They don't need to demolish them. Egyptologists already ruined them anyway with disinformation and misinformation. Your average person now just thinks they're big blocks in the desert.

Besides the obvious stupidity of destroying a landmark / world treasure .. Why would they consider destroying one of their largest tourist attractions? .. When anyone thinks of Egypt, the first thing they think of are the pyramids..
What is Egypt without it's icon? just another rich middle eastern country... I can't imagine the people of Egypt would stand for that... they are a symbol of pride for the country..

Egypt is not rich, actually it is poor country with many social and economic problems.
Source of article is not credible, and people calling for destruction of Pyramids according to article are not Egyptians at all.

I swear to god, allah, whoever, that if these mutts start tearing down the Pyramids I'll go there myself and start taking people out.
The Pyramids don't belong to a single country or culture, they belong to us as a SPECIES, they are part of our collective inheritance. That's the way I see it, at least. The ownership of such awe-inspiring monuments from deep history shouldn't be passed around like the deed to a warehouse complex. Once they are gone, they are gone, forever. Never to be seen again for the billions upon billions of years this universe will exist.
I'm incredibly sick and tired of religious zealots. They are responsible for such a massive destruction of our history as a species that I don't think we'll ever know the full extent of it. And to think such destruction is STILL happening in today's world makes me more angry than I prefer to be.

Clearly, judging by the responses to this thread, there are many people who disagree with you and actually care about the pyramids.

Re "as far as the Pyramids, i believe they are protected as a World Heritage site "
As if the crazy muzzies will respect something like that. They only know three things. Destroy, destroy, destroy

If Muslims as a whole descrated the pyramids to the point of demolition, they would probably never survive the worldwide backlash that would result.
Are you kidding? If extremists destroyed the pyramids, there would be non-muslim apologists for Islam running around saying that it was somehow the fault of the rest of the world that the nutz blew up the pyramids. Political Correctness ... it would happen.

The reality is, you've got a better chance finding a porno starring Mother Theresa and Al Sharpton than you do seeing the Pyramids destroyed . . . just a bunch of radicals shooting off their pie holes trying to get a rise out of everyone in a 'notice me' kinda way.
Let them shout and dance circles around an empty goat's skull until they get all tired of nobody listening and they dizzy themselves out in true hyperventilationist fashion.

I guess few are aware the Great Pyramid is made of quite a few blocks (say 1 million), each being 2 metric tons of solid limestone. It won't be coming down any time soon.
If filled, the [Three-Gorge reservoir of China] would hold 40 cubic kilometers (10 trillion gallons) of water. That shift of mass would increase the length of day by only 0.06 microseconds and make the Earth only very slightly more round in the middle and flat on the top. It would shift the pole position by about two centimeters (0.8 inch). Raising 39 trillion kilograms of water 175 meters above sea level will increase the Earth’s moment of inertia and thus slow its rotation.

I wanted to call attention to this article that my partner and I came across this morning. The idea of this makes me SICK. This cannot happen. How could this even be proposed? I'm not sure of the validity of this source but I wanted to post it here for some healthy debate on this. What do you think??
Calls my Islamists to Destroy Egyptian Pyramids begin
Accordingly, while many Egyptians—Muslims and non-Muslims alike—see themselves as Egyptians, Islamists have no national identity, identifying only with Islam’s “culture,” based on the “sunna” of the prophet and Islam’s language, Arabic. This sentiment was clearly reflected when the former Leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, Muhammad Akef, declared “the hell with Egypt,” indicating that the interests of his country are secondary to Islam’s. It is further telling that such calls are being made now—immediately after a Muslim Brotherhood member became Egypt’s president. In fact, the same reports discussing the call to demolish the last of the Seven Wonders of the Word, also note that Egyptian Salafis are calling on Morsi to banish all Shias and Baha’is from Egypt.
