Are you dumb enough to believe anyone could defend this senseless killing ?
Liberal or Muslim, nobody can defend such atrocity.
Again, it's not about Islam, it's cultural mostly. (try to get that in your insignificant little mind)

Those parents certainly do defend this killing as well as people who commit thousands of other honor killings in that region. Where do they get their "cultural sense" of right and wrong? They get it from the extremist views of Islam's darker factions. How could this not be about Islam? It is exactly about Islam.. just as the Christian religions have the regular and the fundamentalist.
You can't absolve Islam of it's responsibility in this mess.
Tahira Shaid Khan, a professor of women's issues at Aga Khan University, notes that there is nothing in the Qur'an that permits or sanctions honor killings.[22] The first and most basic right in the Qur'an that every Muslim is expected to follow is, in fact, the right to life.[23] As written in the Qur'an,
According to University of Toronto professor of women's studies Shahrzad Mojab, followers of Hinduism, Islam, Judaism and Christianity have used their religions as a rationale to commit honour killings. She said that honor killings don't have "any definite connection with religion at all", and that honor killing had been practised before any major religion came into existence.[
Widney Brown, the advocacy director of Human Rights Watch, said that the practice "goes across cultures and across religions." Human rights advocates have compared "honor killing" to "crimes of passion" in Latin America (which are sometimes treated extremely leniently) and also to the killing of women for lack of dowry in India.
So my question is, how do the liberal left at ATS defend this barbaric act and the peace loving muslims ?
It's always seemed to me that acid attacks are rather common with Muslims compared to other groups. Is it a cultural thing? Is it symbolic of something?
When will World be civilized in every corner ? This is from stone-age call it honor.
And another thing for all of you who say what has religion got to do with this, honour killing is part of pakistani Islamic culture.
Wow! Have we not evolved beyond our Cave Man ways? Beyond pathetic. I find it hard to believe anyone or any religion could justify this. Life has no value over there. Complete barbarians it would seem.

Although Sikhs and Hindus do sometimes commit such murders, honor killings, both worldwide and in the West, are mainly Muslim-on-Muslim crimes. In this study, worldwide, 91 percent of perpetrators were Muslims. In North America, most killers (84 percent) were Muslims, with only a few Sikhs and even fewer Hindus perpetrating honor killings; in Europe, Muslims comprised an even larger majority at 96 percent while Sikhs were a tiny percentage. In Muslim countries, obviously almost all the perpetrators were Muslims.

Obviously all Muslims are not guilty of honour killings but 91% of all honour killers are Muslims.

That's like saying not all men are serial killers, but the vast majority of serial killers are men. Do we blame all men for serial killing?

Religion is a subset of culture, religion and culture are deeply intertwined, especially in middle east. This is not only a cultural issue. These people get their morality to a large degree from crazy muslim clerics who have authority from Allah. Fornication is wrong because Allah says so. This is the religious basis for persecution of fornicators and adulterers by muslims.
