Also I believe with the increased naval recruitment for 12-18 month long term tours at sea; NATO troop build up in Jordan @ Syrian border as Bashar (and his Ba'athist member admin) continue their tyranny , it seems that the fight may begin in Syria - Iran is their closest and oldest ally.

- I agree with the OP - this is what could be used to get Obama re-elected. Americans don't change presidents during war time. If TPTB want Obama-puppet in .. we'll be in Iran, and not just in a covert way.

US military 'ready to engage in a conflict with Iran'

America's most senior military official has indicated that the country is ready to engage in a conflict with Iran, if President Barack Obama were to give the signal.

General Martin Dempsey, chairman of the US joint chiefs of staff, said that the US military had reached a point where they were ready to execute force against Iran if necessary.

In an interview with US media in Afghanistan he said: "We are examining a range of options. I'm satisfied that the options that we are developing are evolving to a point that they would be executable if necessary."

Gen Dempsey said the US is collaborating with Israel in its intelligence gathering but reiterated that there are no guarantees the Israelis would inform the US before launching an attack.

If you stop and think, the US even has "attack plan's" for invading Canada, that tidbit came out during the Dubya Administration. So, yeah, the US has "battle plans" for almost every nation outside our borders.

And I think you may be right about Obama's re-election (Republicrat A). I pretty certain TPTB have already decided on Romney as the Republican candidate (Republicrat B). So lame.

The game, I suspect, is that Obama will be re-elected, then assassinated within the first two years of his second term. That should create all kinds of domestic chaos (race riots) and help distract the general populace from a further deteriorating economy. It also creates an excuse for TPTB to use more controls on us.

Sadly that CBS poll is correct. We are a very violent people here in the US. We have been at war in the ME for 20 straight years now; It's all we know.

During the 9/11 anniversary this year, I asked co-workers friends and others if they were bothered by the fact that over 200,000 Afghan & Iraqi citizens have died as a result of the US invasions. They all said no, and that it served them right. We were all bloodthirsty after 9/11, some of us still are.

200K civilian deaths is roughly fifty fold the amount of destruction caused by 9/11. An overwhelming amount of Americans feel this is justified.

Iran will give them a run for their money I think. As you said, facing invasion, they will pull many people into the ranks to defend themselves.

Iran's military sucks, that is just fact. I love how people like to root for the underdog but Its going to be a blood bath on Iran. I don't want to see this happen any more than the next guy. Having spent quite a few years in the Army my self, I know its capable of.

I think it is evident during the Iraq vs Iran war. Though it happened in the 80's the casualty numbers are higher on the Iranian side. However the warfare technology has changed a lot since then. I'm sure there were lessons learned on the Iranian side from all the wars they were involved in addition to the ones that US was involved with. I wouldn't be surprised if they even used some of their forces to engage in Iraq war against the US to study the US strategy for ground warfare in Iraq first hand instead of hearsay. One thing is for sure that we do start a war but the politicians in DC keep influencing (Policies & Budget) the outcome after it has started. This factor I feel has a big impact on the outcome of a War and the Casualties despite the highly trained soldiers.
