Pray you don't have to learn the answer to that one.

It's amazing to me just how many people support Iran getting the bomb. It puts the lie to the old argument that we shouldn't do anything about Iran's nuclear program because surely it's for peaceful purposes only and they only want it for energy... That argument never even mattered to those who used it, it was just intellectual dishonesty to avoid admitting that you support Iran getting the bomb. It frankly makes me sick. I know I'm going to get
for this comment, but quite I've frankly had it and I'm going to speak my mind whatever the cost.

Since the Iran supporters have already shown me their willingness to put forth a position they don't actually believe simply in order to appear as "moderate" as possible, let me just ask anyone who wants to flame me this question. I want to hear you give your answer on record about the next debate position once Iran is allowed to have the bomb... does it even matter to you if they use it on Israel? I don't care to hear that you don't think they would because of the collateral, just speaking hypothetically if they did, if Israel were wiped off the face of the earth by Iran in a surprise attack, would it matter to you?

^ propaganda. notice they're saying IAEA said so and so and apparently even 'quoting' in their Report,

but make no reference of the report verbatim (of which a PDF file is available elsewhere online)

where have we seen this WMD skit before, huh??

I don't think anyone so far has said they want Iran to get the bomb. My issue with this topic is the people who want to go to war over a country having researched possibilities about acquiring said weapons. It's a regional issue, one that doesn't warrant militaristic responses from our side, we should be trying to defuse the situation and distance ourselves/prepare ourselves for any conflict which may occur in that region, it should NOT be our goal to exacerbate it, to get involved in conflicts we should have no part in and make the problems in the middle east a whole lot worse.

Ya know.. we're pretty late in the ball game here in regards to Iran and conflict.

Russia is a major global player.. Everyone knows that the US and Israel are in cahoots trying to topple the middle east and lie through their teeth to get what they want.

If all Russia can do is a email a statement from a sister ministry stating 'possible political dishonesty' then they are either

1. Weak
2. Involved
3. Clueless

I dont want Russia to be a global leader, nor someone who sets the standards for human rights and conflict, but civilization REQUIRES them to stand up to the cameras and say quite blatantly:
'' The US and Israel are lying, do not attack Iran, we will not assist you, we will stand with Iran ''

because if you do nothing and stand by and watch your just as guilty as those doing the bombing.

Pure trolling and irrelevant to the debate at hand..

There's more chance of Israel doing the attacking..
Care to comment on that instead??

Actually there is also a good chance that the Iranian leaders believe that they will be attacked one way or another, and actually expect it, planned for it, and an unprovoked attack by Israel, and the USA will provide them ALL of the religious justification they need to destroy Israel...

May sound suicidal, and twisted, but if you ever dig into what they actually believe the above would make perfect sense.

Kind of works that way... But, there is only one "supreme leader" THE Ayatollah, his power is absolute and above all.

This is the true leader of Iran.

Not so scary looking, is he?

I'm expecting him next month to come down the chimney.

I ain't no expert on nukes but droppin a nuke on Israel (god forbid) it's like taking a sledge hammer to crack a nut?? Who is that stupid?? If the Iranians wanted to attack Israel they would have done so under the pre-emptive attack judgement. Because Israel is clearly ready to attack Iran and has not hidden this intention. Its a pity there isn't any royalty in both these countries because a royal alliance could avert war.

Make love not war.

The religious leaders in Iran would never authorize a "preemptive" attack on Israel.

Israel and/or the USA must deliver the first blow, then they will have the Ayatollahs authorization, along with religious justification to retaliate.

Their plans are strictly to retaliate... And retaliation will NOT be the way "military" strategists are assuming.

IMO

Yes because Russia is not helping Iran, and Russia is completely a neutral party.

Not our problem, none of our business. Make friends with Iran, make amends with Iran and stop picking fights with other countries, especially on someone elses behalf. The world will be better off if we tried that strategy for a change.

If Israel wants a ruck with Iran then it is between them and Iran, we should be distancing ourselves from these petty conflicts not encouraging them.

Yes, Iran constantly denies the holocaust and calls for the destruction of Israel almost daily, yet Israel is the one to blame. Sickening.

There's more chance of Iran doing the attacking with nukes, there, two can play that game. Now answer my question. It's a question, not trolling.

I will say the same thing I said in another post a few minutes ago.

I don't think Russia as a trustworthy nation, all nations are crooked, especially the big players like Russia and the US. Russia seems to keep most it's turmoil within it's own borders which is more than the US can say.

Iran can say that it hasn't attacked any nations recently. Can Israel say that?

Tell that to Georgia.

plain and simple. but the reality is, nuclear weapons are the ultimate deterrent against attack.

if they didn't exist, i'm pretty sure every american would be speaking russian by now and we'd be fighting world war 4.

if a nuclear weapon prevents the loss of thousands lives in their country, then their government has a moral duty to develop one.

they are our enemies because cnn says so. or george bush says so. the reality it they haven't attacked one person on u.s. soil.

if the u.s. wasn't meddling in the middle east, this would be a non-issue.

but their comes a price with having a nuclear weapon. if you use one against another country, regardless of their nuclear capabilities, you've assured the total destruction of your nation.

That is where you are wrong. In a conflict if the ruling party of Iran was about to be ousted they could launch without any being launched back, as their civilian population would be the only ones suffering at that point. This is why you need to be educated, and why Iran having nukes is insanity. MAD applies to the US and USSR, it does not apply to every country everywhere.

Nope.

A friend of mine grew up in the USSR. His Dad was hi-ranking in the military and later the government, and they escaped to the US with political contacts when the USSR fell apart. He says the USSR had run millions of scenarios, and in every scenario they defeat the US military in a matter of weeks. They were 100% confident they could defeat our missiles and our military, but they knew they could never rule our people. Our 2nd Amendment scared the Russians away from an attack, not our Nukes.

You can credit John Wayne and Roy Rogers, and The Rifleman, and all the old Westerns. US Propaganda won the Cold War. It worked on Japan too! The propaganda machine, and the image of US men as a wild cowboys where everyone has a gun and knows how to shoot it is what won the Cold War.

Just because someone said it does not make it true. I do not believe Russia had a snowballs chance in hell of beating the US in a war, and they went bankrupt trying to keep up. In fact the US greatly overestimated the USSR's capabilities, when the government collapsed it was truly eye opening how far behind they were.
