There is no such thing as "radical" Islam. In the Quran it actually states that Islam should wage war against all non-believers and that once a land falls to Islam (conquered) it must forever remain Islamic.
This is why the Muslims hate Israel so much, not just because they are jews but because Israel occupies land that was conquered by the Muslims but originally belonged to the Christians...
Specific references to "Palestine" date back nearly five hundred years before "the time of Jesus." In the 5th Century BC, Herodotus, the first historian in Western civilization, referenced "Palestine" numerous times in chronicle of the ancient world, The Histories, including the following passage describing "Syrians of Palestine":
"...they live in the coastal parts of Syria; and that region of Syria and all that lies between it and Egypt is called Palestine." (VII.89)
The above translation by Harry Carter is featured in the 1958 Heritage Press edition of Herodotus' famous work. Both older and newer versions corroborate the accuracy of the reference. A. D. Godley's 1920 translation of the crucial line states, "This part of Syria as far as Egypt is all called Palestine", while Robin Waterfield's 1998 updated Oxford translation renders the passage this way: "This part of Syria, all the way to the border with Egypt, is known as Palestine."

There are plenty of Islamic cultures that are far from what you've mentioned but I'm sure you turn a blind eye to them as it doesn't fit your agenda.
Do some States in the US still have the death penalty? Pretty barbaric that. Have "christian" troops tortured and maimed non-christian captives? Yes.
Religions aren't barbaric or oppressive, WE are but we use religion as the excuse.
I don't believe that the majority of christians or muslims know what the truth really is which is sad because they apparently both have the same god.
(call me atheist, agnostic, whichever name floats your boat really as it's really important that I'm pigeon-holed in some wayarcasm>)
In a lot of respects, my being non-religious almost makes me believe I'm nearer to the truth than you as I have no pre-conditioned or programmed hatred towards anyone and I'm able to live my live the way I see fit, proper and moralistic.

Jesus was a Horse Thief
(lyrics & music by Chris Watson, Copyright ©2007)
You might not know if you believe, but Jesus led a band of thieves.
Look in Luke chapter nineteen, and you will see what I mean.
[verse type B]
He tells his men to take a colt. This was to me quite a jolt.
The Bible says you shouldn't steal. That is of course if it is real.
[verse type A]
The Bible says you shouldn't take what isn't yours, make no mistake,
but Jesus does it anyway. He tells his crooks what they should say:
[verse type B]
“If anyone asks why you're taking this horse, tell them ‘God needs it’ of course.”
Hanging's too good for this guy, so it is time to crucify.
[chorus]
JESUS WAS A HORSE THIEF!
JESUS WAS A HORSE THIEF!
JESUS WAS A HORSE THIEF!
Yeah.

The land now know as Palestine or Israel was part of the Eastern Roman Empire which had Christianity as its state religion.
This is a map of the Byzantine Empire (Eastern Roman Empire) in the 6th century before the Islamic invasions.
Christianity had been adopted as the Roman Empire's religion 313 AD Link
The land now know as Palestine or Israel was Christian for approximatley 320 years before the Arab conquest in 636/637 AD.

Give me an example then.
Don't just say "plenty".

Your are correct in the first part, however, do you have any experience with Islamic culture?
I don't believe that the majority of christians or muslims know what the truth really is which is sad because they apparently both have the same god.
Are you asserting that you know what the truth is?

I laughed because first you try to put a Christian label on me, while my belief is that we can only carry one true label; human.
In a lot of respects, my being non-religious almost makes me believe I'm nearer to the truth than you as I have no pre-conditioned or programmed hatred towards anyone and I'm able to live my live the way I see fit, proper and moralistic.
This point has some merit but your claim that I was preconditioned or programmed to hate anyone is baseless. In fact, what I was taught is the opposite!
PS.
May I ask where your morals have their roots? Since you seem to be peaceful in your intention.

Muhammad was 56 when he had sex with his 9 year old wife.

According to Islamic doctrine, Muhammad led the perfect life and the Koran demands 91 times that Muslims imitate Mohammed in every way.

The cultures which aren't barbaric when compared to the more extreme cultures are the likes of Turkey, the north African countries such as Morocco, Tunisia etc. Far eastern ones like Indonesia etc.
It was a generalisation towards those who seem predisposed to hate and using their religions as an excuse.
If it's any consolation, I've had similar discussions with muslims who think the same about christianity.
