I think everyone should be content with what they have and stop looking to the world to supply an inefficient system of waste and military spending.....yes, the US should leave where not invited.....logic.....no one has a right outside their home...

the reason why this thread has become a US vs UK thing is because no one wants to admit that they profit from the missery of others.....and have to find technicality to justify being outside their own borders in force and in the process of extracting wealth from another persons land....

yes no one was there.....but all of Europe left their colonies in one way or the other because it wasnt conducive to progress....to much resentment on the table to get anything done....look at the US now....we are paying the price of our empire.....so are the brits.....just be honest.....its not because its right.....its just necesary....

Again, you my friend are an idiot... How can it be resource rape as you put quite finely? We have been there for 200 years, and if I am not mistaken, we lacked the necessary technology to go looking for oil on the ocean floor?

You may call me rude....I call you irelevant.

Lol
Imagine British troops fresh outta Afghanistan against the argentine forces
30 years ago it was against a British force unprepared for expeditionary warfare who's recent combat experience was small skirmishes around the world and northern Ireland ( and trained on the beacons )
Now the British are stretched.........maybe, but battle hardened and ready for rapid deployments, and from what I can gather the troops are itching for some good old GW as opposed to counter insurgency ops
Um.......what has Argentina been up to ?
Not a fraggin lot
And wouldn't be at all surprised if you saw a rapid redeployment exercise by the Brits in the comming weeks
But that asside I believe the islanders should be able to decide
but the islands in international waters and unpopulated before English settlers arrived therefore Argentina has no claim
Wow there really was some heated discussion going on here lol Ludwic....-QV is that you ?
Yep Britain did some bad stuff over the years - but Generally was fair to the populus
But then hey name me 1 country where if you go back far enough rant responsible for heinous crimes against humanity
Even south America - how many thousands were sacrificed a day by the incas, Aztecs and so on - grow up like the rest of the world has
But just 1 more thing - having the Falklands as a British protectorate allows the UK certain rights over areas of the south Atlantic and Antarctic and the means to defend interests in that area
Infact the UK's claimed area is rather disproportionate - its not just about oil peeps

What on earth are you on about?

Brits love the Yanks & the Aussies, now lets get back on topic please

You're are either incredibly stupid or incredibly ignorant if you think this is a case of resources theft by the British Government, i suggest you go and brush up on the history of the Islands & Argentina's if you are going to comment any further...

It doesn't matter, which ever way you want to look at it, it really doesn't matter what the argys say or do, Argentina will never ever get those Islands, they don't have any legal ground to stand on, nore do they have the military power to take on the British Army, by land sea or air

What the hell are you talking about?

The queen rules the UK. The UK ``owns`` the Falkland islands. Pretty simple.

I don't think you understand the issue to be honest. You started on an anti-British slant for some islands that were never inhabited until we went there - yes, that means no natives. Therefore the question of empire and colonies is actually redundant and makes you look rather foolish.

Good effort though. Well done.

You're absolutely sure about that?
Who do you mean by 'we'? The Brits?
What about the French and Spanish?
Britain has always employed gunboat diplomacy regarding the Malvinas.

Your arguement is valid, hence why India was given back...Hong Kong was given back...etc. etc.. However, since there were no inhabitants of the island 400 miles off the non existand Argentinian coast, WE PUT A FLAG IN IT!

The first two flags were British and French (on an uninhabited Island) in 1766, Spain took over the French claim, then Spain and England nearly came to war over the claim but a peace treaty allowed the English back in 1770 , then the Spanish came back when England was distracted in 1774 with the US war of independence, then uninhabited since 1811 then River Plate (ie pre Argentina) in 1820 then reoccupied by British since 1833.

NB AT THE SAME TIME AS ALL OF THIS THE AREA OF LAND KNOWN AS ARGENTINA BELONGED TO SPAIN (although I suspect some native indians who did not have guns might argue about that)

So unless you are a hypocrite of the highest order you can claim the Falklands for Argentina but at the same hand Argentina back to the Spanish but if truly a very honest person hand Argentina back to the native indians and all the descendants of the European settlers (Spanish and Welsh!) go home.

Meanwhile the Falklands have been occupied for 182 years by people who have always been British on an island only ever occupied by Europeans and almost entirely military during the disputed ownership periods.

"The Malvinas" is a distraction by weak Argentinian governments and only unthinking voters in Argentina fall for it!

mass murdered 1.8 million people in india? i must of been asleep when that happened. surely you mean genocide?
or do you mean that you havent done any research and and your talking about the days of the raj?
if your talking about the raj then i presume your talking about the great uprising of 1857?
that uprising came about because of the caste system, geographical differences and possible tallow coated ammunition. apart from the ammunition issue the caste and geographical differences had a lot more to do with the uprising or fight for independance. most of the fighting was indian against indian.
please do a little research before posting sensationalist comments

as mentioned numerous time in this thread . it is not argentinas land, it was uninhabited the brits have claimed sovereignty since early 1800s. the argentinians only invaded in 1982 as a way to win back public support for millitary junta in power at the time. after suffering a bloody nose public opinion fell dramatically as well as support from the millitary and a general election was called for in 1983

they are sick of foreign powers in that part of the world......it had a bad commencement on ALL sides.....and will end badly unless some one just ends the greed we have toward that part of the world.....

if you go back far enough every place was uninhabited at one point and yet people come and go leaving only a scratch of a mark upon histroy and times memory....the world is ours or no ones....I speak for sanity and avoiding conflict since our world has yet to know 100 years of peace.....this is only a stepping stone to more war....I as an American am SICK OF IT...

sorry but i cant read anymore of your drivel about mass murder in india. the world was a different place then if britain hadnt been committing these attrocities then some other country would. i am not disputeing the fact that 1.8 billion died but can you prove they died at the hands of the british. each brit would have to have killed 36000 indians. you can not blame deaths from civil war solely at the feet of the british.what about the infrastructure that britain left behind, what about the amount of aid that britain sends to india every year,
