1 wonders if some hypothetically there were human eaters would perspectives change of other animals

Did you know that human beings actually KILL other animals to EAT them ? Don't you find that disgusting ? They even have built factories to INDUSTRIALISE the process of killing the other sentient animals and chop them in small portions that they pack in plastic. WOW. At first I didn't want to believe it but I have seen the proofs. It's 100% true. They eat dead corpses of animals that are made of exactly the same stuff as them, and almost every human being find that this is totally normal. They even encourage their own LITTLE CHILDREN to eat dead corpses of other sentient beings, imagine that... I mean, what do they have in mind ?? Can't they just think for one second ? I am truly out of words..

Umm... Not to point out the obvious or anything but take a good look in a mirror this morning. See those sharp pointy thingys on either side of your top front teeth? They're called Canine teeth and they're designed to bite, tear and devour meat. Our systems are not set up for eating plants. We're not herbivores, we're carnivores.

I have a question:
Do you know the definition of sentient vs. the definition of conscious? I think you mean conscious.
I don't eat dolphins or elephants or whales. Those, AFAICT, are the only other sentient beings on this ball o' mud.
Besides, whatever happened to my poor, sentient cabbage? Some &&$% ate it! The bastard!

Now we're getting into semantics. Sentience and consciousness are two very similar terms, and the term sentience arguably applies to many many more nonhuman animals than you are listing. The point is: Do they suffer? Do they feel pain? Do they feel joy? Can they be happy? Do they love? Do they have personalities? Do they remember? Can they think, even if at a rudimentary level? If the answer to most of these question is 'yes' -- whether you call it consciousness, sentience, or both -- then we are morally obliged to respect their interests. Only in cases where killing is necessary, like self-defense, should we be allowed to take the life from a nonhuman animal. .
