect yourself. Same goes for men. The Quran instructs women/men to cover themselves, yes, wear clothes. It's illegal to walk outside naked.

Your last paragraph is interesting and I partly agree with it. I will use Aisha as an example: Prophet Muhammad PBUH allegedly married her when she was 6. This hadith now seems to give Men the ability to marry little children which is disgusting. The truth is, Aisha was in her late teens (18-20 yrs old) when she Married the Prophet.. I believe the hadith which mentions Aisha's age as 6 is fabricated to benefit horny men.

There are instructors of Islam who teach that a women is to be beaten to correct her when she refuses sex or if she is rebellious (thinks for herself).

You mention that you think the hadith teaching on Muhammad marrying a little girl 6 years old is corrupted. Could be, but then that opens a pandora's box of questions as to what else is made up or created for the benefit of any given ruler of that day so that the Quran is so inconsistent and contradictory that it cannot be trusted as any word of god.

I put it in the translater online and it read "allah with".
