Iran Sought Miniaturized Nuclear-Weapon Design to Fit Missiles, IAEA Says

www.bloomberg.com

Iran continued working on nuclear weapons at least until last year, including efforts to shrink a Pakistani warhead design to fit atop its ballistic missiles, a report from United Nations inspectors said.

The International Atomic Energy Agency, drawing on evidence collected over eight years, reported yesterday that Iran carried out “work on the development of an indigenous design of a nuclear weapon including the testing of components.”

Yeah Iran's nuclear program was really for "peaceful" purposes everyone knows they want the bomb and wow a Pakistani weapons design.

Considering the billions the US give's Pakistan in foreign aid what the hell? There are so many levels of wrong going on but yet again they give Pakistan money they sanction Iran which is seriously messed up and then we Have China and Russia backing whatever Iran does.

The funding to Pakistan needs to end and sanctions need to be levied on Pakistan this is ridiculous

The stage has basically been set for a global conflict.

All it would take now is the perfect event to light the fuse....

We live in interesting times, no doubt.

Not our problem, none of our business. Make friends with Iran, make amends with Iran and stop picking fights with other countries, especially on someone elses behalf. The world will be better off if we tried that strategy for a change.

If Israel wants a ruck with Iran then it is between them and Iran, we should be distancing ourselves from these petty conflicts not encouraging them.

I will say the same thing I said in another post a few minutes ago.

I don't think Russia as a trustworthy nation, all nations are crooked, especially the big players like Russia and the US. Russia seems to keep most it's turmoil within it's own borders which is more than the US can say.

Iran can say that it hasn't attacked any nations recently. Can Israel say that?

a country that has nuclear weapons has no right to tell another country that they can't have one.

plain and simple. but the reality is, nuclear weapons are the ultimate deterrent against attack.

if they didn't exist, i'm pretty sure every american would be speaking russian by now and we'd be fighting world war 4.

if a nuclear weapon prevents the loss of thousands lives in their country, then their government has a moral duty to develop one.

they are our enemies because cnn says so. or george bush says so. the reality it they haven't attacked one person on u.s. soil.

if the u.s. wasn't meddling in the middle east, this would be a non-issue.

but their comes a price with having a nuclear weapon. if you use one against another country, regardless of their nuclear capabilities, you've assured the total destruction of your nation.

So are you saying Iran has had no role in essentially attacking Iraq?

What do you think will happen to Iraq once (the albeit initially) misplaced US troops leave?

How many muslims would Iran kill if they threw a nuke at Israel ?
Have you ever considered the possibility that, even if it was right, the purpose would be for deterrence ?

What was Israel's excuse for building over 200 nukes while not even signing the NPT ?

Neocons are back at it ...

You are aware that Iraq invaded Iran right? A full air and ground assault into Iran with the support of the US (and it's allies).

They seem to completely believe that the Iranian gov is funding the Iraq insurgency when the evidence indicates the insurgency is homegrown and actually funded by the Americans.

It gets confusing around here sometimes

Oh please, what decades ago?

I'm talking under the recent US occupation...everyone seems to be under the current mind-set that Iran is the victim now.

Nope.

A friend of mine grew up in the USSR. His Dad was hi-ranking in the military and later the government, and they escaped to the US with political contacts when the USSR fell apart. He says the USSR had run millions of scenarios, and in every scenario they defeat the US military in a matter of weeks. They were 100% confident they could defeat our missiles and our military, but they knew they could never rule our people. Our 2nd Amendment scared the Russians away from an attack, not our Nukes.

You can credit John Wayne and Roy Rogers, and The Rifleman, and all the old Westerns. US Propaganda won the Cold War. It worked on Japan too! The propaganda machine, and the image of US men as a wild cowboys where everyone has a gun and knows how to shoot it is what won the Cold War.

If you think you can bring up the iran nuke issue and not talk about Israel, I guess you still believe in Santa too.

Who do you think provided such intel to the IAEA ?
