I think he is ashamed of the scripts since 5.
He will release the books just before season 8 if he was as wicked and cunning as me,

Yeah that all got started with m'ladyinwaiting.
She was commenting how the night king might be headed to kl to claim cercei as her queen,

Keep in mind me and m'lady like to throw out absurd Disney~esque theories..I do it for funzies.

M'lady zazzafrazz of house kalmatta let her analytical mind take control as usual and expounded on the theory with back story from the books.

Hope that helps, grand measter Augustus.

It's very confusing.
The book the NK isn't the "Others" Big Kahuna, but everyone is calling him the NK in the show and I'm not sure why?

But i just go with it, as it's one of many confusing things lol.

Yeah, I understand your frustration, us HBO noobs should be given some slack though.
When the show doesn't differentiate between the others ,the night king ,is it the white walkers or the Wight walkers..It's all very confusing . Even the way the show has blended characters traits into one composite character for television must make it even more difficult when discussiing these things as a book reader with what show watchers use as reference to formulate theories..

I'm beginning to view the two as two separate entities. It is one of the main reasons for me holding off on finishing the books until after the season ended.

I hope that made sense..

Right. If you're referring the same interview that I saw, indeed D&D stated that they were correct in the lineage of Jon Snow. However, that does not indicate that we as show watchers aren't being led down a wrong path. Aegon being the big red flag. As Rhaegars first son is named as such and I find it insane that they would be so redundant especially given GRRMs fascination and detail with names.

The nights king in the books is a legend. He was the 13th lord commander of the nights watch where he supposedly took an Other as Queen and ruled at the now cursed dread fort. Bran the builder along with a willing Jormund put an end to his rule.

ETA: Nightfort, not dread fort. Oops.

Oh you should read the books, you will enjoy it so much more.

It's not that I am a book purist, or trying to upset show followers. I mean I have been supportive of the show since inception. But is has become terrible scripting period.
It makes it really hard on book followers who became fans of the show until the books separated, and bang they get a completely different story and characters.

I was able to run with the show's minor discrepancies that I didn't stress much over other than lady stone heart/Katlyn Stark but even then I wasn't too fussed about it.
But now, It's not even making sense to the show let alone the book.
So no I'm not being book purist only, Im just confused, frustrated and trying to make sense of all the gaps by the information I have read.

Hope that makes sense.

It makes all the sense in the world. And I didn't mean to imply you were a purist or book elitist or anything of that nature.
My whole point is I understand your frustration.

As far as the show;
I agree the last two seasons have definitely been glaring beacons to the inadequacies of the writing room.
Aside from a few scenes the quality of the interactions between characters has plummeted.

And by the way, congratulations on reaching 100 pages!

I think it's too late to change and add any type of high level plot detail with 6 episodes left. D&D have the outline of how the books end so there are going to be mostly similarities in my opinion and not huge differences.

It's very possible he's in the books as well since Martin made that comment about going further north than ever before. I guess maybe we'll see if he ever decides to write.

Aye. I couldn't argue either way where the show will take it. It has been explicitly said that the books and the show will end at the same place regardless of how they get there. You may very well be correct that the show may be as (IMO) asinine as dully portrayed. If the end result is the pinnacle and meaning of the whole story is lost however, why bother?

I do hope you'll pardon my pessimistic nature as of late. I've been drinking lots of koolaid and I may need help!

The Mance/Dayne theory doesn't work for me since Mance was a Night's Watch and people would have known who he was. Also, he is reported as being half Free Folk and brought to the Night's Watch at an early age.
