This unarmed kid (and at 17 he was a kid) was shot and killed by a fella for no good reason The kid was breaking no laws – if he had broken any laws you can bet your bottom dollar the local police would have spread that information far and wide to justify their decision not to prosecute. His death is worthy of more than a cursory investigation. (Notice colour doesn’t come into that equation)

And of course he didn’t belong in a ‘gated community’ but don’t you question that the society you live in necessitates this fortified existence and its ‘them or us’ mentality?

I'm from America, and I'm Native American. I've seen how some whites behave.

And I have seen black people rally when there was an innocent white person killed. It happened in my area, and didn't make national news.

I live about 2 miles from the reservation here and I been there a couple times. I met the chief and tried to be polite by shaking his hand and what I get in return? A bit lugie next to my foot and him saying the white man brought that to his country. The natives are just as bad as racism.

This post cannot be reiterated enough. When one takes on responsibility of watchman, or security officer, they don't go off half cocked, killing people out of fear. Treyvon was not a man and some people in the media are referring to him as such. He was a kid. Now he's a dead kid, shot and killed because somebody freaked out and decided it was better to kill a kid, then to have a few fists on your face.

Maybe Treyvon did hit him. You don't execute the death penalty because someone hits you. Last time I checked, assault is not punishable by death. Plus, Zimmerman was stalking him anyway, he admitted it.

I used to lurk on ATS for years and this site was a pleasure to read. Very informative and fun. Then after the Obama election, I noticed that the tone of ATS started to change and there began to be a lot of hate filled posts.

The mods more or less agree with some of the rhetoric being used by these people and that is why there hasn't been any action to stamp out and closely monitor the type of posts being made here.

it was zimmerman yelling for help..
