It is not really Egyptian people who are calling for destruction of Pyramids, but some extremist, probably the same one that would love to see us destroyed as well. I hope that normal people will prevail in Muslim world, and demonstrations in Afghanistan regarding Taliban killing of a women are telling me that people had it enough.

One thing that more worries me then those extremist group is US destroying the planet. With all oil exploration, offshore drilling, mining, cars, mostly uncontrolled emission of chemical by large corporations, we are bigger danger to ourselves then those extremists.

Well, if this was a hoax, then I'd call it the mother of all screw ups and pooch screws the world has ever seen from a bad sense of humor. From what some news has been looking like, they heard the 'hoax' just fine over there too and darned if some don't think it's a fine idea anyway, now that someone mentions it. If this STARTED as nothing but a hoax, it may still end up with rubble.

Yeah, we might find out whats deep inside chambers or underneath it alright. Secondary explosions may go on for weeks or give a real large portion of Egypt a real bad day. It's exceptionally unwise, in my view, to go blasting into places we only know are ancient in a way that's hard to imagine (These were very very old when Jesus was walking around), aligned perfectly in some magnetic and astronomic terms, suggesting more than a primitive technology level and what has already been discovered in terms of strong efforts to resist being broken into. I don't expect radical Islamists with a head for the 16th century as a daily life to consider such topics, but there could be some surprises in there from so many thousands of years ago. Many reasons to protect and be cautious with that very specific site, in my view.

Perhaps they are just trying to garner attention, like many other groups. How stupid are you to say you'll do something, so that they can make sure to safeguard the place?

LOL. What are they going to destroy them with? It's not easy to just tear down several million tons of solid rock. One of three things will happen:

A) They'll get tired and quit trying.
B) They'll tear it down piece by piece and whatever the pyramid's truly are will stop them somehow.
C) They'll tear it down and bankrupt their entire civilization over night...it'll be a multi-decade commitment to really knock 'em down.

I'm not sure folks appreciate how BIG that was in Afghanistan. There were good reasons people at the time said they were too big for the Taliban to obliterate, but you saw it right there in video. I'm sure the explosives it took set records for a one shot blast of the whole thing. What total obscenity. Animals... The specific ones who did this, that's all I can say for them.

The Pyramids would take many shots, I'm sure. Dozens probably, with clearing in between. It would be quite an endeavor with conventional explosives and drills, but there is absolutely no physical barrier to getting the job done. It's all simply quantity of explosive and time. Imagine the entire mountain tops of solid rock that are basically blown apart and driven off as mines. It's absolutely doable...if the world would allow it.

By the way, a google search showed new calls for the Pyramids being destroyed and new stories coming as recently as a couple hours ago. Ugh..... Seems a lot suddenly think it's not such a bad idea.

So, are they only going to destroy the 3 most popular pyramids or are they gonna destroy all of the Egyptian pyramids. There are literally thousands of them scattered throughout the Egyptian badlands, recently discovered using satellite imagery. Are they gonna stop in Egypt? What about the pyramids in South America? Las Vegas? Whats next? The Sistine Chapel?

I'm gonna toss this one in my bogus bin. They are not gonna destroy anything but their own reputations.

There seems to be as much reporting in the last few hours that it's a hoax as others during this same time period, reporting new stories saying it's not. I dunno... (shrugs shoulders) I DO believe the radical Islamists see anything not of or by Islam or for Islam as being expendable at best and Idolatry at worst. Hence....a couple pieces of world heritage no longer exist and that was the reasoning.

I'm not personally sure at the moment what is propaganda over there and what isn't. With war possibly on the close horizon, the bogus reporting machines must be coming up to full speed on all sides.
