Its true he has no legal obligation to answer any questions. However answering a question like that is not a big deal and it would show his ability to work *with* people and good intentions. If he had just calmy and rationally answered the questions i believe the outcome would have been much different and he would be alive today. If treyvons father lived inthis gated community, zimmern may have known him. It is unlikely that some random person would know the name of a black family in this gated community. I agree with your assessment that he had no obligation to answer, but it would have been in his own best interest. Showing an unwillingness to cooperate with people will lead people to be suspicious and believe you are hiding something. Any self respecting community watch person would want to know what a teenager he did not recognize was doing intheir gated community at night. Dont forget, the most crime prone group of society is young adult males under the age of 25.

Also thank you for clarifying the use of images of minors in the media. Thought it extended to minors in alk circumstances??

As an Arkansas "hillbilly" I think this comment is inappropriate to say the least. You are entitled to your opinion but a person's geographical location is not always a direct indicator to their intelligence level, anymore so than a person's race or choice of attire represent the actual person. No harm done though, as I am secure in my education and have thicker skin than most.

Oh, I disagree first off. That area is known for its erm..interesting genetic line (the family stick). You can be pro black and be an activist or perhaps a civil rights leader, you can be pro hispanic or pro korean, but ohhh nooo do not be pro white then you are a racist, if Zimmerman was a black man or perhaps 2 shades darker then this would have never made the news just like the hundreds of murders each day.

Why do people think Mr. Zimmerman had some legal authority to stop and question people? Why would it be in my best interest to stop and answer the questions of some person that was following me in the rain? Why would I stop for this person? To me Mr. Zimmerman was acting suspicious. First following me in a car then getting out and following me on foot. Was this guy trying to mug me or worse?

I am not going to cooperate with any old moron who walks up to me. He was not in uniform, he was not representing a state authority...he was just some dude. He was nothing. He does not have a badge.

Even if I knew of Mr. Zimmerman (which he did not)... why do people think that the young boy would want to talk to him anyway. It's stupid. Your just trying to deflect blame away from Mr. Zimmerman and place it on a dead boy.

According to the phone call with the girl he was talking to, he "lost him".. Maybe that is when Z turned around to walk back to his truck and got attacked. I will give you the possibility that both people could have struggled...but what bothers me is...that Mr. Zimmerman first followed the young boy in his car, then got out and followed him down the street. According to witnesses they ended up in a yard away from Mr. Zimmermans truck. You have to remember that the boy was not in the process of committing a crime or just robbed the store...he was walking home.

Now if you were being followed by some weirdo in that manner and then stopped, possibly at gunpoint...what would you do? ... if I had you down on the ground after you pulled a gun out on me (and lets not forget Mr. Zimmerman is not a police officer) i would make sure you had more than just a few grass stains on your back. On the other hand, there a town in NW Ark that, on the back of their "Welcome to.." sign, was painted, "Nigger don't let the sun set on you in this town"... that was there for... 10 years at least... I know there's a lot of smart folks in places like Arkansas, but there's also a LOT of racist scum... and sadly for Ark, a lot of gang-bangers as well... a lethal mix.

I have been a resident of NW Arkansas for over 25 years and although I cannot say that I have actually witnessed the sign that you speak of, I am aware of the racist nature of a lot of people in this area. I am not a racist however and have a problem with being grouped into a stereotype because of the geographical location of my home. As I said before, no harm done, just needed to clarify that not all of us hillbillies are toothless, racist, inbred idiots.

I find it fascinating that black kids shoot black kids every day, but it isn't until a white kid is involved that anybody takes notice.

I don't believe you can be pro-black and be for civil rights, or pro-white/asian/latino/etc....That in itself is built on a bad foundation. The more people try to fight for specific racial groups, the less effective they are in trying to build equality amongst all people.

You can be pro-low income fairness or something, there is no color that matters to wealth disparity.

A person whom is however trying to bring equality to say, the black community need not look at legislation, rather, they need to contact their cultural leaders (rappers, sports stars, etc) and have them understand the importance of their image to the younger generation. Alter that and you alter the fate of any whom identifies with the person.

Incidently, I think black people have as much right to show off black pride as a white person has a right to show off white pride..
