Because its not just one, we have seen several of these types of shootings in the past year, something needs to be done or are Americans quite happy to see news stories like this every other month.

I tried telling them the same thing and they won't listen, they believe that if they can own guns they will shoot the shooters, which blatantly hasn't happened over the recent shootings.

So get ready to face a whole bunch of cowboys.

Schools are gun-free zones.....hmmmm.....so we would have been shooting back, but we were too busy obeying our anti-gun law.

I'm sure you were already replied to but one more thing. There is currently a world-wide ban on killing, yet people still kill. Who knew that if something was against the law, people would still do it regardless?

But no, continue talking and bringing up other points to ignore what fact I stated above. Pull heartstrings and make strawmen, because facing facts can't allow you to make the snide remark you want to make.

I do not hide the fact that in Brittan we have a problem with crime, but we only have 50 or so murders a year that are gun related, America has over 8000.

The gun restrictions will start soon. Obama during press confrence "we have gone through this too many times. We must take decisive action".

Hold on to your hats. And kiss the second amendment goodbye. The sheep are about to be disarmed.

The wolves will not be.

So everyone should be held accountable for a few loose cannons? I see cops shooting people on a regular basis on the news, should they give up their guns also?

the local news tonight, (friday 6PM EDT) reported that there have been 4 killing events at schools since 1927 which was a bombing that slaughtered 45 students/children/school personnel

all the killing events, including the 27 today at Newtown CT , totaled 88 souls

i say that getting Gestapo tactics on guns-magazines-ammo is completely off base...

what should be done is to 'safeguard the school zone' even to the point of walling up the sanctuary, having armed guards & escorting all outsiders on the premisis.... the fault lies with the lax security that comes from the idyllic, rose-colored glasses idealism & worldview of all the population,,,a bunch of leftists/dreamers/affirmitive activists/et al

disney world has more un-observed security than schools or other public service places

put a fence around all schools immediately...instead of having them as unsecure as the southern border that actually allows the passage of untold illegal immigrants every hour...
a gated entrance, with a type of military post security arrangement would work for starters---
then we should station a permanent force of trained TSA security checkpoint inspectors to frisk anyone that even bumps the security fence accidently...

let the DHS do their job.... the only thing that could ever happen to a secure school venue is that a army of terrorist storm the place or a rogue creep with a RPG would attack the school full of children

?? too many tmes... recall the earlier report of 4 incidents simce 1927 & included only 88 kids/students
the populist-socialist-progressive CIC is fogging the issue with gut-wrentching emotional junk
'

we gotta keep our guns to possibly snuff this type of guy from accomplishing his/their unholy task

the OP premise reeks of
OBEY THE REGIME
and actually makes me think of the 'staged' false flag attack by a MK Ultra patsy
so that draconic gun consification can be implemented without a whimper from the sheeple

Errrr... 58 page study by the Cato Institute shows thousands of crimes/criminals stopped by law-abiding U.S. gun owners

"The defensive use of guns happens much more often than most people realize," and, "Each year gun owners prevent a great deal of criminal mayhem – murders, rapes, batteries, and robberies."

Rubbish!
I live in a state where every law-abiding citizen has the right to carry a concealed weapon, even without a permit. Many people here choose to exercise that right. In fact, it's the COWBOY state. Do you know how many murders we had in 2010? Go ahead, take a guess... I can assure you , it will be way off. OK, so how many murders did we have in 2010?
8...
That's 1.4 murders per 100,000 inhabitants, and not even those small numbers all involved firearms, so lay off the "cowboys".
Here's a link to back up my numbers:
Link

In fact, our town just had a terrible double-murder and suicide at the local college, know what the killer used?
A compound bow and a hunting knife.
Link to story:
Story
So, should we ban compound bows and hunting knives too?
One fact stands out and screams for attention though, know what both the person I mention and today's shooter had in common?
Aspergers syndrome.

I really don't know what to attribute our low murder rate to, maybe it's the fact that we're not all crammed together like rats in a cage. Maybe it's the fact that so many people here ARE armed, or maybe it's just that we respect the value of human life. That one, I don't have the answer to.

I've been through the gun ban in Australia and I can see this coming to America the same way it did here....swiftly. Gun laws haven't stopped the "bad guys" in Aust from procuring semi automatic rifles...banning them meant the "good guys" handed them in while the the others buried them.

Anyway I want to get to the bigger issue I see here. I'm not sure on the history of the ammendments in the USA, but have they ever been altered in the past. If I was living in the USA I would be worried that if the 2nd ammendment was to be altered, would more be altered, what would happen to my rights??

Also I think it would seriously divide the country into pro and anti gun....right now we are discussing the issue, but wait until the something actually happens and people have to hand their guns in. In Australia people now look down on you in some respects if you own a gun....and we never had the 2nd down here. So I can only imagine how its going to divide the USA.

So here I am sitting watching the news, I see a young boy talking about how he “saw and heard” the bullets of a gun man. The headline below this innocent child’s face reads “27 people killed in Connecticut shooting, 18 children”.

I am not to beat about the bush hear but as a British guy looking in on this I am shocked, there have been more of these type of mass shootings this year than I can count. Every month I am seeing some state governor passing on his heartfelt condolences to the families of the dead.

How about this instead America rather than having your leaders “apologise” to all the dead families how about you do this? Get out of the Wild West and the 18th century and BAN THE GUN!!! You are not cowboys anymore, you are not John Rambo the British are not about to invade you.

For the “guns don’t kill people, people do”, stop hiding behind an old cliché, if you lot bothered with proper gun control I would not be watching this disturbing story.

To be clear, I am not saying ban all guns or ban the gun overnight, what I am saying is that you lot need to grow up and some proper gun regulation. You need gun reform, it’s very simple, none of you gun enthusiasts needs 40 guns with 1200 rounds of ammunition.

Stop hiding behind that ancient bit of paper, your constitution, you all need to grow a set and sort out your gun problem before you have anoter 18 dead kids, who knows next time it could be one of yours, I pray it is not and i pray for the families of those affected

It is a tragedy of that there is no doubt. But a gun enthusiast did not commit this heinous crime. The only irresponsible gun owner is a criminal.

What I write now may sound cruel but people die old and young. Until all weapons are finally gone, no person has the right to tell another person what they can or cannot own.

Yes, because banning things really works well to prevent their use.

Just look at the wonderful success we've had banning coc aine, heroin, meth, and other various drugs on the "Controlled Substance" list.

Banning guns will not prevent violent crime in the slightest...

It's only worked in every other country in teh world. Keep your head in the sand.

After you get rid of the guns then what? Get rid of the knives? Then cars and baseball bats. Objects don't kill the people that are using them does the killing.
