i dont care if it was legal or not, what that cop did was pathetic, if you think otherwise i've no doubt you're pretty pathetic too.
also, one of those cops had a paintball gun. why are the police carrying paintball guns?

When the people causing a distrubance outweighs the number of police officers there the police have every right to make sure the main ones are put out of commission before they are subdued. This gives the police the upper hand so they will not get hurt.
If they simply went to arrest one and then got surrounded and beaten, they would have said "man we should have pepper sprayed them first". It's better safe than sorry so they will make it home another day.
When the protestors are verbally warned that they were going to use the pepper spray and then remained there they knew what the consequences would be.
Do you notice how no one else was directly sprayed? They wanted the ones being "martyrs" to move. They refused. They got what they deserved. Should be end of story but doubtful to the people who think this movement is above the law.

It was for firing rubber bullets or small tear gas bullets. Guns used elsewhere are far more dangerous, so the painball guns are considered the "safe" version. It might also just be because their police department doesn't want to pay for the more expensive and deadly version.

I am going to refute that the cause of this idiot vomiting blood for a half hour was pepper spray. It is either a fabrication or the result of other things that were in his system. This is the kind of crap I am talking about. The active ingredient in PS is also used in pain-reliving creams and found in ALL hot peppers. It is a natural substance.

Pepper balls are not tear gas. Also rubber bullets are fired mainly from guns without c02 containers.
