We eat mammals, our own kind. When you clean your turkey in the sink it feels just like your kid in the bath.
Boogers taste good to kids too, doesn't make it the food of choice to your body.
Ummm....If natural is bizarre then thus is our nature...It is also our nature to cause suffering and death each moment...simply by existing. Not one part of living...doesn't involve killing (I know, double negative redundancy)...This is the dilemma faced by every Buddhist and one of the most challengingly profound aspects of the meditative experiance...It's actually a very humanizing concept to accept one's nature through the realization that every moment of ones life causes death...it's very easy to rationalize that because the life form is small or creepy that for convienance sake, justification soothes the conscience.........But then...one realizes that "such is life" and life goes on. It's not really weird IMO, but it certainly is puzzling to say the least...But only in a philosophical sense.

OP brings up a good point for analysis... why are all you wild animals getting so defensive? Hes not asking you to stop eating meat... just to notice how bizarre it is that you do..
I think it is very weird... but I think the exception is that life is not immortal.. it dies... so instead of the dying things going into the soil to be used by plants... animals eat the dead things to get the banquet of nutrients directly.. animals have subsisted and evolved on the eating/recycling of each other... It is interesting how animals like cows and horses who are so strong and muscular eat mostly if not all diet vegetarian,, just massive amounts...
We treat them with zero respect. We don't breed them so they can live a life; we breed them so we can have meat whenever we want. We cut corners on their lives so we can live fat and confortable in ours. That is the travesty of the meat industry—treating animals as if they had no right to live, only the right to be our food.
Eat freshly hunted or free-range meat , or live with the fact that you have taken part in the mass imprisonment, suffering and slaughter of some of Earth's most precious animals.

Umm... Not to point out the obvious or anything but take a good look in a mirror this morning. See those sharp pointy thingys on either side of your top front teeth? They're called Canine teeth and they're designed to bite, tear and devour meat. Our systems are not set up for eating plants. We're not herbivores, we're carnivores.
I've never quite understood where the self loathing and disgust comes from but at least the OP here acknowledges the fact we are eating the parts of other animals. I've been amused a couple times to helpfully explain to a rather self-righteous person holding forth on anti-hunting or something.....just what happens to the big feathery turkey from truck to grocery store meat section. Having worked at a poultry kill plant for a brief time in my youth, I have tales to tell too...... Perfect for a Thanksgiving Dinner the in-laws have spoiled, for instance.
Anyway... I not only eat meat, I've been known to shoot, dress and stock my freezer with the poor little critter myself. Nothing like fresh, unadulterated and non-drugged up meat to last a few months. Yummy!
