There is no such thing as "radical" Islam. In the Quran it actually states that Islam should wage war against all non-believers and that once a land falls to Islam (conquered) it must forever remain Islamic.

This is really getting old. Aisha was six when the Prophet married her, but he waited 3 years to consummate the marriage. If he was a true Paedophile, why would he wait three years? I'd imagine a Paedophile wouldn't be able to. Yes, there is an issue over whether it was the right thing to do and all that other stuff, but we're looking at things from the 21st century. At the time, I'd imagine it was the cultural norm to do such things at puberty/menstruation, and yes it was practiced in Europe and America too. In medieval Europe, there were recorded marriages of 2-3 year olds! In the good old US of A, the age of consent was around 10 with it being only 7 in Delaware. This was only around 130 years ago.

Saying the Prophet was a Paedophile is disgusting. Judgement is based on perspective. I would suggest that you do less judging.

I'll start at the beginning.
The cultures which aren't barbaric when compared to the more extreme cultures are the likes of Turkey, the north African countries such as Morocco, Tunisia etc. Far eastern ones like Indonesia etc.

I do have a fair amount of experience with Islamic culture, in the extreme I might add, as I lived in the Eastern Province of Saudi for a number of years. Which at the time was controlled by Shi'ite muslims. I am still alive though and possess all of my original limbs LOL.

I'm definitely not asserting that I know what the truth is, I don't believe any one knows now or indeed ever did. Or in fact whether there IS a truth.

Apologies if you think I was trying to label you, I wasn't. I just don't particularly enjoy being labelled as anything because I don't "believe".

Again, I apologise if you think I was singling you out on the hate front, I certainly wasn't directing this at you as an individual. It was a generalisation towards those who seem predisposed to hate and using their religions as an excuse.

I'm not trying to be antagonistic but rather I get annoyed when I see so many people walking around with their blinkers on, refusing to acknowledge that there are other beliefs out there which are equally as viable as theirs. Yet they use everything in their power to discredit them because they think they are right and the others are wrong. That isn't true religion.

In those Islamic cultures including the one you experienced...how were people treated that wanted to change their religion? How were women treated? Did they have equal opportunities at life?
