The world should be protective of the pyramids. They are a part of the history of mankind not just Eygpt. Do we destroy any Roman roads we may uncover during modern construction? Do we tear down the remains of the aquaducts or the Parthanon ? I know lets tear down the Coloseum while we're at it and hey there's that wall in China that probably could use replacing as it is getting pretty old. Rediculous to think these structures hold any religious power any longer. The world does not practice the religion of the ancient Eygptians, and those gods have fallen out of favor. The power of any religious monument is in the minds of the people not in the physical structure which is only stone.

Anyone bothered to see the source is David Horowitz of FrontPage Magazine, the darling of neo nazis if he wasn't Jewish

He spouts the evil of islam, the evil of the left, and their evil intersection. The guy is kinda bonkers

The destruction of the majority of Egypts past lies with the plundering by the west since the 19th century. Did you know that tens of thousands of mummies we destroyed by being ground down into a powder for a wellbeing elixir to be drunk?

A Bahraini -not Ehyptian - nutjob may have spouted it, but I am comfortable that the majority of Egyptians would not damage them.

You never know, human lunacy never ceases to amaze me, but in this instance I think our right wing extremist friend has gotten everyone's knickers in a knot for propaganda.

No, it's from Jerusalem Post: www.jpost.com...

"The pharaonic culture is a rotten culture," A-Shahhat told the London-based Arabic daily A-Sharq Al-Awsat on Wednesday, saying the faces of ancient statues "should be covered with wax, since they are religiously forbidden." He likened the Egyptian relics to the idols which circled the walls of Mecca in pre-Islamic times.

Well, not sure about the source, so won't get all enraged.
On principle though, the second a single person takes a step towards the pyramids with anything bigger than a firecracker is the moment the international community go old school and simple conquor egypt. The pyramids are greater than any political climate, or even generation of people. Cannot let the legacy of human history be destroyed by a religion, a political meme, or any other agenda.

By international community you mean USA, NATO or UN?

Question is, with UN unable to do much in any conflict, do we still need that broken well corrupted organization?

You may be right
But I am always guarded against islamic extremism.

Anything starting up in the middle east that discusses destruction of history is often met with high praise by the fanatics..and the fanatics tend to hold more power than the common person whom doesn't want to get shot.

UN can chastise, and nato can bomb..then US can put a McDonalds in the pyramids. Whatever works.

I like the concept of the UN. I think it will work one day once we sort out society a bit more...I see its token principle and theory sound..we are just not mature enough as a world for such unification..but its a start.

Number 1, Good #ing Luck. LOL. There are called monuments for a reason. They are the size of actual mountains, and made of millions of solid granite blocks. It would take half there militarys fire power to bring one down. And we would nuke there ass's by then. I would.

Number 2, if this is too be true, which i highly doubt. It would make everyone hate muslims. Oh how perfect. Just as the Crusades are begining again...

Even if this is true there would be continental uproar about it and how did your partner come across this?

Let's just hope that our survival is not depending on incapable UN.

Organization where everyone should be the same, but it is not, as we have countries with veto, that is unable to do anything to stop for instance war in Syria. There is a slim chance that concept will ever work.

It is start in wrong direction, that is made more to support will of strongest world nations and give them complete domination over rest of the world. Not very good theory.

As for Egypt being bombed because some extremist might try to destroy pyramids, makes perfect sense, after attacking Afghanistan and Iraq in retaliation to 9/11 attacks.

You're kidding, right?

Well guys because the Islamists suggested they should blow up the pyramids it seems they have face the wrath of the Egyptian Gods Ra and Anubis by doing this

Well, the UNs overall symbol I guess I should say..a united world. It will happen, it must happen. I don't know if the current form UN will actually be that organization with power and the actual will to bring upon unification, but some organization with all people represented will happen..the league of nations started it, UN continues, and perhaps some new reformation will happen in the future with a clear charter for power, punishment, and where their rights start and nations end that is agreed upon by all nations...

Can the UN fill this role? perhaps not..not as it is now...the question is does the world scrap it and start over, or fix what is?

As far as bombing all of egypt for the actions of some. Well no, I am not in favor of that..unless the actions of some are some of the politicians the people of egypt elected and it is a movement supported by the majority of egyptians whom voted for such things...in which case, unleash the dogs of war

I would be in favor of a strong military presence though around the pyramids and other monument areas, and the world consider it a world monument verses an egyptian monument..to be protected by the collective world forces from any nation..(many other monuments around the world should be seen like that..for instance, great wall of china, The vatican, Taj Mahal, Chichen Itza, etc) and any nation or group wanting to destroy a world wonder is ultimately declaring war on the world or something equally sharp.

bruuuhg! what to do? while I hate the idea of any government destroying historical wonders within their county I am reserved on treading on the national sovereignty of another nation.

This interantional nannyism has got to stop some where.....

The US surly would consider it an act of international terrorism and claim eminent domain and invade; secure and protect the pyramids.

this is the problem with extremism of any kind .... the problem it is most often related with religious beliefs.

They don't need to demolish them. Egyptologists already ruined them anyway with disinformation and misinformation. Your average person now just thinks they're big blocks in the desert.

Besides the obvious stupidity of destroying a landmark / world treasure .. Why would they consider destroying one of their largest tourist attractions? .. When anyone thinks of Egypt, the first thing they think of are the pyramids..

What is Egypt without it's icon? just another rich middle eastern country... I can't imagine the people of Egypt would stand for that... they are a symbol of pride for the country..

Please watch this video and let me would you bomb that nation, as government at the time was elected and it is still elected by people living in that nation?

Aaron Huey: America's native prisoners of war

We should start from our home first, clean that up.

I would not be interested to visit Pyramids that are surrounded with army presence. For some reason, picture of Israel comes into mind, when I think about that. (high fence and military surrounding it)

Egyptian people should take care of it, were taking care of it for centuries. As I said earlier, western army is actually one that destroyed part of it while using it as target practice. What would army of today to - scary to think about it...
