I was mostly referring to those ruling the country.. the government, I know that 20-30% of the population is below the poverty line

The Pyramids don't belong to a single country or culture, they belong to us as a SPECIES, they are part of our collective inheritance. That's the way I see it, at least. The ownership of such awe-inspiring monuments from deep history shouldn't be passed around like the deed to a warehouse complex. Once they are gone, they are gone, forever. Never to be seen again for the billions upon billions of years this universe will exist.

BTW, it's not the new Egyptian government that is suggesting this should happen, it's the former leader of their party who was removed from post for being too radical.

I'll guarantee they want it destroyed because sooner or later people are going to find out who really built them and then they will lose all faith in Allah.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Let's assume for a moment they had those bad intentions towards the Pyramids....could we however possibly imagine that any of the biggest construction company's of this world could 'dismantle' this amazing artifact??
I really doubt so, and for those who now say they may try bombing it (oh did i really say that word just now)....that would take many mega tons of material and quite impossible to pulverize it...unless of course you prepare Nano-Engineered Thermitic Pyrotechnic charges at every each of the 2.6 million stone blocks then I would think one more time....

Hope you got my point...or is David Copperfield now also working for extremists?

I don't like the way some people in Egypt are taking their new leadership. It's also highly suspect that the Muslim Brotherhood, the same one that was inspired by Hitler and Nazi ideology is going down this radical path. I hoped that it wouldn't , but it looks like they will.

However considering the historical impact western/european influence has had on the middle east starting with Hitler, I also suspect that perhaps the Muslim Brotherhood is being encouraged to radicalism via covert western influence (spies, CIA, M-I6, etc.) to start a final conflict between the united Islamic middle east , and western powers (europe, north america)

Well for the film to star both Al Sharpton and Mother Theresa it would have to have been filmed before Aug 1997 when Mother Theresa passed away. What did Al Sharpton look like in '97 ? I think he was the chubby Al back then. Still had that pretty hair though !

Why do some people seem to think that a simple missel would not do the job of taking down the pyramid ? What do those folks think these things are made from ? Its rock without mortar, a pile of artfully laid stones. I think one bunker busting missel would finish these off in no time. Tell me where I am wrong with this thought. Not that I would for a minute want to see this happen, I dont get the posts that say we dont have the technology to take them down when we certainly do and in quick order too.

I did a search on this article, and all I can find are other articles that lead back to Raymond Ibrahim's piece in Frontpagemag, which isn't the most balanced of sites.

The article did link sources for many of its statements, but, not it's initial and primary one - that the Arabic media is reporting that notable clerics are calling for the destruction of the pyramids.

So I'm a little cautious about this report until I can find out more. It feels like a manipulation of sorts.

They will not begin to know the horrors they will face if they bring this type of harm to Egypt's Great Pyramids!

Shocking but facts need to be clarified when statements like this are put in the article:

And the article itself is suspicious at best, as someone mentioned the title does not portray the contents of what is being published (but then that was probably intentional sensationalism).

No, these people are no prominent, if they were the rest of the majority Muslim collective would not call them things like "Wahabis", a term applied to most Arab Clerics (who seem hell bent on believing the rest of the world is evil).

These literalistic zealots will see the world as black and white hence why they are calling for such things but don't forget these are the same people who are also stating certain Islamic religious sites and historical artefacts should be destroyed because of their literalistic view of everything in Islam.

Lazy journalists don't bother differentiating fact from fiction anymore, instead more than happy to label everything as one or the other, like calling everyone who is not white "Black", tarnishing them with an unobjectionable narrow minded view.

No doubt someone is going to use this as an excuse to come out with a statement like "lets liberate Egypt from those pesky Islamists because they want to destroy the pyramids"...really?

This site is about denying ignorance so lets try and do that for once.
