So this quarter of women, what ages does this cover? If we accept that under 18 isn't a woman and we exclude the elderly then it's a pretty small percentage of the population.

How many of these are struggling to lose baby weight?

There's no doubt the amount of fat people is growing, both male and female and unfortunately younger people who should have higher activity and fast metabolisms.

It costs the health service billions to deal with the associated health problem that come with being obese. So will we tackle it like they tackle smoking or drinking? At least smokers and drinkers plough billions back in in taxes. Fatties, well they just eat.

One other thing, when did it become acceptable for fat people to use shopping scooters designed for disabled people?

I am not surprised if the statistics are correct and UK has the fattest women to be honest. I do not mind about looks, that is subjective, however I do believe it is important to keep healthy in size if you plan to or have kids. I am still young but my main motivation to keeping fit is so my future children have a better chance of health. Sure you can be happy, maybe even healthy and be overweight though I think keeping fit should be a priority in today’s society. Just my opinion, humans I do not think have evolved quick enough to deal with the abundance of food we in the west consume so it is important to work extra hard to keep healthy.

I am also 30 and just recently got my thyroid level to where it needs to be. I have to take medicine for the rest of my life to keep it regulated.

I've lost nearly 50lbs recently and aim to keep going for 130-140lbs to reach my goal.

How do you know these fat people using scooters don't have a disability? Have you asked them?

I don't think it's socially acceptable to be an overweight man because where I live, most women do not want a man of such proportions.

One must adapt if they wish to spend the rest of their lives in a meaningful manner.

You need to get your ego in check because it's out of control here.

Don't berate people when you could be giving them meaningful advice. I swear you remind me of R.Lee Ermey with your attitude.

Also, bodybuilding puts ON weight, which is certainly muscle, but is still weight.I'm going to get down to an acceptable weight before I build muscle. I could do both at once but that's good enough.

I eat a 2100 calorie diet and there are days when I eat up to the limit and days when I don't even reach it. I go by what my body wants and I tried losing weight a few years ago with a 1500 calorie diet. Didn't work. I also exercise every day.

The last time I ate at McDonald's, I got a burger that was gray in color and I was sick all day. I haven't touched McD's since and I live right across from one!

I would rather make my own burger or eat a REAL burger at a REAL restaurant than touch that garbage that McD's calls "food". If the FDA actually did its' job, McDs and other fast food restaurants wouldn't exist!

It's mainly for people that have a disability with their legs, the fatties I HAVE SEEN walk over to the scooters with no problem except a waddle. I'm sure any disabled person would love to get the use of their legs back by not being greedy for a while. Same with forces veterans who have to struggle while fat pigs ride around the store.

Evil, selfish people who society would be better off without.

Wow, i'm seriously feeling the love on this thread.

You can have a disabilty that impedes mobility other than having something wrong with your legs.

When people are less mobile because of a disability they can become fat.

It's the simplest form of exercise someone can do and you're mocking it?

I walk more now than I did two-three months ago, at least 3-4 miles total a day. I've lost almost 50lbs and that's with a good thyroid and eating between 1500-2100 calories a day.

Here's a brilliant idea: Don't judge people just by what you see.

I don't like it either but that person could have a legit disability and I'd look like an ass for making an assumption about why they use a scooter.

Utter utter rubbish, the vast majority of obese people are lazy fat selfish pigs. The excuses they spit out are laughable, they are a disgrace to themselves and a laughing stock to the rest of us.

Massive benefits culture
Terrible family values in the last few decades leaving a lot of single mums taking care of multiple children (combined with problem 1) with little time to exercise
Terrible food quality, high food prices
High stress, high hours per week work (for those who do) compared to other EU countries

It's easy to see why a few may get large

No they are fat and lazy, simple as. While you defend them they grow fatter, get more benefits and cost us more money.

How evil do you have to be to selfishly take a disabled scooter so that a genuinely disabled person has to suffer. I wouldn't spit on an obese person, they sicken me.

Your post proves that the people who come here to post just keep getting more and more ignorant. How ironic.

Apparently we don't live in a free country because someone always wants to ban this, ban that or kill this, kill that.

Hey, Fat chicks need love too! Well, is what I have heard anyway. Really does it matter if uk chicks are obese... look at the united states.

Oxford Journal on Obesity

Most of the population now is obese male or female. It is all a part of their plan. We are but "sheeple" and we shall be fed like "sheeple" We must bow to the god "wal-mart" What do I hear? "Attention wal-mart shoppers, closing time is in just an hour, we encourage you to stop by our mcdonalds for a fast and easy serving of today's poison. We also suggest that you make all last minute preperations and kiss your ass goodbye... Thank you for shopping at wal-mart." This is what I would like to do. I would love to capture the manager and duct tape them to the little rocking horsey ride thingy out front and crank up the speed, put a black hood over there head with a mcdonald's double cheeseburger in it with one eye hole and make them ride that freaking thing for a month straight. How you like me now? ok, enough of my looney thoughts. We are all a product of our environment, and to put it nicely... this is just a fairy tale world in which we live. Created for us to benefit the elites and to kill us slowly. Anyone that has not seen Food Inc. It is a must see if you eat.

I went up to her and said "Excuse me love, about your T-shirt slogan."

She stopped me and angrily said "Oh let me guess, you want to know how many men I've eaten?!
Well I can't help my size you know!"

I said "Actually no, I wasn't going to say that at all."

She looked happier and smiled as she said "Oh yes, what did you want to say then?."

"That's not how you spell Manatee."

Do use use sickipedia?

Anyway yes where I live there are about 100 kebab shops and thats just them. But they have started doing really really cheap deals and I think that is what may be causing alot of it. That and being pure lazy.
