Those who have done their homework would know that the Sphinx of Egypt was built during the Age of Leo 10750 BCE - 8600 BCE and would have come to realize that humanity has been all but wiped out at least once before about 12,000 years ago and probably 3 times before. So, these 12,000 year old structures should be of no surprise.

Well no, the definition of Egyptologist is:
an archeologist who specializes in Egyptology and the study of the culture and artifacts of the ancient Egyptian civilization.
Having been to AE many times I would suspect that your tour guide was probably just claiming that and thinking you were 'new age' people told you what you wanted to hear......when baksheesh is the order of business, science takes a back seat.

Why do we use BC as a date standard when Jesus is pure fiction?

I always wondered why if these civilizations are so advanced they can carve stones with such skill why are the carvings always so primitive looking? If you were going to carve an animal or a man wouldn't you sometimes make them more life-like and less cartoonish? Or maybe they were really into cartoons? Or maybe people and animals were not yet evolved and looked like Gumby and Pokey so the carvings are actually accurate representations? Dunno.

Why?
Why these heavy pillars at ground level? It's wasn't there to support the side walls. These kinds of pillars are obviously foundations to support a higher structure above.
No matter what, this architecture is amazing! They used to build such great things back then... now all we do are ugly cheap plastic houses and lame steel buildings. That's some "evolution"!

did you know the screenplay for the original STARGATE movie, was written by 2 egyptologists from john hopkins university who put their THEORIES in it, and that the film maker originally turned it down, then 10 years later, decided to use it afterall, changed a few names, pretended like it his idea, and made it into a movie. the egyptologists took the guy to court and it was settled out of court.
this information was removed from wikipedia. it's still available in other places, but wiki's entry vanished.edit on 8-2-2012 by undo because: (no reason given)

Not sure that's true. Roland Emmerich studied at the University of Television and Film Munich. Neither he nor Dean Devlin ever studied Egyptology, but they sure are well-versed in alternative history and archaeology.
Emmerich and Devlin also wrote and directed the film 10,000 BC. In that film, the pyramids are already under construction, and the "hero" of the film kills the "god" who has made himself pharaoh.

that was a huge mess you just made! okay 2 egyptologists from john hopkins, who were NOT devlin or emmerich, wrote the original screenplay for stargate the movie based on their (the 2 egyptologists) theories about ancient egypt. at the time they submitted the screenplay to devlin, he said he wasn't interested, and then 10 years later, changed a few names and called it his screenplay. the 2 egyptologists from john hopkins took him to court and it was settled out of court. the reference is all over the place. wiki is the only one of those places that has the entry removed, because wiki is the only place where anybody can come in and edit stuff on the flimiest of evidence.

Okay, that makes sense. I'd never heard that before. In either case, though, it's obvious that Emmerich and Devlin are familiar with the material.

you gotta watch these guys with both eyes and your glasses on. for example, he claims gobekli tepe is several thousand years older than stonehenge or the great pyramid, but our dates for these locations were given by the same people who claimed ancient greeks couldn't write and ancient troy never existed. watch them carefully. research their claims.
