Hello ATS Mods & Community,

I am brand new here, and the first thing I've read as a New Member is this post. Eeek! It can be really challenging to step up and say anything online, especially about a topic that is strongly felt. I appreciate the attempt to make this a better environment, and I hope I'll be brave enough to share / ask questions / engage.

I've read some pretty negative stuff, some confusing stuff (in fact I signed up because I noticed someone posting a 'debunking' photo that is different than the actual photo I'm aware of, which confused me, but that thread was closed now...) and I've seen some really kind, civilized and intelligent stuff.

So, thank you, Mods! And to the folks on the board, at the very least I'm reading your posts and really interested in what you all have to say.

I agree. Anyone who bites back more than once without posting somedocumentation to back their argument or claim or resorts to name-calling should have their IP address - not their name banned for 90 days on first offense and 1 year on a second offense. Nobody wants to read all that back and forth crap.

I've been very vocal about my own experiences but left for a number of months because I was starting to feel the need to defend what I've gone thru with proof such as photographic/audio evidence or dispute the constant lucid dreaming or sleep paralysis answers to everything abduction related. I only wish!

I once again had to find my peace with this lifetime of mystery and a thousand different theories as to the what's,why's and when's wasn't helping.

My time here left me more confused and seeking more answers than before. A few weeks ago I felt compelled to come back.

Nice to see the new rules implemented. Nothing wrong with a good healthy dose of skepticism,but suggesting that abductees are mentally ill, on drugs, dreaming is very insulting. The majority of us never asked for any of this. I feel like I live a double life. Nothing fun about it.

Good show.. Allthough I am just recently a member I do lurk around above top secret and must say I got quite irritated by some remarks, mostly made by "believers". Hope this will set it strait

Don't worry, there's a very active censorship bureau here which will make many messages vanish just like
LightAgainstGods' up above. That's freedom of speech for you, even here on Above Top Secret.

Interestingly enough there is a pattern to those messages which vanish. If you arrange them alphabetically by the old Greek system, place them in a 5 x 5 matrix and read them using a grid reference based on... OK, I'm Kidding!

The pattern for removing threads and posts is revealed here. Though it may appear mysterious to some, it's really not a secret, and it's the basis upon which all moderating decisions are made.

Some people resent the fact that hoaxes, trolling, porn, libel, fraud, chain letters, threats, criminal activity and personal attacks aren't welcome on ATS, and consider it an affront to "free speech" when they are removed. Some don't, and enjoy ATS for what it is, rather than lament what it is not.

ATS membership is a personal choice we are all free to make, whether to stay or go. Everything that takes place here is always in that context. No one is forced to be here, which is why so much of the angst expressed by so few makes so little sense.

This is great that ATS is going on upgrade, so many UFO and alien stuff to be discuss. latest crop circles 2012

My problem is with "moderating decisions". I'm new here at ATS and haven't had any real problems. But I've been with BBSs for decades and what messages are allowed or not tend to rest on the whim of the moderators.
Many detailed reports I've typed online (in real-time no less--this was without any offline reader software) were wiped out of existence simply because that particular moderator disagreed with its content. Consequently, out of frustration, and I became more and more alienated from modern computer tech (pretty good for someone who works in the computer field!). I've come across some wonderful threads on BBSs which meander all over the place but are allowed because the moderator's friends are doing the typing. Biases and things like that. It's pretty nasty. And the justification? All "bad" messages are posted by "trolls" even if they are spot-on in regard to the subject matter. It's so easy to justify one's actions if you have power. Just like in the real world...

Statistically speaking, aliens are real. I just don't see any real proof that they're hanging around here, landing saucers in the woods, and abducting people.

I just signed up to ATS so I could post this. I am a long-time reader but first time poster. I just found a story (Alex Collier Interview March 3rd 2012) supposedly from Alex Collier. After about two minutes, I recognized the voice. It is David Wilcock, not Alex Collier. I apologize if this is not the place to post this but it is too important not to get out.
