help me out blaine. i don't want to be on somebody's list of "enemies" just because i don't agree with everything OWS does. (ignore the fact, that i think this particular incident is being blown out of proportion and seems a very flimsy reason to attack OWS, but just consider that i don't always agree with OWS decisions, if there's a single decision to disagree with that is, i get put on someone's list of being a gov propagandist. do you believe they are honestly compiling lists ? should i panic now?

whilst I don't support any intimidation of non-ows protesters, it's not exactly a crime on the same par as global bank corruption imo.

Um, I would assume that buddha was talking about the OP or the CBS news station for his 'list of active propagandists'? Why are you acting like he was addressing you?

This story isn't just 'blown out of proportion', it's deliberate protectionist misdirection from CBS, and the OP is infecting this forum with their baseless attack.

People should criticise the blocking of schools and roads all they want, it's a perfectly valid complaint. But people shouldn't pretend that these protesters were harassing children so they can assume a false moral high-ground. And they definitely shouldn't be acting as mouth pieces for trash corporate journalism like this.

do you think i should panic now? does having an opinion on ATS endanger the lives or livelhood of its membership?
i don't agree with corruption either but just because i don't agree with corruption doesn't mean i have to agree with other things people do that i disagree with. what's up with that? is ATS now a hazard to post on?

You speak for all of those who are against OWS? Obviously your bias against OWS has clouded your judgement. Its easy to find examples of posts from people that have a hatred for the protestors on ATS.

Definite hatred, and having hate in one's heart is something to be ashamed of in my book.

*I* certainly don't have any hatred towards OWS. Clearly, I don't speak for everyone who is against OWS. But in my opinion, what I said still stands...I think people find OWS to be ridiculous, or confusing, or a waste of time. I've seen people who are definitely not fans of OWS. Maybe there IS some hatred. I haven't interpreted it that way, but then again, I continue to be astonished by people every day, optimist that I am.

the problem is, this same thing happened in reverse, when it was the tea party. i've come to believe the whole thing is like a well-orchestrated lead up to an end game, and dang it, i don't want to suffer anymore. i've had my fill of suffering. i don't want to see others suffer either, though. these issues need to be dealt with but not at the expense of hurting one another. but did you notice, all the op had to do was post an article somebody else wrote, and a video, somebody else filmed, disagreeing with and nit-picking OWS and suddenly the op is on a LIST?
a list?

all you have to do here now, is have an opinion, and you end up on somebody's "we hate you" list, and if that somebody is acting as a mouthpiece for a larger group who must have a list in order to be put on it.in the first place, this can't be a good thing........

dang it, here i thought i was sharing my opinion on subjects with other adults, but instead, i'm marching myself to the gulag

And yet, the Tea Party is all catagorized by the left and media as Racist....Nazi.....Fascist.....etc....

Lie.

What media? When? Where? Prove it?

Prove it? Since you are making the charge of "lie", how about you go first. Start with this assertion you made:

Since you brought them up, the so called TEA Party called for the murder of fellow Americans on a daily basis. That was cool though, right?

I'll wait.

Psychopaths do not play by the same rules decent folk play by.

Your characterization of all policemen as "Psychopaths" is troubling to me.

Certainly, there are psychopaths in every demographic, so there would have to be a few. I'd bet some of the OWS protestors are even psychopaths. That doesn't make them all psychopaths.

Many policemen, however, are hardworking men (and women...don't want to leave them out) who put their lives on the line to protect us. Where I live, they are underpaid and I am grateful for the service that they do in our community.

Well I don't see how the kid was "afraid" when he said it was like a parade, would have been better if the reporter didn't prompt him with that word choice.

One guy follows a dad and his kid and that means all of OWS there is bad? Don't really know why the guy was following, could have been the dad was being rude as well.

Not sure I follow your concerns completely. I don't think you should panic, or be concerned of your right to have an opinion.
What is dangerous is when we form our opinion based on controlled release of dis-information, mixed in with some fact to add credibility to a story. We all see things differently depending on our perspective but we should all agree that corruption exists at all levels (even in a peaceful demonstration). Infiltration of an event is really easy and everyone can have a communal or private agenda.
I guess the problem is there are more anti-ows than pro-ows news items and the negative stories are the preferential headlines atm.

