Ever heard of McArthyism?
It's a fairly significant part of American History.
It doesn't even take a HighSchool education to know about it.

Lol! I think you mean "McCarthyism"..

I surmise you had no clue that with the declassification of the VENONA papers Joseph McCarthy was vindicated as an American patriot and 100% correct about in infiltration of Russian communist spies into the deepest areas of American government.

people predicted this would happen, likely because it happened to them. and they saw patterns.

McCarthy accused George Marshall of being a communist. The guy was in it purely to further his own career.

Yes, they are for most of those things. One thing you need to understand about RINO Republicans is that they campaign in their red states as Conservatives. They don't "let the cat out of the bag" until they get to Washington and begin voting against Conservatives and with Democrats. Those people could never get elected in their red states if they ran a campaign as a RINO. And the sad thing about this is that 98% of the constituents in their states never take the time to find out how their representative or senator is voting and only gets engaged in politics for a few weeks every election cycle. So you need to ignore their rhetoric and look at how they actually cast their votes.

Those people I mentioned attack the Conservatives in both houses as feverously as the Democrats do. RINOs hate Conservatives.

Who actually defines who is or is not a RINO? I'm just wondering, given the rightward path of the Republicans over recent years. It seems to me that the goalposts are constantly being shifted.

You read none of the links did you? Lol

Actually I did. One of the pages that your links went to contained this interesting observation: "To what extent any given individual named in the Venona papers was actually involved with Soviet intelligence is a topic of dispute."

Well, that's why I liked to progressiverepublicans.org

They should be qualified to speak on their own behalf.

I think RINO is too harsh a description. They sound saner than the Tea Party lunatics who seem to be growing in strength in the Republican Party at the moment.

Oh I wasn't judging them by what they said in campaigns, I'm judging by what they say and advocate and vote for or against once they've won. I'm not seeing anything progressive there. Are you judging by voting records or just what others say? I don't think any honest person can look at the voting records and say that they uphold the platform of these 'Progressive Republicans".

Let's see, they vote for tax increases, deficit spending, they voted for amnesty, voted for gun control, voting for Dodd Frank.

If you want to compare, compare their votes against the votes of the Conservatives, I.e. Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Rand Paul. George W. Bush greatly expanded welfare, education, and massively expanded deficit spending.

TEA party is the fracturing of the GOP. The Conservatives leaving the Progressives behind. And I would imagine you do think the Progressive Republicans as "sane", considering they are Progressives, Republican in name only.

Last time I looked the Tea Party was taking over the Republicans and driving out the progressives. One of my wife's cousins left the Republicans in some disgust and became an Independent.

I suggest you go back and actually look at the voting records of the individuals you named and compare them to that platform list.

Mitch Mconnell

Voted against the Immigration Modernization Act
Voted for completion of the border fence
Voted yes on US-Visit requirement at every port of entry in the US
Voted to let student loan interest rates rise

Shall I go on or are you going to actually look for yourself?

I don't see a Constitutional requirement for the Federal government to be involved in Education. That money should stay in the school districts it's taxed out of.

You don't know politics. The vote to end debate and send the immigration bill to the floor was the problem. It allowed the RINOs to bring the bill up for a vote and then they could pretend to be against it so when they go back to their constituents they can say "See! I was against this bill, look how I voted!". When they actually voted to end debate and send it to the floor knowing the Democrats had enough votes to pass it without any Republicans voting yes.

Ted Cruz highlighted this tactic on the floor of the Senate earlier this year. When he called out the hack RINOs he was vilified in the Sunday talk shows by fellows like Graham and his same-sex partner John McCain.

No, the leadership of the GOP is the Progressives. It's been that way since Teddy Roosevelt. The Conservatives are the minority within the GOP.

Do you ever wonder why no matter who wins the White House nothing ever seems to change? (Except Regean of course). It's because whether a R or D wins the vote the Progressives move right along with their agenda.
