Outside of a dead LC (Jeor's predecessor) and Selyse pointing to his heritage, that is it.

Assuming I am right, I will give you this. Arthur Dayne was a man of historic prominence. His face would be known. That's where the many-faced god comes in.

All men must die.
CotF and the white walkers are their weapon=All men must die.

He was raised by the Night's Watch and was well known to them. He also rode south with LC Qorgyle and met Ned Stark and his children. I think Ned would've recognized the man he allegedly killed at the ToJ.

I don't think he is Mance, but I do think Ned shagged his sister

The question is will we see Dawn again. His sword, the only one to be made of a different property from the the Valerian steel families.
Will we see Ashara again, her body never found.

Could she be living in the shadows? Protecting her child? maybe she is Quaithe of the shadow.

Or was she just a red herring as Jon's mother?

I don't think Mance and Ned met. However that doesn't mean that at anytime anyone wouldn't notice a famous dead man walking around.

That video I linked is part of four I believe. I'll finish them up and read the corroborating chapters and see if that blank fills in. One thing I would point out is that the evidence to provide Mance with a solid identity come from characters that don't have a POV.

Glad this isn't an echo chamber. I could get lost in some of these rabbit holes.

Storm of Swords, Chapter 7, Jon 1.

(it's like quoting the Bible)

edit on 29-8-2017 by AugustusMasonicus because: Armaments 2:9-21 And the people did feast upon the lambs, and sloths, and carp, and anchovies, and orangutans, and breakfast cereals, and fruit bats...

Keep in mind I haven't read the books in their entirety. Only some pertinent chapters and the first book. Lots of wiki entries and videos as well.

I think we will see dawn again. I think it is critical. I also think that Longclaw is not a Mormont heirloom. However I doubt these two are one in the same.

Seems to be that Ashara is a Septon watching over the young Griff (Aegon Targaryen) and the maester that accompanies them is the original man from Winterfell before Luwen who came from House Tully. This is not a popular theory but some aspects line up well.

Mance indicates that he has seen Jon twice before, once when he was still a black brother and Jon just a boy, and again during King Robert’s visit to Winterfell. Mance had disguised himself as a singer in order to see King Robert and get the measure of Benjen Stark, who was a bane to the wildlings. Testing Jon, he asks why he deserted the Night’s Watch, but Jon asks him to tell his story first. The king explains that he had been wounded in a hunt and treated by an old wildling woman. She mended his cloak with burgundy fabric which was rare for wildlings to have and hence very valuable to part with. When Mance returned to the Watch, they replaced his cloak with a new black one emphasizing the importance of the black uniform and not recognizing the symbolism of her gift. Mance came to resent the restriction to the new black cloak of the Night’s Watch. Jon, knowing now that Mance was at Winterfell, asks, "And did you see where I was seated Mance? Did you see where they put the bastard?" The king then accepts Jon as member of the free folk.

The words of Mance. I could be missing more context here, granted.

I think it's pretty clear the context of the chapter prevents him from being Dayne.

"The Shy Maid" That is the boat correct?

Doesn't Meera describe Ned as the shy wolf and Ashara as the maid with laughing purple eyes?

Well then Mason, there's only one thing left to do. Grab your Lambas bread and I'll stock up on mead. Were heading to Greywater Watch to dig up Howland Reed. He has some splaining to do and if my research is correct, you have means of making him talk.

The crannogman saw a maid with laughing purple eyes dance with a white sword, a red snake, and the lord of griffins, and lastly with the quiet wolf... but only after the wild wolf spoke to her on behalf of a brother too shy to leave his bench.[5]

Considering he is the guy who skewered Dayne do you think it's wise to torment him?

I'm pretty sure he's dead. The guy who made the videos is omitting critical information that's in the book as evidenced by Mance being raised by the Night's Watch and traveling to Winterfell and meeting Ned prior to becoming the King Beyond the Wall.

You're definitely the Lyanna Mormont of ATS. Short, feisty and calling the shots.
