Actually he said it's a trend, disagreeing with it. You might want to be an informed reader and look up a real source with the whole quote, because this thread is pretty much a lie.

Furthermore, you can never abolish a church. Freedom of religion means freedom for all.

Why is what the daughters did good? They did it on their free will. God never endorsed it. Not every action in the bible is endorsed by God, that's pretty obvious. You have to talk about what evil is. And what the daughters did was evil.

Just wow. Are all you people idiots?

It would take an idiot to ask that question. My ststement, stands clear of any finding of idiocy on my part.

You put 'soled their souls' in your statement - do you stand by that also as being non idiotic? I didn't realise souls had soles, so you not only didn't read the full document you commented on, you also didn't check your own comment.

Exactly! and this is even more evidence that the Catholic church is a harbinger of evil. The Vatican, the elites of the banking and political societies are evil and are the enemies of humanity.

We are in a war, RIGHT NOW. Whether you realize it or not, it is going on right now! WAKE UP!

Wake up, or grow up - read the actual article (preferably from the actual source) and you will see the real context - I think you don't want to do you?

Thanks for your reply. It took the Catholic church centuries to take the "hated Jew" part out of there prayers in invoking Gods grace. Considering the relationship that pope Pious the 12th had with the Nazis, I don't think even the most right wing among them could stomach that. At least not get away with it it for long. So I agree, more inquiry is needed. I wonder if there could be an inner struggle of ideologies within the Vatican? Hardly would be the first time...

every single one of your replies to this thread, seem far more discomforting to me than anything the pope said. In any form or fashion. How there can ever be a view point that sex between two 13 yr old children can be seen as equal as a 13 yr old and a 30 yr old, even consensual sex. that is far and beyond disturbing, or that a 13 yr old having sex is actually acceptable shows to me either you don't have kids or could care less about them if you do.

even more so, your stance of "oh well if it feels good why deprive yourself with it" is exactly the thing he was taking a stance-against in this speech. this form of depravity has become the Achilles heel of society from it's inception. Any and all great nations have fallen and societies as a whole have collapsed when this mentality became the central ideology. it would feel good for me to break into your house and steal all that you have so i don't have to spend money on it myself, but it is wrong. it would feel good to act on my anger, and get revenge, but it would be wrong. it would feel good to be on vacation every day for the rest of my life, but there are responsibilities that i must take care of and thus would be wrong.

the ideology that people have the right to do what they want when they want how they want is not an ideology of freedom it is an ideology of mayhem. a true ideology of freedom promotes the freedom of all not the freedom of one, being as you are a single piece that makes up the whole. the ideology of freedom is actually one of self-restriction and self-discipline. you don't do what you want just because you want to, but rather you do what you want because you know it will provide the greatest outcome. you work hard in school in order to get a degree. you perform volunteer hours so that your resume will look good and/or because it makes you feel good about yourself as an individual. you work an internship at a lower pay so that you can have the experience to get a better job.

what you are inferring is that we must/should give in to all of our desires. that would be absolute chaos and complete idiocracy.

I'm a Catholic, or at least was before I removed myself from organized religion. Time and time again has the Pope and the heads of church shown that they are out of tune with the rest of the followers. These people sit in fancy offices and fantasize about fondling children whereas the rest of us find even the slightest thought horrible and disgusting. These "holy men" should be literally made, "holey" men. I have no love for pedophiles no matter who they are, pope or average Joe.

Pope Benedict XVI, he looks evil. Don't trust a man with small, beady eyes.

Errrm, don't trust someone whose avatar shows them in a nurses outfit covered in blood? Never set your thoughts based on features they have no control over.

Sounds like the pope needs to be hung and the vatican burnt down. What a completely disgusting thing to say. These are definitely not men of god.

Actually, sounds like you have believed the headline and not read the actual story. The pope was quoted as saying what the historical attitude towards child abuse had been in society - he was by no means defending it. If you had actually read that then you may have seen it.

It's a little like the repulsive racial attitudes had been historically in America - by commenting on them it doesn't mean you agree with them.

Well as maybe but considering the hurt this has caused I think the whole idea of giving the info was poorly thought out.

“Pope Benedict XVI also claimed that child pornography was increasingly considered “normal” by society.

Again a viewpoint that he really should not be aligning himself by, whether or not the point may be true it looks like he's excusing it to many, again, poorly thought out OR saying his true feelings..

Who knows but there's far too many children whose lives are ruined thanks to what happened, making a bullet point set of facts in his level of being in charge was for me a very stupid idea.

Bit like a surgeon after losing a patient telling the relative that its a quite normal, happens all the time, but that's life (or not)

Its NOT the sort of thing you want to hear in such a matter of fact way.

Read the actual text, stop looking at a headline without understanding it.

You are judging someone by what they look like. I'm sure you may an oil painting but that doesn't mean the rest of us are and it doesn't make you 'discomforting'.... unless of course you have a mental age in the single figures. I'm sorry but that kind of attitude is decades if not centuries out of date.

Yes I am judging someone on how they look. Im soz its the truth. The man is one of the very few peeps in life that really gives me bad vibes...

OK, when you get out of school then your opinion may count. By then you may actually have a mature view that is worth discussing.

The headline was in the past tense and it is correct. I really do not know why you are sticking up for an organisation that it rotten to the core...

roman catholic church's pedophile investigator jailed for possessing thousands of child porn images.

A Catholic Church child safety co-ordinator who was in charge of investigating sexual abuse allegations was jailed for 12 months today for internet peadophile offences. Christopher Jarvis, 49, a married father-of-four, investigated historic claims of child abuse, interviewing the victims when they were adults.

Rotten to the core.. There is no need to make stuff up...

I was raised in the Catholic religion and sent to private Catholic schools for 12 years....I was taught mostly by nuns and priests I saw a lot of corruption, hypocrisy, and was subjected to some of it.

So....yes I am very opinionated on the topic in this thread.
