If you think you can either step up or shut up.

Show me someone who doesn't rub elbows with paedophiles and I'd love to give them the chance to run any country they choose.

like most threads on here i am not going to mourn....this woman destroyed britain in the 80s,my father had to leave us for 3 years to go work in the shetland isles cause she destroyed any chance of him finding a job where he was

my mum and dad worked all hours for buttons and then the wicked witch decided that they should be a trial for the poll tax in scotland just to destroy the working class even more.....for me she,ll always be knowing as bringing misery to the working class

Respect commands respect. She didn't respect any of the millions of people she screwed over. None will be given back in return.

She totally put an end to the great city of Liverpool.
Some people seem to forgive the wrong doings of their ex leaders.

I'll never forgive that woman for what she done to the working class of my country !

And I also remember the 70's under the previous Labour govt...what a mess, the three day weeks,

It was Ted Heath (Conservative) that introduced the 3 day week.

Sorry, yes, you're right, but he had to as there was not enough coal to produce enough electricity due to the miners striking...again...That was what prompted the Save It Campaign as well...every single business and individual suffered as a result of a few grasping for more,, I remember it well...froze my a$$ off from age 7-9, in a household where my widowed mother worked 40 hrs per week just to keep the roof over our heads...

No striking for her, her children had to eat, and yes she did worry that her local govt job would call for strike action over some obscure issue because she knew that whilst she believed in equal rights for all, she didn't agree with many of the silly disputes and that she didn't want to defend some of the more ludicrous actions and she couldn't afford to lose the pay...a good pay, she was proud of what she achieved, as was I, but some people would put that down and claim she should have had more, but the reality is that we did have a good life, own house, car etc as did many of that era

And if we want to blame the govt for everything that is wrong in our lives...well we really should wake up to reality!

Do you know what...if I have to hear that bloody woman's name once more on my tele this evening, I'll go f**king ape!

"Maggie Thatcher this, Maggie Thatcher that" all over the 10 O'clock news....now "Where in Grantham, the town where she was born blah blah" on the regional news at 10:30pm, and now there's an entire 1-hour length documentary on her political life which has been rushed on by ITV at 11:00pm!

Is they really any need? FFS she was 87 years old.....guess what MSM, old people generally do tend to DIE.

I dread the day the Queen dies I really do, I think my TV, mobile and Facebook feed will explode!

Why are we supposed to respect Thatcher again?

www.digitalspy.com...

CNN has drawn unwanted attention on the internet after broadcasting a picture of Margaret Thatcher with Jimmy Savile.

Thatcher, the former Prime Minister, passed away aged 87 this morning after a stroke. However, the US news channel has run a photo of her with the disgraced DJ and TV presenter.

The image was caught and posted on Twitter by The Wall Street Journal's Neal Mann.

"Oh dear, someone at CNN obviously didn't get the memo," he tweeted.

Oh, wait. Just a gaffe.

Respect for others then, if not for her...

I share this view -

Although within you may be happy at someone's death, to come on a public forum and post such comments and links is disrespectful to those that may have been close to her and that are completely innocent. This is a public forum, YouTube is a public viewing platform, I would not want my feelings of happiness at someone's death to hurt an innocent party/family member in grieving, no matter how remote the chance. Is this not just common decency?

I guess some people are completely different, I wouldn't have the front to celebrate a persons death in public, even if it were my worse enemy... it's not heroic by any stretch.

She put an end to Liverpool...really??? Liverpool is still there as far as I'm aware...

Perhaps stop living in the past...Thatcher has not been in power for a long time, the last Government (Labour was in power from 1997 to 2010 so what have they done for Liverpool?

Thatcher's daughter Carol was a journalist when her mother was in power who was outspoken against her policies at the time. Her twin brother Mark was prone to living off his mother's name and attempting to take over the odd country against it's will.

Carol would understand the outcry - and who cares what Mark thinks?

Successive governments have been economically right and, socially, they've been centrists at best.

Do you understand the meaning of left and right?

There is no comparison involved here. There is no relativism here. I tried to have a few words of respect for a World leader I personally respected. Nothing more... Nothing less.

As is becoming far too common here lately, I can't have a few words of respect like that without a reply to trash the object of that respect .....whether the thread or topic called for it or not. Whether it had any relation or not.

That .....is what I just can't fathom or, as it happens, respect.

It's a basic thing ...but it's common decency.

As it happens for an example, I thought Ted Kennedy and his splashing history pretty well made him an example of all that is wrong with the United States Senate and U.S. Politics in general ....and still held my tongue on sharp remarks amidst those giving memorial and tribute statements.

There is a time and place for everything ........or there used to be. Apparently, it's all mixed and even this, a memorial thread, cannot remain without attacks.

Now I'm off the thread and I think ...a break for a couple days is in order. I'm about disgusted with it all after that. Enough.

This my be harsh... but

Good riddance. Ding dong the witch is dead.

My father will be most pleased, he hated the woman with a passion. I didnt live in England, but my father is British and I grew up at the time she was in power so I got to see on the news, satire and through the papers just what harm she did to that country and its people.

Yes its not good karma to be happy about a persons death, but in this world there are a small select few who DO in fact deserve such disrespect, and she was one of them.

Sorry if that offends.

edit:- That being said however, I will say im sorry for her children (if any) and her husband (is he still alive?), after all while she was a vile politician, she was part of a family.
edit on 8-4-2013 by BigfootNZ because: (no reason given)

One of her children is an arms dealer and the other is a racist who was banned from downing street.

I wouldn't worry too much about their sensitivities. Sounds like they both inherited the evil of their mother

The people who are calling for respect need to re-read this thread and see if their name comes up on any one of many disrespectful comments towards Chavez. I mean, I know you live by a double standard. But maybe you will realize that yourself? I know I saw at least one familiar name.

*cough Wrabbit2000 cough* Hypocrite.

I don't usually feel good when another person dies.... I'll make an exception just this once. I think I'll buy myself some take out on the way home as a little treat for the occasion.

yeah its still there but i,m guessin hes talking about she destroyed alot of liverpools history and jobs like she did for most places in britain.....alot of jobs and history were destroyed when she was in power and denying that is actually a bit of a slur on the millions of people who tried to fight to save the only thing they had.

What a wonderful lady!
www.mirror.co.uk...

The papers also contain a letter to the now-disgraced DJ Jimmy Savile, a regular visitor at the PM’s private country house Chequers.

In a reply to a letter from him, dated April 20 and which does not survive, she writes: “Very many thanks for your letter.

"It was most encouraging to hear from you at this difficult time. PS Best wishes to all kind friends at Stoke Mandeville”.

What's in the background of the first picture in the article showing Thatcher shaking hands with Robert Mugabe?

I'm not sure, but they look like sheep to me.