I’ve been moaning about the banks for years, but ows are actually getting off their backsides and doing something about it – that I do support.

well you gotta know the bulk of bible reading christians are watching for what comes out on top because the head honcho will be the big bad guy of prophecy, or so we've been lead to believe. personally, i've had a few paradigm shifts since i started studying scripture with other ATS'ers and some of it.......let's just say, if it is what i think it is, it's gonna get REALLLLLLLLLLY bad. i hope i'm wrong though.

It's not an excuss or a cop-out give me a break... You want to make comparisons? Okay by your logic I should be afraid that every Christan or priest around the corner is going to molest my kids, or maybe I should just avoid all Muslims because if some are terrorist they all are right? Oh I saw an old woman the other day stealing from the produce section at the super market, all old people must be theives as well.

Every person is responsible for their own actions, nobody is responsible for the actions of another.

They are when they condone it by not condemning it and ejecting the perpetrator from their "community", whatever that community may be.

I think you're absolutely right. Most attempts at social improvement, egalitarian growth, or individual empowerment, be it from right or left, is being very effectively nullified by the media at the moment. Precisely because that tiny group of people part represented by Wall Street have been winning the game for a long time.

The journalists who happily shot down Tea Party supporters and libertarian activists - people who are real 99%'ers with genuine grievances - should also be added to a 'list of active propagandists'. Truth and accurate reporting of reality is extremely important.

None of this requires hate, but it does require filtering out the liars and the cheats. I think the OPs willingness to support active disinformation shows which side they are on.

There are a number places in this country behavior like this would be tolerated. New York is one place where men will not stand in defense of children.

hey mods, did you know your website is attracting people from all over, with various types of opinions that are now being put on lists of some kind if they disagree with anything? sounds threatening. i don't want to be on people's lists. i just want to be happy, and i would like it if everyone else was happy as well. unhappy people is not good. some people are unhappy no matter what and some are happy no matter what, and then there's the rest of us who struggle to figure it all out and get put on lists of various kinds.

i do believe that buddha is warning us that if we post on ATS any opinion against OWS, whatsoever, we will go on the "list" of government propagandists, even if we aren't government propagandists, just normal, every day people.

can i have a refund for all my time spent here since the last thing i expected was to be put on somebody's "We hate you " list.

Nah. Don't sweat it. I think they should issue medals and ribbons to folks who can make their "lists". Badge of honor, if you ask me,

Plus, it would make for easy ID whenever they come to DO something about their "lists". THAT is the day I'm waiting for! Got special surprises already lined up.

Everyone likes surprises, right?

I've seen them specifically mention "beheadings". Rope and lamp posts can't be far behind that. My head comes fairly expensively, but if they're willing to pay the price, I think they ought to have a ready means of identification so they don't get the wrong guy, and that ribbon and medal would be just the ticket for proper ID.

ETA: You know, it IS a bit odd that there are those around who will decry "assassinations", "extraordinary renditions", "torture", "tribunals", and so on with their mouths, and at the same time be making "lists" with their hands, isn't it?

Maybe the lists they're making are people they want to send Christmas cards to?

well here's the issue i have with the "filtering" out concept.

filtering out people that disagree with you is removing freedom of speech. from some people but not others who agree with you. and although i know the issue is that the ones with the biggest megaphones are the most responsible to tell the truth (and if they aren't, that's BAD) in the final wash, depriving people of the pursuit of life, liberty and happiness, including free speech, based on difference of opinion, is not a good thing and that includes while attempting to protect people's pursuit of life, liberty and happiness. how can it be one and not the other? i have some real examples for you and it ain't pretty. we don't want to wish this on our nation

I'll look for it, but it may have gotten "T+C" removed, as the entire post was a bit over the top.

"Over the top" heh, heh, no pun intended, but it works...

There IS one member around here, I forget which one, who has a stylized guillotine for his avatar. Can't recall the handle, but the guillotine is red and blue on a white background. How's that for patriotic?
