Why the frig does the US insist on having guns given the hellish result of guns?

Gun deaths per 100,000 worldwide
America isn't even in the top ten.
2.98 per 100,000 actual homicides with a firearm. Far more suicides are committed with firearms than murders. Those 5.75 suicides per 100,000 with firearms would have happened whether they had a firearm or not. So you can effectively take those out of the statistics when looking at actual gun crime. 2.98 per 100,000 people. Not even 1 percent. Stop acting like america is full of monsters. Or that, while tragic, gun crime is even that big of a problem. More people drown every year then by homicide committed with a firearm. Should we ban water?
Now, it's true we have vastly more firearm related deaths a year than the UK. It's also true that we have five and a half times their population. How many knife deaths do they have a year? Perhaps they should ban knives.
My heart goes out to those affected by this terrible tragedy. This "debate" on guns is pointless.
On a per-capita basis, Yemen had the second most heavily armed citizenry behind the United States, with 61 guns per 100 people, followed by Finland with 56, Switzerland with 46, Iraq with 39 and Serbia with 38.
In 2007, the US had roughly 90 guns for every citizen. The article lists the next couple countries.

Math is your friend! look up populations per million; More people more killings; England is a spec of dirt in the North Atlantic.
Ok.
Murder rates
US murder rate is 4.2. The UK's is 1.2. What now?edit on 14-12-2012 by SpearMint because: (no reason given)

Comparing countries with different histories and culture is not sensible

Oh please yes we are and we are happy with our handgun ban.
The people asked for a handgun ban, no one took our guns away we gave them up because we feel we do not need handguns in our society.

No, otherwise every American would be a murderer, don't be ridiculous
Or are you being so ridiculous to say that every country has the same culture and history "LOL", the UK is comparable, for example, with, Liberia
"LOL"

we didn't really did we, as in tens of millions of people asking for a handgun ban- politicians did it, due to a media "outrcry"- I'm not debating the rights and wrongs of the ban, just stating that it was not something the "people" asked for

This is a general conspiracy.
And a question to all American ATS-ers.
Why the frig does the US insist on having guns given the hellish result of guns?
I live in the UK and I am horrified by mass gun killings and the USA breeds them.
Why doesn't the USA ban guns?
That is the BIG CONSPIRACY I am harking too.
Your black president cries but allows gun laws to continue.
What gives USA?
