Good luck trying to make sense with this one, guys. The last time I ran into truejew on a thread, he fought all logic and Scripture like it was going out of style and then told me he could "rebuke" me and anything I said but I had no "authority" to do the same to him since I'm just a girl.

If I were y'all, I'd start "rebuking" him and saving my breath because it'll be wasted in an argument with him...it's like trying to have a reasoned conversation with a brick wall.

"Hebrew's not a language"...seriously, where does one come up with this kind of stuff?!

What you call "logic and Scripture" is actually traditions of non-Christian teachers.

The problems with your view is a wife can't have authority over her husband, but another woman can and a woman in authority in the church has authority over her husband. Your view is not Biblical according to the curse put on men and women and the teaching of Paul.

Genesis 3:17 And to the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy pains and thy groanings; in pain thou shalt bring forth children, and thy submission shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

As pointed out to you already. Paul praised the work of women in the ministry in several epistles. And the same Greek word used for those women is the same word used for "deacon". You're an antiSemite and apparently now a misogynist. The NT only says a woman should not have spiritual authority over her own husband. Even if a woman teaches in the church she still is under the authority of the pastor. And I said a wife should not have "authority" over her own husband, that's completely different than being a teacher of the word of God.

People are not supposed to follow every word of their pastor as of it were scripture, but are to check what is being taught by going to the Bible to verify if it's correct or not. Pastors are fallible just like every other human on Earth, but the Word of God is truth. The Bereans were praised as being noble for doing this with the teachings they were receiving.

Modern day "Hebrew" is an attempt to speak Paleo-Hebrew/Phoenecian.

So Hebrew does exist you at least admit that

As any language it evolves with time. My last conversation with a teenager may as well of been in Hindi

Talking about my car

"Man that is phat innit" hardly English yet based on the language

Paleo Hebrew (old Hebrew) would be the equivalent of Chaucer to English, same language but unreadable without knowledge and teaching

I can read and understand Chaucer almost as well as I do Shakespeare

Same language but If I spoke it daily I may as well speak a foreign language. Look to the roots of your language
and how different it was 400 years ago let alone 2000 if it even existed back then.

Your argument is mute

Colour (correctly spelled) as opposed to color the bastardisation (also spelled correctly) of a modern language

Is a classic example, so by your own argument you don't speak English

And yet you would claim that you do

jcutler,

Thanks, you tried to help TJ.

You hit the nail on the head. By whose authority do we believe what we do? Protestant pastors convert to Roman Catholicism when they realize two things, the question of true authority, (God given) and they read the writings of the men taught by the Apostles. Read their quotes on subjects of the faith.

Another tied to authority, forget arguing the meaning of Scripture because of the heresy of "private judgment." A person can argue the Word of God till the Final Judgment. God gave the Church, the authority to interpret the
Bible.

Read the English translation of the first Bible (St. Jerome's Latin Vulgate) called the Douay-Rheims. The footnotes will help you a lot on tough verses. Not one verse in the OT or NT conflicts with another if you go by Church, her interpretation. Online, but go purchase a paperback Douay-Rheims. Prophecy says we are not going to have the Internet forever. www.drbo.org...

I'm definitely not married to TJ (thank God) and I've tried...and failed. Very true...and there's no understanding anything for him. It's sad, really...

Good Lord in Heaven above...

TrueJew, you would argue with a tree if there wasn't anyone around for you to actually converse with!

I truly wish you health and happiness, peace and prosperity, etc. Good luck with...whatever it is that you're trying to accomplish here.

Thanks, colbe. Yeah, I tried to help him but to no avail, unfortunately. I can't even remember exactly what we talked about but it didn't end well. I have a Douay Rheims Bible (my father was Southern Baptist, my mother was Roman Catholic, I grew up in a house divided LOL) and I've studied the DR and the KJV since early childhood...and I've got a rather unique perspective concerning Christianity having been heavily involved in Protestanism and Catholicism for most of my life.

I was about to write more but my daughter just woke up for some reason, I can hear her walking around in her room
I'll be back later.

May the two hearts keep you safe as well!
Jennifer

EDIT: hahahaha! Egg on my face!!! I thought you were a Jay Cutler fan. Lolol. It's seriously too close to football season.

Given the misogyny, I think it safe to assume that TrueJew is a male.

His group won't let women wear anything but floor length dresses, cut their hair or speak in church, so it's not unlikely that they are also prevented from accessing sources of "outside knowledge" like ATS.

Well, I'm sorry but actions speak louder than words. If you told a woman that she couldn't teach you anything for the simple fact that that she was born with a vagina instead of a penis that is the epitome of misogyny.

No. There is Phoenecian and Aramaic. Just because they are spoken by the Hebrews, does not make it Hebrew. In the same way that English being spoken by Americans does not make it American.

It appears that you have a problem with God and the curse that came upon women due to Eve's action.

I would also point out that men have their own curse to deal with.

I don't have any problems with God. The person you said that to wasn't your wife. Unless you are somehow vastly more holy and righteous than Paul you likewise can appreciate and praise women for their work in the ministry.

The women Paul praised were helping in their husband's ministry. They did not have their own ministry.

Can you show where it says that in the text? They were deaconesses. The same Greek word is used for them as for deacons. You are a misogynist if you believe you cannot have your iron sharpened by a woman or be taught something from scripture by them.

LOL, NO! DEFINITELY not a Jay Cutler fan or a Bears fan...my ex-husband's name is Jay, his last name wasn't Cutler (that's my maiden name) but he got the Jay Cutler joke a lot when we were married and it annoyed me to no end...now I get the joke and it drives me crazy

I prefer college football...South Carolina and Alabama are my teams. Heck, I'm an SEC supporter in general!
My NFL teams are the Panthers, Saints, and Falcons.

ETA: I'm a football fanatic, really...it's never close enough to football season until it's actually football season, LOL! And I CANNOT WAIT to see South Carolina whoop Clemson's butt!

LOL, I agree...he does himself no favors. And now he's up against NotUrTypical, who is fantastic when it comes to debate and logic...so this could get ugly

ETA: adjensen is awesome with the whole debate thing too. Honestly, I don't think TJ stands much of a chance against you, NOTurTypical, adjensen, and colbe.
