We are going to have to come together to take meaningful action To prevent more tragedies like this....Obama.
It does sound to me he wants to do something about gun laws.

Thank you for the link, and yes it does and we all know where Mr. Obama stands on gun control.
So they will probably use this as a catalyst, sad.

Just like Prohibition created the Mafia, banning guns will create another Mafia to sell illegal guns. It is a certainty. I don't think we need AK47's etc but we do need handguns/hunting rifles and shotguns. There will be a lot of dead people on our highways if the deer population is not controlled through hunting. Not to mention they fill a lot of freezers with needed food.

Apparently you're the half-wit because you didn't notice the part of my post where I mentioned the revolution we so desperately need. You know, REPLACING the government. Save your ignorant ad-hominem attacks. A. They don't hurt my feelings. B. You're wrong. C. They're against forum T & C.

Seriously? If you knew anything about me OR my posting history you would know I am no fan of the US government. What I AM a fan of is the Constitution. Which gives us the right to protect ourselves from the tyranny of our government.

Freedom isn't free and liberty isn't safe. If you were "more free" than the US you'd have guns.

Three years ago it was about 2 am and I had stopped at a convenience store for cigs. I could see from outside the cashier being beaten by two thugs before I could call the police they had seen me and were coming outside everything happened in what seemed like seconds but I wound up shooting one of them in the leg before they took off. The gun I had was just a little 380 and the police found 9mm casings from where they fired at me but the cashier lived and so did I. The police caught one of the thugs 5 days later robing another place and he turned in the guy I shot.

Two things I did after that day. One I bought a laser sight for the 380 and two I make sure I have it loaded with hollow points.

Taking guns away from lawful citizens isn’t going to go over well as long as criminals have guns that is how I see it.

We all know how the Potus stands on gun control without looking at the facts or evidence just because a piece of paper says you have a right- uh no you don't have a right the general rule.

Get rid of the guns and the lunatics will use knives.
Get rid of the knives and the cowards will use bombs.
Get rid of the bombs and maniacs will use bows and arrows.

Every single one of these weapons are regulated and restricted to some extent in their respective areas, and yet tragedies like this still happen and will continue to happen. And not only at schools.

The weapons are not to blame, and enacting bans and safety zones will never prevent future ones. Otherwise we'd only have to read about these terrible events in history books instead of the daily news.

Well bombs are already banned so I don’t really think that they apply to this argument. Knifes and bow and arrows though may apply however I don’t remember the last time we had almost 20 dead kids on our TV as the result of a bow and arrow attack.

Yes a black market will proliferate with higher prices for both guns and ammo the result - plus felony laws against possession of same (how well is the drug war going btw?).

a car accident is not premeditated homicide. cars do more than kill. guns don't. that's what they're for.

Voting doesn't replace the government. Voting replenishes the government with more of the same. Unless we can vote to replace everyone currently serving in Washington who is in the pocket of special interests. Voting doesn't achieve anything.

Reading comprehension is lacking. Where did I say I was going to "take up arms to OVERTHROW the government"? (Sidenote: I thought Brits were good with the Queen's English?) I don't own any guns. However, I'm certainly grateful that many of my family members and neighbors do. Because when the government goes too far, as it inevitably will, it will be the people with guns who are defending those without guns from tyranny.

Why do Americans have this odd paranoia about their government what do you mean when they go too far.

200 years ago I could see the point, but now not so much…..

Really what do you think is going to happen if they take your guns, the following week they will put every American into a FEMA camp to work as slaves of the illuminati…

An armed population is a population protected from a tyranical government.

There are arguments for 2nd amendment. This protection from a tyrannical government isn't one of them. Armed citizens aren't going to stop any tyranny. Just look at the state of US at the moment. Completely facista and tyrannical and armed citizens aren't doing anything to slow them down.

Not without a blood bath. Remember Viet Nam? Passionate people that feel strongly about their liberties can accomplish much with much less than you think. (The David vs. Goliath analogy.)

It's not that Americans are paranoid about their government. We just keep a close eye on them and TRY to stay one step ahead....just in case.

Why do Americans have paranoia about our government? Have you been to this site before? Seriously, you are kidding right? I'm not even going to dignify that with a response. However, I will say that your knee-jerk reactionary hyperbole aside: the name of the game in oppression these days is incrementalism. Of course they won't throw us in camps the week after they take our guns. That's probably scheduled for 50 or 100 years after they take our guns.

That you did, I knew what I was letting myself in for though but it’s nice to know I am not the only one who feels strongly about this.

Exactly! As our founding fathers intended:

"Firearms stand next in importance to the constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence … from the hour the Pilgrims landed to the present day, events, occurences and tendencies prove that to ensure peace security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable … the very atmosphere of firearms anywhere restrains evil interference — they deserve a place of honor with all that's good."

George Washington

"The supposed quietude of a good man allures the ruffian; while on the other hand arms, like laws, discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as property. The same balance would be preserved were all the world destitute of arms, for all would be alike; but since some will not, others dare not lay them aside … Horrid mischief would ensue were the law-abiding deprived of the use of them."

Thomas Paine

"To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them."

Richard Henry Lee
