Its not more horrible than a drone attack,killing moms and kiddies in some far-flung corner of the world.It is not.Americans though,do not as a rule get struck this close to home,at the youngest of their young,so the shock and grief hits with the force of the tactical nuke.I was mailing a friend in Denver,and i reminded her of the school siege in Russia,wherein many little children got killed too.After all this time,that horror still brings me to tears when i think about it.My heart is for the most innocent and pure,the most vulnerable and defenseless everywhere,as the Palestinian or Pakistani kiddies,the youngest victims of the crime+ genocide in my own country,etc..the list is endless.All that purity and potential,its something so deeply sad,for me,each of these slayings i come to know of,hurts on a deep personal level,a pain that never really goes away.I think thats one of the reas a lot of folks are on anti-depressants,or just feel so chronically unhappy,sometimes without anything specific in their own lives they can pinpoint it to-This,imo is one of the causes-these things you can not UNknow,however much you wish you could.

Just to clarify (again) for anyone who may be wondering, we're trying to cut down on the tedious and irrelevant political trolling and focus on the actual topic, which is the mass murder that took place in Newtown, Connecticut on Friday.

As inevitable as it is for gun control debates and political opportunism to intrude upon the subject, they have already been done to death here and in our political forums, and distract from the actual facts of the case, which are still largely indeterminate.

That will necessarily involve speculation that some people may find distasteful, but provided such speculation doesn't violate the terms & conditions, it's valid.

We have repeatedly asked that the discussion focus on the actual shooting, rather than recycled talking points, insults, sanctimonious finger-pointing, trolling and other forms of noise that don't bear on this particular crime. We have also asked that members refrain from spamming material unrelated to the subject, including rhetorical questions and comments made in obvious ignorance of the topic itself. Hence post removals and other actions as needed.

It's a fine line to walk, opinions will naturally vary regarding what belongs and what doesn't, and the thread sometimes moves very, very fast. In general, if a post doesn't involve insults, baiting, or other attempts to smother this tragedy under a blanket of write-only flames, it's probably fine. If not, we may remove it, but ask that members not take it personally if we do.

If anyone disagrees with our attempts to keep the thread focused and away from page after page of senseless political drivel, by all means send me a private message and I'll be happy to talk about it, but we do ask -- again -- that members do their best to focus on the circumstances of the crime, stay on topic and save the other stuff for other threads.

i have inside info about this thing, the school is pissing distance from me and i have a source employed in the school in question being told to not talk to anyone about what they know. if you dont want to hear the details then you obviously arent interested in the truth

People keep questioning the motive in this tragedy and it seems pretty simple to me:

The young man felt like his mother loved those kids more than him.

There is a report showing a neighbor(that I cannot find now with the ever-scrolling updates) suggesting that his mother was one to have high expectations and possibly overly demanding. He lived with her and likely had to hear the daily stories of the kids and their antics. Maybe artwork on the fridge from her students. Perhaps she even went as far as to compare how sweet some of them were unlike he was at their age. She adored them(or some of them) and therefore the children were a competition for her affection.

But, it's poor mental health that leads a person to feel this way. Many of us hear that negative voice telling us that "nobody loves me" when we're deep in the blues, but most of us get through that often by realizing that such self pity is not the way to handle our woes and that it doesn't do any good to stay in that frame of mind. When a person is truly not mentally healthy, that realization doesn't come and sometimes breeds the worst of all humanity by letting that self pity become rage and jealousy. He needed help and didn't get it and likely didn't want it either. He was alone with his pain and anger until it exploded, affecting countless lives in the process.

I just want to know why you come here to "post the truth" since you're in the know.. anytime there is a major media frenzy people are told not to really talk to the media there is a number of valid reasons for this.. to protect those who were killed today... to protect their families from further harm ... to not cause mass confusion as anytime 2 people view the same event you will have 2 stories and most of the time they are not the same... there is a reason for why the police caution people not to talk to the media for their 5 seconds on the nightly news... but please do tell me this truth you registered to tell me since it's that important to you.

My understanding is that she was a teacher's aide, but that's just based on the countless reports that she was involved with the school. I've read that she was involved with the school and got the teacher's aide "fact" from the radio. That certainly would muck my theory up if she was, in fact, not connected to the kids somehow, but apparently that fact is not conclusive yet.

I think people just need to accept that this was a troubled man, nothing more, no conspiracies.

A few of you have reiterated that this may be a form of setup by the government. Let me tell you - if the government were desperate to disarm you - they would. More importantly they would do so without the need for meaningless deaths of young innocent children.

Well thats a big assumption.. not that i'm arguing.. i have no idea whether she did or not or if he randomly picked a place and said .. ohhh there's a good spot... however many people in this country commute 1.5 even 2 hours to work .. it's not unheard of esp in this economic landscape.. so you just never know.
